As an Indian I can relate. There are over 50 English speaking accents in India, yet it's only a particular South Indian accent that's popularised in Western media.
Loved making this video together Nathaniel!!! Hilarious to watch back again too 😂 Thanks for being so game for this - next time you’ll have to teach me an American accent 🇺🇸
Accents are very interesting. Did you know that Patrick Stewart is from Yorkshire? On joining RADA, he was told to speak with an RP. Roger Moore has a similar story (as in RADA) however he was from London in the same neighbourhood as Michael Cane.
There’s such a large variety of accents within the UK. It would be interesting to hear you speak with a Scottish person - we have notoriously difficult to understand accents😂
As a french dude, hearing such a British accent is just delicious and I'm quite jalous to be honest. Please give us more lessons, I think I have a long way to go.
The topic of 'British' accents opens up a whole can of worms! I'm glad you acknowledged that there are many different accents throughout the UK, including variations of RP. I find Americans doing a 'British' accent usually swing between RP and Cockney, and words like bruv and innit are more typical of Multicultural London English. I recommend Eat Sleep Dream English for much more on UK accents. Word of warning to non Brits: posh (implies wealth & privilege) and chav (implies the opposite) can have negative connotations, so take care with their use. Loved this video though, more please! 😍
This is one of the great things about living abroad! We meet people from different places, share our cultures and languages, and open our eyes to new ways of life. …And it’s always fun to learn a new accent! 😆 Especially for those of us who speak with the boring newscaster American accent (myself included)!
Oh this is so incredibly entertaining to watch 😂 I also have the RP accent, but I’ve never actually thought about how we form the sound? Props to Izzy for her amazing explanations!
Surprisingly entertaining!!! Having the same sort of accent as Lizzy and knowing about linguistics, I can tell you she was usually spot on. I think she led you astray a bit when she told you it was 'wortA' for 'water'. It's more like 'wortER' (with a dark vowel, like ERgonomics, without any r sound)
Really into a British guy right now & we make fun of each other accents all the time. Now this video pops up lol. Love the chaotic energy in the video. Also izzy is so adorable, instant subscribe to her channel!
She has a posh English accent. Here in the UK we never say 'British accent' because Britain also includes Scotland and Wales where the accents are wildly different to any of the English accents. I think you're doing a good job, and sound a bit like Jude Law!
100%, I often even forget that it means to refer to a male until I'm literally referring to a male haha it's such an oddly laid back word that we use it constantly (at least here in California) to my female friends and any male, human or animal lol
🤣🤣 As a Londoner myself, and after watching the other video on Izzys channel, it sounds like you want to learn an accent which is a cross between anyone who's on Made in Chelsea + a 90s Hugh Grant film and possibly a South East London accent 😀
Blimey, this was highly entertaining bruv! 😂 Being a Hungarian who grew up on American media, but living in Manchester UK, my accent is a wild mixture of Eastern European-Northern English-American. This became painfully obvious to me when I started my RUclips channel and had to listen to myself all day long while editing...😅 I have a theory. I am a very visual person and I think you can't have it all, so I'm naturally HORRIBLE at anything related to audio: picking up and mimicking accents, hearing differences in good and bad sound quality and learning/memorising anything only by listening, without writing it down. I'm working hard to improve this aspect of my skills, but it is so 💂 bloody 💂difficult. Izzy made a really good point when she said having a certain accent does not indicate how intelligent someone is, but in my experience, it often serves a basis of preconception. I try to keep my cool even when I was laughed at my accent for the 100th time at work. Instead of getting offended, I concentrate on improving it by asking people similar questions like you did in the video. Sometimes I simply can't hear the difference the way I say things and the "proper" English way of pronouncing them. Watching you trying to adapt this accent reminds me to laugh at myself more because being a beginner in something means that we keep evolving and it is something to be proud of! 👏
In American English, the term “guys” was used as gender neutral although originally it wasn’t but lately seems to be looked at as not gender neutral and some are saying that y’all might be better.
My late Mum HATED it when on church cleaning duty, the trendy young vicar turned up with a "hey guys, how ya doing?". This 80+ lady resented being referred to as a "guy,". We all thought it was so funny!
As an American lady (originally from CA) I am definitely pro gender neutral use of "bro" (it's a lot like "dude" or "guys" or "girl" to me, it's more like an expression of emotion than calling the person a bro/dude/girl); but we def avoid using "bro" when trying to flirt
My terrible accent became apparent to me when I started my RUclips channel! So, idk about you, but I'm here to actually learn!!! That's why I'm demanding for full series on this topic The whole world has to speak with same accent as Harry Potter and Queen Elizabeth do 🤣⚡
As a British northerner I feel the need to point out that the posh accent is also considered the accent of privilege as well as southerncentric (and actually may be made fun of in some situations), so consider that if you try and use it! The accent of many TV presenters has thankfully moved away from always being RP and valuing regional accents. I don’t speak RP but certainly don’t drop my Ts.
Ooo this is interesting... Underneath the hilarity 😂 this is really a conversation about class at the start... Who are the posh? I want a 'RP accent'... So funny watching this as a northern (aka not posh) Brit 🇬🇧 really fascinating and enjoyable. I realise there's so much nuance and a lot going on in British culture around class that we don't really acknowledge on a day to day basis.
I just love such kind of videos! I feel like I'm sitting near them and learn how to speak posh British accent 😂🤣 Such warmth radiates from those types of videos!!
My native language is Spanish but I lost it after being adopted and moving to the u.s. despite this, I quickly pick up on accents. I consider myself to have a Midwestern accent but even some Midwesterners don't agree. When I'm down in the south, it takes a few days before I naturally start speaking with a southern accent. I also grew up watching Jane Austen adaptations and the "posh" English accent became something I adopted. The only accent I haven't gotten down is Scottish but truth be told, I haven't sat down to learn it. Most of my accent attainment has been through passive listening
they have chemistry its cute
Definitely! Lots of chemistry there.
Fr!!!
As a British person, I am always amused by references to the 'British accent', which always actually mean a posh London/South East England accent
As an Indian I can relate. There are over 50 English speaking accents in India, yet it's only a particular South Indian accent that's popularised in Western media.
Yep, always seems to default to RP or "posh London". I grew up between London and Canada and have a weird canadian/RP hybrid accent.
I'm amused when it means a cockney accent too lol
The same goes for the American accent. Even so I will say that, to my ear, the difference in UK are greater, but it could be exposure.
Keep sniggering by yourself buddy coz no one else is
The tension is unbearable 💀💀💀
Watch Nathaniel flirt for 14 straight minutes 😂
Not only him, tey both were😂 but it was an awesome energy match
😂
Nathaniel didn't sound posh at all
Something else is happening in my feeling.
this is ali abdaals gf lol
Loved making this video together Nathaniel!!! Hilarious to watch back again too 😂 Thanks for being so game for this - next time you’ll have to teach me an American accent 🇺🇸

New-York accent is my favorite one
I love how it went from being posh to talking about whether "bruv" is gender neutral 😂 it's so nice seeing Izzy on here!
Israel Adesanya?
@@testingsomething5280 lmao.
This went from learning a British accent to trying to not sound French 😂
So, im starting to feel like uncomfortable because I feel like I'm third wheeling, you guys look so good together, letting you finish on your own 🙊
was I the only one who felt the chemistry between them?
No I feel so awkward I have second hand embarrassment 😂
I was blushing just watching this 🤭
It feels like they both are flirting.
My friend, it's actually an "English" accent. The Scots, Welsh and Irish would never describe any accent as British.
And I think your a natural.
Wow we can really feel the nervous sexual tension Nathaniel has for her 😅
Love it
"And why do you want a posh British accent?"
*Nathaniel:* "Well is that like the Harry Potter accent?" ...
🤣⚡❤
There’s such a large variety of accents within the UK. It would be interesting to hear you speak with a Scottish person - we have notoriously difficult to understand accents😂
Bo uh uf wo urr
You two have an amazing energy together! It was so fun to watch! Really made me smile and laugh!💕
I ship IZZY with nathaniel.
As a french dude, hearing such a British accent is just delicious and I'm quite jalous to be honest. Please give us more lessons, I think I have a long way to go.
This was so entertaining ! So funny to see Nathaniel struggling with little subtle sounds
You guys are very cute
That was hilarious! Thank you Nathaniel and Izzy for the positive energy you have shared through video!

True! Accent in the uk is so tightly tied to ideas of class and influences the way you are treated in our society.
Yeah, i t h o u g h t l'd caught our Izzy saying "chavvy" at least once, though she was having a proper naughty giggle as she said it 😄.... ~💚
Bruvs, we are *literallee* in this *togethaa ...*
This is one of the great things about living abroad! We meet people from different places, share our cultures and languages, and open our eyes to new ways of life.
…And it’s always fun to learn a new accent! 😆 Especially for those of us who speak with the boring newscaster American accent (myself included)!
You have a completely French accent speaking RP it’s very hard to do so well done 😂
Plural of bruv is probably fam
Your „Ja“ was perfectly German :-)
And Dutch
Such a great video!
I was talking after you guys the whole time and laughing all along :)
This was such a fun video! Loved the vibe, loled multiple times. Made my day bruv
Oh this is so incredibly entertaining to watch 😂 I also have the RP accent, but I’ve never actually thought about how we form the sound? Props to Izzy for her amazing explanations!
I mean, Nathaniel's already got the Daniel Radcliffe look down, so a Harry Potter accent only seems right.
OMG I LOVED this video. You should do it with all kinds of accents. And throw in french also!
So funny, I literally just discovered her channel in my feed yesterday! How CRAZY! 🤯
Grazie Nathaniel per ispirarmi in ogni video! Voglio prendere spunto per il mio canale! Grazie davvero, continua così!😍
Really into a British guy right now & we make fun of each other accents all the time. Now this video pops up lol. Love the chaotic energy in the video. Also izzy is so adorable, instant subscribe to her channel!
I find her accent very attractive
She has a posh English accent. Here in the UK we never say 'British accent' because Britain also includes Scotland and Wales where the accents are wildly different to any of the English accents. I think you're doing a good job, and sound a bit like Jude Law!
This was so funny to watch. You should do a series with different UK accents. Love to hearing you do a Yorkshire one. 🇬🇧
Haha I'm from Yorkshire, I'd love to hear that!!
I want second part
love it)
Lots of people call girls "dude" in the U.S. I hear girls call girls "dude."
100%, I often even forget that it means to refer to a male until I'm literally referring to a male haha it's such an oddly laid back word that we use it constantly (at least here in California) to my female friends and any male, human or animal lol
As a Brit, this had me chuckling! Loved it!
Nathan going full harry potter
🤣🤣 As a Londoner myself, and after watching the other video on Izzys channel, it sounds like you want to learn an accent which is a cross between anyone who's on Made in Chelsea + a 90s Hugh Grant film and possibly a South East London accent 😀
I. Literally. Love this video ❤️

As an American who adores the British accent, this was SO enjoyable! Me lit-tra-le repeating every sentence with y'all 😂
I second this! I like to pretend I’m on a cooking show with my British accent
That was hilarious to watch. And educative.
Jeez.. there is a lot to unpack in this video 😆
Love the energy from both 👌🏼
The change of music when he says bruv 😂
This is completely my husband and I teaching him the word croissant in French. It's like each person can hear different sounds 😂
5:02 As a Brit I'd say the closest thing to a plural of bruv is 'mandem' 😂
You guys are perfect match hahahahaha savage! I like her, date her! 😂😂
Lmao at how you ended up sounding South African, love that you gave it your all
“Say air”
Nathaniel: “YAH”
She is amazing.
Crazy seeing Izzy in this brah

Major Fail! So hilarious! Anyone else shipping them togeth-ah!? lol

This was so fun, and yes your French is really messing with this bruh hahahah
My terrible accent became apparent to me when I started my RUclips channel!

Yeah the “posh” accent is made fun of everywhere outside the south of England.
I am from Surrey
People from the North and midlands sound low class to me and my community
Also did anyone think of the Friends scene when Joey is trying to speak French with Phoebe hahah
Hahahhahahahahhaha 🤪
Ooo this is interesting... Underneath the hilarity 😂 this is really a conversation about class at the start... Who are the posh? I want a 'RP accent'... such a fun video and ngl you two guys are so cute
I agree you sounded french saying literaly
I just love such kind of videos! I feel like I'm sitting near them and learn how to speak posh British accent 😂🤣
Such warmth radiates from those types of videos!!
Oh my god it's amazing
To me the Queen sounds totally different 😳
thanks! now i also sound like a posh brit! loved it lmao
Haha brilliant! Such a fun episode! You should watch the early series of Made in Chelsea and emulate the boys (bruv!) ;)
I feel like I’m intruding on something
I’m not smiling, your smiling ☺️
Listen to William or Harry speak. They also say "brilliant" a lot.
She is so elegant
This was so much fun o/
I just laughed like hell when he was speaking "Harry Potter", btw good to see you learning a British accent.
Nathaniel should learn other British accents like that seen in Manchester, Liverpool or Birmingham. Would be hilarious!
'Ere, so ya wanna hav'im sound ded proper Mancunian-Scouse-Brum then, do ya 😄...?! ~💚
She is so pretty, l love her
Crikey you should hear my northern accent! Maybe we should get you to try pronouncing that. Lol. Great video ! Great fun!

Bruv needs lessons in Scouse next.
she was being so politically correct about the accents heh
5:25 lmao Nathaniel does sound super French when he says literally 😂😂
Yeah bruv literally together smashing it a bottle of water
RUclips algorithm brought me to this video and I didn't expect to be laughing my ass out watching this.
She should have done the American accent at the end
I'm Brazilian and I love American accent. I'll subscribe her channel. USA

Yep, I I also hear your french accent in your British accent 😂
