    Awesome video. Subscribed. Coincidentally, I just posted a south-bound GCDR video a few days ago. We did some BDR variants along the way but I recognize a lot including the mud around pie town!!! Late July was rainy in NM for sure. So great to view the route from the other perspective!

      Yeah, I would like to do this ride again. It has probably been my favorite of the long adventure bike rides. Maybe after your retire Jon?

    Excellent! A buddy and I did the CDR this summer - same direction as you. Nasty mud leaving Pie Town for us!

      Yeah, we probably hit the same mud. It was as slick as oil. it is funny how mud can be so different depending on the location. Riding in the Western Sierra near Georgetown in the winter, I have encountered deeper mud, but it was still workable: ruclips.net/video/EFxSwDhehLk/видео.html

      @@sfischerphotography I'll check it out. I had Dunlop Trailmax Missions on my Triumph Scrambler 1200 - not the tire for that mud! Or any mud. My buddy put a RUclips series together called "Deserts to Glaciers". He's "Johnny Pow Rides" in youtube if interested. He and I met on the TAT summer 2020. Happy New Year - time to plan the next trip.

    Great Video! Curious if you guys tackled Fleecer Ridge? If not was it easy to find a way around it?

      It looks like we skipped that. It has been a while, so I don't remember the circumstances at the time. Some reasons for some detours on this route: 1. We were running behind schedule.
      2. Route detours due to some fires in the Montana resulted in some closed-off areas.
      3. Warnings from others to avoid due to some excess difficulties. We were getting some intel from a group of riders a day ahead of us.

    Im thinking of hiking the CDT and bringing a truck/motorcycle to 'leapfrog' (drive, walk to other vehicle) My question is, i would like to get small moped (ct110) for ease of use, Im happy taking side roads with it, but am wondering how often I have to drive on freeways...and if its safe to take on a fwy...any advice?

      It seems possible. I have seen CT riders going over Mengel Pass in Death Valley before. But you just need to have enough gas for some of the longer stretches. Top speed of the CT110 may also be a challenge with some of the asphalt. But I think you could minimize pissing off other drivers by just riding in the shoulder when other cars get behind you.

    Questions:
    What month did you do this?
    If you did it again, what bike would you take?

    • @sfischerphotography
      @sfischerphotography  Год назад +1

      I did this ride the second half of July. I will probably do it again, and next time likely take my Husqvarna 701 if hoteling it, as that would give me more agility in the more technical terrain. But getting to the start from home and returning is easier if on the bigger bike, so it is always a trade-off.
