The NMPW education team was in Philadelphia for a conference and crossed the Delaware River to New Jersey to visit the Battleship New Jersey Museum. Curator Ryan Szimanski gave a very informative tour about the armament and communications systems on this historic WW2 Battleship. Bryan Degner, Educational Outreach Coordinator for the National Museum of the Pacific War, enjoyed the historical connections of the USS New Jersey and the Pacific War.
Special thanks to Ryan and the ship's staff for giving us this personal tour.

That is SO funny! I remember asking Ryan in a RUclips comment if he’s ever visit the Chester Nimitz museum, he said they couldn’t yet. Looks like the museum visited HIM first!

And while those projectiles were flying, fighters would sometimes be flying at near enough speed and direction to the projectiles, that they appeared to be unknown flying objects they named foo fighters.

Ryan, again, another great video. While I really do love your videos and your WW II knowledge and BB enthusiasm and preservation of this history, it looks like you did not really look at or use my ballistics file that I sent you. For the 1,900 HE round, and in my research often referenced as 'HE' (High Energy) instead of 'HC' (high Capacity), somewhat dependent on the source, the bursting charge on the Iowa class BBs for the HE round is 156.3 lbs. However, the bursting charge on the 2,700 AP round is only 40.9 lbs., which was small compared to most of the other WW II battleship AP rounds, except for the Italian Littorio class (a very good BBS) which was only 22.4 lbs., and the German Bismark class with 41.1 lbs. Most of the rest were 48 lbs. of bursting charge for their AP round.
Also, 20,000 yards altitude??? This is barely doable today! Perhaps you meant 20,000 feet?
