Ted, I have watched almost your entire library of videos at this point. I never doubt your abilities to remove a fan or blower from a shaft! Or perform any other repairs, regardless of what the comments from viewers. I also thank you for the tips I have learned that help me do a better job. Best regards from snowy Chicago.

I spent 45 years in a service truck before I retired. I enjoy watching your videos, and I agree with everything you’re doing. Here’s a little trick for worst case scenario. Center punch the end of the motor shaft slightly off centered towards the flat spot on the shaft. Drill hole down the center of the shaft towards the motor. Keep increasing the bit size and you will eventually make a cut right down the flat spot of the motor shaft, which gives it slack to come out of the fan blade or blower wheel. If you have a good drill and a good set of drill, bitch, you will be amazed at how quick you can do this.

Great video ! Yep , My Dad Taught Me this EXACT method 40 Years ago. Has NEVER Failed me. Only thing I do different is I use WD-40. I LOVE WD-40 !!! It Has Worked Great for me over all these years. I Don’t even Have a Puller on the Truck or its buried so deep somewhere I have not seen it in many years.
    1) Next Motor I get like this - I have a possible improvement to this method. Use a 4” grinder to sand the shaft ( much quicker I’m thinking )
    2) I saw a guy the other day use a wire wheel on a cordless drill instead of the sand paper. I’ll try that too. Thats a possible upgrade to this method.

Curtis (HVAC Guy) uses a wire wheel on the shafts that seems pretty quick and easy for removing the rust.

The first one I remember doing was in circa 1977, sixteen years old. Change out on a 50s Carrier air handler.

That would be a good thing doing it in real time Theodore. If clients are paying you by the hour they want you in and out for the least amount of money. Even with a puller you should be cleaning the shaft before trying to remove the motor from the wheel. What do you do with motors that have had the shaft cut because it was too long and they did a hack job when they cut it. We all know that with enough time any motor can be pulled without a puller, but time is money( the clients money). Thanks 👍👍🇨🇦

Saw someone here use a puller yesterday with the added help of an impact drill. Damn! They think it looks fancy I guess. I personally like the challenge. But I did use my puller a few years ago, to wedge some boxes to keep them from sliding around in the truck.

I'm going to try the Jack of all sprays. The other one Ted mentioned was the Deep Creep that I've been using. Worked great on some 2" BMI unions, when I recently replaced a steam boiler.

Thank you for teaching me something new. Iv'e fought with a blower once or twice, but I never thought to drive in on further before cleaning the shaft.
On a related subject, can anyone tell me the optimal positon for the blower wheel within the housing?
Iv'e always just tried to center it. It might not even matter if its not centered.

If you want a real challenge, move to the beach, that shaft in the video is a two week old motor. Believe me, it can be sand paper, drill bits, pullers, touches, sledgehammers. I've pulled, pullers in half. Good video though for everyday in land stuff. Stay safe.

The initial "bust free" is not done by spinning, but by tapping the wheel DOWN further onto the shaft. I have had some very difficult ones before.... ruclips.net/video/98OACPxnydk/видео.html
