But for music he came from nothing and pretty much on his own made it to the KING of rock and roll he insisted on his perfection in his music and made the audience feel him and his music, for ever a fan!!!♥️♥️

  • @brianb6024

Elvis loved America, and as a musician and singer from the South, he was very sensitive to American issues which impacted the South and all of America.
In his masterpiece, American Trilogy, Elvis addressed the tragedy of The American Civil WAR : a war which pitted American against American, in a 5-year bloodbath, that ripped our Nation apart.
This brilliant song is constructed from extracts of three separate standards, each of which remains some of the best and most loved pieces of American music :
    1) The Battle Hymn of the Union
    2) The Battle Hymn oft the Confederacy
    ("Dixieland")
    3) All My Trials. (Gibson, Baez releases)
Elvis' song weights equally it's tribute to the two battle hymns, and it thereby weights equally each side's cause, as well as each side's resolve. The created tension directly mirrors the actual tension between the two Nations, the sole resolution of which could only be what it was. The fate of so so many Americans was sealed : men, boys, are slaughtered by the thousands. Brothers, husbands, fathers, sons - all marching off to their deaths.
Subsequently in Elvis' song, the variation of "All My Trials" is of a young soldier, telling his little baby not to cry because - as fate dictates - her "daddy is bound to die." And he does so, in the bloodiest and most costly of all American conflicts : the American Civil War (note: more Americans were killed in The Civil War than were killed in World War I, World War II, The Korean War and The Vietnam War all combined ! )

I have said it many times. Elvis was not the King of Rock and Roll. He was the God of Music. Elvis mastered so many genres that calling him King of one genre would be to minimize his contribution to others such as gospel, rockabilly, pop, country, R&B, etc. Kings reside on Earth anyway. Elvis Presley was quite simply the God of Music. The most iconic and influential entertainer of the 20th century and any other century that follows. With over a billion records sold, his influence continues to rise with every generation. I was 12 when he died. I don't remember him much, but I do remember the country standing still the day he died.

Elvis recorded exactly 769 ..... Did 31 Movies ..... 2 Documentaries ..... Over 1100 Concerts in the 70's alone ..... Who knows how many in the 50's and 60's ...... And did Three Concerts in Canada in 1957 ..... And the Aloha From Hawaii Concert Was not only the first one ever done by satellite ..... But Elvis was the first solo Artist to achieve this ..... And yes over 11/2 Billion watched it at that time ...... But think about this .... How many did not even understand English ..... Today there are programs that help you get to understand one faster ..... Back then none ..... 3.032 billion (1960) ..... 3.913 billion (1973 ...... 4.839 billion (1985) ...... 7,953,952,577 (2022 ) ..... Average (median) family income in the United States was estimated at $4,200 in 1954 ..... Average (me the average poverty threshold for a family of four was $10,989 in 1985 ..... Lots more money to spend on pleasure In 1985 to that of 1954 ..... "In 1945, there were probably fewer than 10,000 sets in the country. This figure soared to about 6 million in 1950, and to almost 60 million by 1960." ..... By the mid-1960s a large color TV could be obtained for only $300- a mere $2,490 in today's money. It's unthinkable how much of an average worker's income that would have been back then. The median household income in 1966 was $6,882. It's no wonder that color TV was such an exclusive viewing experience. ..... Elvis Presley performed in only one other country besides the United States, and that one country is Canada. Elvis made his first and last Canadian appearances in 1957. Young Elvis - having already released his first album and film in 1956, and had just purchased Graceland - arrived in Canada for the first two of these appearances in April 1957. Elvis' first Canadian performances were at the Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. April 2, 1957. Elvis wore his stunning, sparkling gold suit for this show - and this was the last time he wore the full suit. For future performances, Elvis would only wear pieces from this suit, such as just the jacket, belt and shoes, and in some shows, just the jacket. At this performance, Elvis accompanied himself on piano for 'Blueberry Hill,' Fats Domino's chart-topping hit. Elvis loved Fats and owned several of his albums. Elvis performed again in Canada the next day, April 3, at 4:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the Ottawa Auditorium in Ottawa. Elvis wore the gold jacket and shoes, but not the gold tie and pants.Elvis' next Canadian concert was at the Empire Stadium in Vancouver on August 31, 1957. ..... ELVIS WAS DEMANDED BY THE PEOPLE ..... AND PROCLAIMED KING BY THEM ..... ANY OTHER PERFORMER SELF CLAIMED THEMSELF A TITLE ..... BIG DIFFERENCE ..... Cause once you know the real Elvis ..... You'll know a truly ..... God given talent ..... Once you know the real Elvis ..... No-one else will do ..... No Brag .... Just Fact ....

The 3 songs in this are Dixieland which is the South. The Battle Hymn of the Republic was the Union marching song from the North & the last was a Bahamian lullaby which the slaves used to sing also. It’s to try and unite what happened during the Civil War. The combination is beautiful. By the way, he was born in Tupelo, Mississippi & later moved to Memphis, Tennessee. The song is by stephen foster written while he was somewhere up North and he wrote 'Dixie'(not dixieland, just Dixie) because he was missing home. We love our Southland here in Dixie. Nickname for south because the states fall south of the Mason-Dixon line established by surveyors once upon a time in America. Why it was surveyed who know. But two of them were mr mason and mr dixon...thus the name of the arbitrary surveyed line...lol...thus the nickname 'Dixie' for the South.

Presley was a creator. A genius in music. Not only a singer. But an original. Here we see him literally driving the entire orchestra. He is singing but also producing the music and orchestration at the same time. From 6:35 he turns himself to the orchestra and literally sings and conduct the rest of the music with the tempo and instruments entries as he wants 6:50 and make just a masterpiece. Just BRUTAL.

This is 3 songs merged into one performance, " Dixie " representing the South, " All my trials " which is what used to be called a " negro spiritual " ( no offence intended ) and " Battle Hymn of the Republic ", a Unionist Civil War anthem ... Elvis loved the bringing together of three songs from very different strands of America, and unifying them !! As a matter of interest, the guy playing the Flute solo was Gabe Baltazar, a very distinguished Jazz Sax and Woodwind player ....

"All my Trials" is not a Negro Spiritual, as you put it! ..It is a Folk Song from the mid 50s and 60s. It was also recorded under the names "Bahamian Lullaby" and "All my Sorrows". First released in 1956 by Bob Gibson and also recorded by Joan Baez in the 60s...It is in the American Folk Song registry..the original lyrics that Elvis sings were actually
"Hush, little baby, don't you cry
You know your mama was born to die
All my trials, Lord, soon be over"

1:56 That that low voice is the true bass singer JD Southern. The guy was absolutely amazing but then again so is everybody else in his band and Orchestra and backing vocal groups. He had the best bands and they work so hard together and they had fun together and fucked with each other a lot. And they just became so good and so tight.

You guys hit the nail on the head. Elvis had over 500 songs in his catalogue. I'd say at least half are better than his number one hits. Actually I should say extraordinary. If I only listened to his number ones I would have never been the huge Elvis fan that I am. I delved into his catalogue of songs and was left absolutely speachless and amazed. Most people don't know the extent of this man's talent. I'm not even of his generation. Much later and have such respect for this man. Great reaction, guys.

I won a radio show contest and the prize was a day with Elvis but our friendship lasted past that one day in time. All the memories of my friend are tucked safe in my heart forever. i saw him a few weeks before he passed we had a short conversation which i will never share again because people are so nasty and comment hurtful heart breaking things they do not know me but they still can't keep their mouths closed about things they know nothing about. I walk past Graceland everyday. Great reaction loved it. love from Memphis Tn.

Wow, that’s amazing. I never met him but my family was passing through Memphis in 1977 and we stopped by Graceland. It was in the spring and his Uncle Vester Presley was manning the security gate. He said Elvis was away on tour. A few months later in August he passed away. I was so sad. What a privilege you had to get to meet him. Later as a grown up I lived in a suburb near Memphis and met people that personally knew him or dated him in high school. He was truly one of a kind and a humble, kind, and gracious human being. God Bless You 🙏❤️

So Dixie Land refers to the 11 states that seceded from the Union prior to the Civil War! Elvis, being the patriotic man that he was, as evidenced by the red, white & blue jeweled bald eagle on his jumpsuit, wanted to showcase the USA to the world! Remember now, this was broadcast via satellite to multiple countries! This song was part of the tribute to the US! Elvis was a pioneer in so many aspects! First worldwide broadcast by an entertainer, watched by 1 billion people! ☮️🖖🏽

This is one of my favourite Elvis songs ever when my time comes this is one of the songs I’m having in church Elvis was born in Tupelo Mississippi on 8th of January 1935 and then bought his home in Memphis he named his home Graceland he was born in the ghetto and always promised his mother one day I’m going to buy you a big house and he did she only lived in it for 1 year because sadly she died Elvis never got over her death .All the songs you were talking about were in the 50s he had plenty of big hits in the 60s and 70s Elvis sadly past away on the 16 of August 1977 he was just 42yrs old and it feels like yesterday I still miss him so much he was the greatest entertainer that ever lived no one comes close and never will Love 💕 from Denise in Yorkshire England 👑👑👑🤴🤴🤴🕺🏻🕺🏻🕺🏻🎸🎸🎸👏👏👍👋😘
