    You said its straight out of a C63, it's not! The M156 was first introduced into the w211, well before production of w204. 🙂

    Great review of the AMG Mercedes, Ross. They really were a head of their time back in 2008. Still a great looking car. A quick 0-100 too. The owner has done good job keep it original and still looking like a new car. A real credit to the owner. Really enjoyed the review. Keep them coming.

    This "old" E63 AMG is much much more better then the brand new one in my opinion. The new one is with out a V8. It is now a 4 cylinder with an electric engine. Aweful. This is not what I expected in an AMG. The cars here in Germany getting worst. Not only from the engine wise, but also from the look, sound and weight. Because of this I am still driving a tuned and weight reduced BMW 330d (E46) from 2001. It is a 6 cylinder diesel with torque

    • @Gregsheppo66
      @Gregsheppo66 Год назад

      Wait till you drive one before dismissing it. The power & torque is insane & it feels nimble rather than a lead weight. If it wears the AMG badge you can be assured it’s beyond high performance regardless of the power train.

      They often have new regulations they have to meet in regards to producing new engines.

      @@Gregsheppo66 For me: most of the new cars (also the brand new AMG E63) are driving computers with less emotions (no or fake exhaust sound + no feeling in the steering + nearly no buttons and so on in the car all touch screen,...). And this is really nothing I want. All the new cars are to heavy to be fast in sharp corners and so on. I also own a completely tuned and weight reduced JCW MINI R53 beside my BMW 330d (E46). This on an other level in corners (1100 kilogram) and 257 hp at 7700 rpm. I see it, when fast and new cars drive tight behind me: no chance in corners. This is another world. Less weight is the important thing to be fast and not only to be fast in the straight line. And I also love manual gearboxes. Sorry, but new cars have nothing to offer for me what I want

    • @Gregsheppo66
      @Gregsheppo66 Год назад

      @@chrisflorian4308 you prefer a diesel??? 😂😂 mate no offence but you need to expand your horizons & drive more cars. You speak of handling & performance but you drive an old e46??? New cars outperform older cars regardless of weight or how many buttons, which replace switches. If you want to control your car’s performance you need buttons. Newer cars are lighter than older cars so I don’t know why you think your old car isn’t a boat anchor. I’m 56 & have driven ALOT of cars & remember the years you say you prefer & while I admit there were some great cars back then they can compete with modern cars.
      Remember it’s not all about the car but the driver also plays a massive part. I saw Ayrton Senna drive the wheels off a Honda Civic on a Grand Prix circuit & he made that car do things I never dreamed possible.

      @@Gregsheppo66 Diesel are not slow. Special if you drive a completly modded 3 liter 6 cylinder diesel like in my case. My car is faster then a new Porsche Taycan 4S for example. A few weeks ago a had a battle against one on the Autobahn. My father also drives a tuned BMW M135 from 2013. This car is a lot slower around corners (much weight). A new BMW M4 weights over 1700 kilogram. This is a lot heavier then all the older M3 models. This is the same case with AMG, Porsche, Audi, VW,.... All the newer cars a lot heavier here in Germany. I also own a JCW MINI R53 (pretrol). And the quality from newer cars are in the most cases really not that good. Some of my friends own newer cars like AMG C43 and so one: only problems (paintshop, electronics, dashbord, particulate filter,..). Here in Germany excists tuned BMW M3 (E46) that outruns new Porsches on the Nürburgring. E46 are very good and tuned very fast cars in my opinion. My father owns this car since 2001 and since a few years I am driving it. No problems until now with this BMW 330d (E46). Have you ever driven a tuned BMW 330d (E46) with sports suspension, weight reduced and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 tires (semi slicks) ?

    I'm owning e63w211 2006 production for the last 5 years. I've done 70 thousans km with only few issues. Shock absorber accelerate sensor and very common which is oil leaks. Apart of that it run perfectly. If you just want to have v8 and reliability go for lexus gs430. Probably that's the best compromise. Regarding to W211 obviously there are issues with this car like for example headblts. Mine one is still running on original ones with 162000km on clock but I decided to change them this year. If you go for dealer obviously it will be expensive. You need to have independent Mercedes mechanic.

    This or the older W211 E55 AMG? The M113k from all accounts is more reliable, but the M156 sounds way better. Back in the day, I baited one of these E63's into doing a pull on the highway one night. Holy mother of god it took off quick from a roll on at 100km/h...
