- I have to say it and be as honest as possible on this channel. Hogwarts Legacy is boring, lifeless and doesn't live up to the expectation at all for me. Watch the video to find out why.

For the first 5 hours, this game is great, but as you get the mid-game, you get overwhelmed with repetitive tasks. Even if people want a game where they don't have to think much they would still get bored. Hogwarts is so wonderful in this game and instead of doing more with it the player has to go to some ruins. I feel like Red Dead Redemption 2 creators had more ideas. With the Harry Potter game, creators were like,' We can put anything together, and still, sales will go through the roof'.
I agree. When I first started playing, I was amazed in how detailed and beautiful the world was, but after you start walking around the world freely, it just feels incredibly empty. The only interaction with the world comes from quests, but most of the game, like most RPGs, is spent running around or flying - so it just feels empty. It's a beautiful, empty shell of a game.
I think we've all been spoiled by Red Dead Redemption where the world actually feels lived in.
Yeah, I hear you. You guys should play Red Dead Revolver and see how those games started out.
I was so excited to play this game I don't know why as I am not a major harry potter fan but there was hype and I like open world RPGS. I bought an xbox series x as my PC was not strong enough to handle it. So not only did I waste money on the PC version I can't refund but also the xbox version. It is so boring, it is not an rpg and I just feel it is just a kids game dressed up to be something amazing. There is far too much pointless cut scenes for me and dialogue you just skip and when you get to the action it is over in seconds becuase it is just too easy. Like using a spell to become invisible to sneak past the prefects to get to the library with absolutely no challenge and then any dual is mostly easy once you learn what you need to do.
Yesterday I played (and I use that term pretty loosely, killed time would be more accurate) Hogwarts Legacy for the first time since finishing it 10 months ago. I just assumed between last May and March 2024 that there would have been an update of SOME KIND to the game. Nada. Zilch. Zero. I walked around for about 30 minutes killing everything in sight, and doing a few Merlin's Trials before remembering how generally boring the game was and turning it off.
I know most of the developers of this game were new to the gaming world and as such were very protective of their first product especially with it being so successful but the stance of not adding ANY additional content and absolutley looking like no chance of a sequel almost make me feel like the attitude was, "We've made a wizarding world game for modern day consoles. Done! Now we can go back to making quizzes on Pottermore".
The story was boring as all get out and pretty convoluted and stupid, our main characters were given the personality of a piece of wood and while the exploration was fun while you had a campaign to get through, after it's all said and done when you walk around you just get this sense of loneliness and boredom. A nice feature would have been to have a travelling companion after the story was complete if you so chose to do that.
I know a lot of people, me included would have liked the idea of a Relationships feature in the game or in a sequel, but that would create a whole load of other things, and given the tone of Hogwarts Legacy I could hardly see it happening.
To some up, I adored the game the first 6 or so weeks of playing it but as I neared the end of the story and after completing it I just felt really empty, walking around doing Merlin's Trials and Side Quests that take no account that you've actually finished the story mean unless something crazy I won't be turning this game on ever again.
It's a huge let down isn't it as the mechanics are there and they're great but the storylines are horrendously dull. The side quests are non existent and it just doesn't have anything to grab you. I went into the forest just to find things to fight and that got boring, quick
@@GamingGooseyep I agree I haven’t touched in 4 months hopefully in the sequel or in the summer updates the game has more to offer
I'm just a few hours in, long before getting the broom - this game had such a great start and I was really into it but already it feels like a chore - collect 16 of these, find 20 of these, here are some mirrors, here are some spirals on the ground, here are some flying keys, run 5 times in a circle and shoot the blue pumpkin...
The world feels like an open world with so much randomly placed busy-work and collectibles. I'd love a stripped down "no nonsense" game that's just a third of the playtime but leaves out all these kinds of stuff
It felt open world but so empty to me. The game has potential for a 2nd one but needs a lot of work and probably needs to be a bit more adult.
You actually made 2 really interesting points on this video. Grinding for gear is pointless when you can just edit what you've already got and the point about broom upgrades when everything is fast travel, agree 👍 for me it's a 5/10 not the worst but could be a lot better.
Disagree on that. Why should I be forced to use more powerful gear if I hate how it looks. I think every rpg or game should give you the option to change the appearance of the gear if you don’t like the new gear’s appearance. This was always a problem in many RPGs iv played because there were often times the new gear I got didn’t look as cool.
I dont like playing as a 15 year old. Its too pg. Too restricted. The characters are too posh, snobby students. Not enough grit. No moral choices or romance options. The villians are all masked generic ppl
I Think we need GTA 6 to come out asap
Fr
Ah yes...a bit too pg, the unfortunate case of playing a game about *puts on reading glasses* school children ranging from 11-17.
@@dunebuggy1292 Yet murder and torture exists in the canon
its a £50 game shoved into a £20 world
Agreed. The side quests aren't exciting enough for me and the main didn't really make me want to find out what it was about.
I played the game for 1 hour, got the game for £20, put the game down, felt bored, didn't want to play more. Came back did 10 hours, most engaging part was fighting the spiders, ended up before Matriachs, out of health potions didn't remeber how to use the others, few spells as I went exploring early and low health struggling to fight.
I wish they had set bonuses, made the wand adjustments make a difference to power or balance or speed. Teach you how to upgrade stuff, I have no idea. Let you throw magic at people from the broom, my misses also seemed to have a destructive streak and wanted me to use magic to destroy stuff or kill off the sheeps for mutton but they are immortal, stronger then the dark wizards. Put the difficulty on hard and it felt like fighting or=n easy or normal.
Bought the game on sale for 20-30$ (i dont remember) about a month ago.
Im on the last mission but just havent had the feeling to want to finish the game.
Its just boring the whole play through. Combat, side quests, story, how most choices dont even matter.
Playing RPG’s after playing BG3 has ruined every RPG experience for me now😂
It was so hard for me to get past the first hour. All cutscenes, even on my super pc with all the ray tracing it's beyond boring.
I think it was just too pg
@@GamingGoose Lol I actually just refunded the game... Rather spend my time playing good games like TrePeng2, Vladik Brutal, EDF6
It was so boring, that I quit before I even got to the broom riding XD
The game was basically rated E. Too safe. If the game had a morality or alignment mechanic, where I could chose to be good or evil, then that would make a massive difference in the gameplay, making it more RPG like. However, what I found was that HL was more ore less like an Harry Potter themed amusement park walking simulator. It's boring af! It's worth no more than 10 bucks tbh
Yeah bro, it was pretty boring. I'm almost near the end and just couldn't stomach it any longer. I was playing it because I paid 40 for it. But I lost my enjoyment for the game about 5-10 hours in. Was pushing through hoping it would get better. In some ways it did, but nah, I got off. Was too bored.
I agree completely after 10 hours playing the game I got so bored and got so bored doing these side quests where I see no point of doing. This game is so lifeless too. I sold my game by they way.
My rating is 1/10.
I was excited to get it but I found it exactly the same. The missions where all pretty much the same thing rinse and repeat. Learn a mew spell, Fly to a location, fight a few things easily and done. Do that over and over. Sold my copy also as the price to sell was still good.
It’s a beautiful world that needs to be expanded, the game also needs dynamic weather and season change… Time should be a thing, not just season change because you advance the story … It’s a good start, maybe the next one they can improve…
I’m glad I’m not the only one. I fell asleep twice trying to play this game. And no you’re not spoiled by red dead. I haven’t played that yet and still found this game boring
How can such a big game feel so empty
I was exactly 6the same, I stopped playing this after 15 hours and I've never been back to it ,because like you say there's just nothing going on I think I actually fell asleep playing it one day
THIS. I fell asleep too. Once I got to hogsmeade and started exploring more the whole facade just fell apart
@@At_Amsterdam Same here lol
Glad I wasn't the only one falling asleep ti it 😂😂😂. I started falling asleep on three different gaming sessions. At first I thought it was just me being tired but now I know it was HL for sure 😂😂😂
I tried it after RDR2, holy shit, i think RDR2 just ruined almost all open world rpgs.
I said the exact same to my mates, rdr2 blows everything else away
I'm playing it now and I feel the same. It's just bland. It can look very pretty and that's about it.
I practically grew up with Harry Potter and I think it hurts the enjoyment even more, because nothing makes sense in the game, lore wise.
I loved the films but this could have been so much more. Its just needs more life to it more random encounters and fun missions.
Whatyou meanf to say is that theres no point in UPGRADING gear. i dont upgrade either cause i just change the look of the new powerful ugly gear i get.
Yep it took me a while to notice that but it made the game even more pointless that you can just get any powerful gear and upgrade how it looks 😅
The game is fun and exciting at first cause its new but then I started questioning…where do these students go at night? Its like they all dissapear and then reappear in the morning and for a wizard school there really isnt that many students there and you cant even interact with them besides the main story ones…you find all those pages and keys for what? A jacket or a hat😂 the classes are lame and pretty much pointless same with the charachters outside…no interaction whatsoever…the world…everything is already mapped out for you so all you have to do is go collect stuff…the outside bosses dont even level up with you Im level 38 still fighting level 25 on hard mode😂 it has potential and its a gorgeous world but unfortunately the wrong people created this game…it should be totally open ended and the relationships and choices and classes you take should effect the outcome of your charachter….The vivariums are kinda cool but breeding is pointless…I dont think this game is worth the 80$ they want to charge you for it and glad I got it onsale….TOTK is harder then this game this hogwarts legacy is a 5/10 MAX
it didn't need to be an open world, just the castle.. I would make a first game in the franchise, presenting the Hogwarts castle, presenting the world.. and other areas such as a small town were open with simple fast travel.. later in a sequence they could expand... I'm tired open world 😅
I was tearing my hair out like ffs, please, something, someone, knock me the fuck off my broom mid-air. A troll throwing a boulder or something, ANYTHING. I don't wanna feel this safe after watching the films and reading most of the books. I want DARK SOULS HARRY POTTER, death eaters bitchslapping me and throwing me into walls, tearing my soul out just SOMETHING INTERESTING 😂😂😂
😅 but.... at least there were gobstones to collect
@@GamingGoose Just finished downloading Avatar: Pandora Something and I'm holding my breath after reviews🤐
Re-edit: Avatar was mid. Baldur's Gate was NOT.
Good point. The world should feel more dangerous to explore
Beautifully put. This game had so much potential. I think a more immersive story would probably help.
What is your opinion of the game, rate it out of 10 below
So ive been playing this game the past week or so, and at first i had alot of fun.. im not a huge harry potter fan? or.. atleast ive never read the books or watched the movies. My wife was more interested than I was.. so we got it, created characters and goofed off. Now that was fun to sit side by side and explore the world and doing challenges and stuff..i typically play games on hard.. and this game on hard was EZ PZ. Once i realized you could stack traits, i literally ran around with concentration III and felt like i was destroying everything in my path.. im really bored.. i just want to beat the game so i can be done with it. Even my wife stopped around level 26 and she loves the world and lore.
I'm exactly the same every game I get goes on instant hardest difficultly and usually it's a challenge but this wasn't. Even that game where you roll the balls towards you I won every single time. It wasn't a game for me
I think im spent, i dont even feel like doing the third trial. at this point its a toddlers puzzle game for me. lmao, it has its merits. its a beautiful game, but i think thats a wrap for me. I just tried to load it up after work and do a couple quests. I'm off to start cyberpunk. :D thanks for the reply btw. GAME ON@@GamingGoose
Honestly, I don't understand the love for this game and why ppl r upset it's not a goty nominee for any game show so far. This game, i thought, ok for the 1st 10 hrs. But as time passes, i see the game becoming repetitive and tedious. The writing was purposeless, too. I hardly remember what's the game objective and the characters r hardly memorable.
Little horse thing 😂 I hated collecting those animals it's too childish for me
Too PG for me
At least 1 big plus for the game is, it paves the way for a 2nd game with more life to it. The mechanics are there but the storylines and side quests aren't.
Let’s hope.. they should NOT follow the errand running formula.. GOD it sucks!!!
I’d appreciate a god of war type even…where the world is clouded.. but no missions going back to areas you’ve already explored the shit out of
There were 2 games that should have inspired Hogwart Legacy. The Persona series or Bully (from Rockstar). Instead we've got another generic open fuc***ing world.
I agree with most of this and thought after the first 10ish hours it became a boring game, but people rating it a 1/10 are beyond delusional. If you get the game for sale this is potentially a 6.0/10 or maybe slightly more depending on how much you like Harry Potter. This is also their first open world rpg and they confirmed to be working on a sequel with a new engine. I think they are capable of using this as a base and considering there arent THAT many settings in harry potter the next game will hopefully be a better version of the first being twice as detailed with way more meaningful things to do. If you see some of the featured cut out of the game it did have more rpg/ role play elements with being good or bad. Hoping its the first thing they work on the next game.
I do agree it's never a 1/10 it's not an E.T game from the 90s 😅 a proper 1/10. I enjoyed aspects of this game but it just felt a bit flat and empty. I would agree a 6/10 is about the perfect score.
its so boring. running, some stuff, a lot of too much dialogue. annoying. and the world is empty. no real life in it
Yeah I just tried this one out as well after seeing all the 10/10s and ”top ten games of 2023”, granted Im not a harry potter fan but a good games is a good game so figured I would try it out. This game has no pull, the main story is drip feed in the opening so slowly I just cant care about it - ok so I got some beef with a troll or whatever. Then you are forced through like 2 hours of these boring tutorials explaining game mechanics that anyone who is alive and gaming in 2024 already can figure out without a tutorial. Couple it with these lenghty, boring dialog screens. After half an hour I just skip them since they have NOTHING interesting to say. Id say the combat isnt all to bad, but is so bog standard and vanilla that it dosent cut it to make me play more. So then what is there - no story to engage us, no fun gameplay, just a bunch of pretty static open worlds to walk around and look at. It is the most boring game in a long while, I dont at all get why people are raving on about it
I kind of liked it 😂 just to throw a spanner in the works. But can see how people didn't.
they should have done some story DLC cos this game gets hella boring hella fast its become the game i play when i dont wanna think and just wanna play something its not a bad game its just so dull in my opinion
Dragon's dogma 2 is a.much better rpg that deserves.game of the year not this it's boaring and crashes all the time great video 👍
Cheers 😊 I'll also be starting live streaming soon if it's something you're interested in watching head over to twitch.com/gaminggoosestream
yeah i was bored i love castle and exploring there but thats all i will never finish it because i hate repetition so much
This game has an excessive amount of interaction between characters which ruined the main story for me as I lost track of it trying to follow so many side quest stuff. Rating 1/10
It could have been so much more. I got bored of finding gobstones and other pointless quests too 😅
Exactly the problem Im having, they did a fantastic job with the potter universe but theres just so much and it starts to get a little stale pretty fast.
I agree after just finishing dragon's dogma 2 this is soooo boaring 😔
I'll probably play it again properly when I own a beast PC system and the game looks beautiful enough to warrant the gameplay slug
what graphics card do you have?
@@michaelhawkins7389 2080ti. I think ill need a 3090 before trying it again
I was completely raging and out of my own brains balls out to find those guide pages 😂😂 ughh
Its a beautiful looking game with a lifeless world that feels empty with no personality
Sadly i agree
@GamingGoose It is a shame, it needed NPC interactions and more inside of Hogwarts
I got the game on release and stopped playing after about 25% completion, got back into it the other week and then realised why I gave up on it.
All the dialogue is so monotone and dull too!
Game is not fun or interesting
I love this game. I personally think that because I like the books so much, that's why I have such a connection to this game. I also like how you don't want to personalize your character and just assume that everyone doesn't like it just like you. I mean, I don't like onions, but does that mean that they are terrible and that everyone should dislike them? Honestly, you are entitled to your opinion, but i would rate it 8 out of 10, not perfect by any means, but still a personal favorite of mine.
It's great if you loved the game and I agree everyone has different goals from a game and its great to see people have enjoyed it. For me I enjoyed the films and just felt the game lacked any decent storylines it was mainly classes then fighting trolls or statues. They should have added some really interesting side quests, for example I finally found the train station and it was empty, no quests or anything to interact with. That for me was a big let down unfortunately.
I am also spoiled by rdr2
They tried to appeal to everyone and failed miserably. This game is just a beautiful facade.
Totally agree I even visited the hogwarts station and it was just boring and dull
isnt it much like a tella tale mode of game
I wish I could return the game, it cost me quite a bit.
Think i got it for £70 😵💫😵💫
Hogwarts Legacy is a waste of good graphics.
too brithish i guess
