  • Caveat: I am a novice to FPV (so no p*ss-taking please ; ) we all have to start somewhere.
    Ok, I have been flying DJI drones for over 6 years but have NEVER flown FPV. I had my finger on the buy button for a traditional FPV drone set up last year and then the rumours started to surface about the DJI FPV drone.
    As a beginner to FPV, I thought it best to start with something that had a few safety features because my bank balance can't handle multiple repairs plus I don't have much "tinkering" time.
    This is just a short video to show that even if you are competent to a degree in an FPV simulator such as Velocidrone which I have been using, it doesn't give you much confidence AT ALL in the real world. This is something you simply have to do at some point like when you took the stabilisers off your first bike!
    I only fly in acro mode for a short while here but will upload more videos as I progress. I will be uploading an image comparison video soon between the DJI FPV drone and a couple of other cameras (Mavic Air 2, Mini 2 and Go Pro 9).
    I will also upload the video of when I first received the drone on release with my overall first impressions.
    My thoughts on this drone after a short while are that it is a bundle of fun and great starter FPV drone. However, the jury is out on the image quality until I throw some filters on it and spend more time in post production.
    ...but I think this is the start of something beautiful...

    Hi .. nice new info , thanks. Can you toggle and return back from manual to sport or normal modes while doing manual mode flying?

    • @NickStubbs
      @NickStubbs  2 года назад +1

      Yes you can. There is a button on the back of the controller that when hit, will immediately put you back to normal mode. It's known as the panic button and is used quite a bit 😁.

      @@NickStubbs thanks for the reply .. got your point 😂😂 use the panic button to hold it first then switch to the desired flying mode .. thanks man .. subscribed immediately.👍🏻

    Nicely put mate, I had about 8 hours in the sim before even putting the goggles on. I found flying it in normal or sport before manual was quite confusing as my muscle memory had just got used to manual mode, so I went straight into manual and let rip. Absolutely loved it and had about 6 battery’s worth of flying now, getting better and better and more confident every time.

      Great stuff and good advice. I'm on the sim now so will go straight into manual mode tomorrow...no messing 👍

      Totally agree with you. Switching back and forth between normal and manual really messes with your brain. Controls are totally different. I cannot fly in normal/sports mode.

      Does it switch yaw from left to right? The sim made left stick opposite aileron roll. I can fly FPV manually but not like that.

    • @NickStubbs

      @@Balthorium No, mine is the same as the Velocidrone sim but I'm pretty sure you can change it in the settings anyway.

    Thanks for this comparison. I've been flying in liftoff for about 30 hours now and still haven't pulled the trigger and fly the DJI FPV in manual. I guess it's not so bad after all!

    You should download Dji Virtual Flight. It’s the actual simulator for your drone. Also anyone can try it even with out the controller.

      DJI Virtual Flight is a very bad simulator. Physics sucks!!!!

    • @mywy1std33
      @mywy1std33 3 года назад

      @@GustavoTestaCorrea If you’ve flown the Dji FPV drone the physics in Virtual Flight are really close to the real quad. What the sim doesn’t really give you a feel for is the sense of speed of this quad in real life. Feels much faster actually flying it.

      @@mywy1std33 I flew it and returned it to dji. Lift off simulator is so much better for real fpv practice. Sorry, my opinion is that both the the dji drone and the simulator are garbage. Better to buy the nazgul5 with the dji fpv system.

    What controler are you using in Velcidrone? I only have the FPV Combo controler. How would you compare the DJI FPV Simulator in manual mode to REAL manual mode? Thanks!!

    • @NickStubbs
      @NickStubbs  3 года назад

      Hi Alex, I'm using a cheap-ish Flysky FS-i6 with Velocidrone. I wasn't sure about the whole FPV thing so didn't spend too much. I haven't used the DJI sim but flying real FPV is quite different to a sim but only because your mind is on the money you could potentially lose.
      It has taken about 4 flights in Acro mode to start to feel the same confidence as in the sim. My advice, start high to give yourself time to correct before hitting the "rescue" button on the dji fpv drone if you get one.
