South America does have their own native bear species called the spectacled bear. It is only short face bear alive to this day (it's ancestors were much larger than the modern bears of today). This bear lives in the mountains of Peru and Columbia. Its appearance is a black bear with a pink nose and an X shaped tan brown face mask with the black eye masks similar to a raccoon or a panda. If the bear makes noise to scare you, it's more likely a bluff and you should show that you aren't a threat (without running). If there bear makes no noise and seems interested in you, show that you're a threat because it's either assessing to see how ideal you are as prey or walking up on you to position itself (probably) for an attack from the rear with flanking motion. Bears that are smaller, injured, sick or very hungry are the most dangerous.

@Wayne Wayne listen, I leave the food then get away from the bear. Once I'm far enough I run out of the forest. While I'm doing this she is eating the food.
Also, if you have a bookbag or any other type of bag on you with food, drop it and then slowly back away, the bear may just be interested in the food considering that their sense of smell is stronger than most other animals.
I heard a few hikers did graphene muscle tissue implants and it was effective. Graphene is 200 times stronger than steel so when infused with organs and muscle, you’re resistant to most physical attacks Then of course there’s Carbyne LAC which is 400 times stronger than steel, but it’s not in production yet. We’ve only made a few molecules in a lab. 😅 In all seriousness, these are real materials that have insane potential, and I could see them one day be used for body armor or even muscle tissue/organ/bone infusion If a human were to have these sorts of implants, well let’s just say they would be something from science fiction, their skin literally deflecting missiles, artillery and bullets Like a superhuman
When the Europeans first started communicating with the natives in the West they were told "don't even try fighting grizzlies, bullets just make them angrier" and imagining something even bigger that WANTS to eat you is horrifying
I’d never lay down and play dead, I’d shout make lots of noise. Also never walk alone in the woods where bears might be. At least have a dog with you, the bigger the better. A long strong stick with a sharpe edge on it in case the bear does attack. You can harden the edge in fire to make it stronger. Never turn your back on them, face them and slowly back off.
I have only encountered black bears, and even if they see you I have found they are generally not a threat. As long as you know you are coming, black bears won't attack as far as I have encountered they would prefer to stay away. Oh and also remember to use a bear cache or bear hang, and sleep away from it.

0:58 this made me face palm so hard lol. Native Americans thought bears were these forces of nature, and the strongest warrior on earth couldn’t kill them. They had a code for bears, and it’s that guns only make them angrier, getting closer for melle attacks gets you killed more painfully, and running only makes it faster. Some every day josh couldn’t slay one like this lol. Don’t even get me started on how people thought of polar bears
In the introduction of the video, they said they can teach you how you can survive bear attacks. The first recommendation is that you have to identify the bear. If the bear has brown medium dark fur, round ears and long claws it is a brown bear. Or if the bear has a straight facial profile, tall ears, short claws,no hump above the shoulder and is 1.5 metres tall , it’s black bear. And the last one, a polar bear has white fur, a short tail and massive paws, his body stretching up a whopping 3.3 metres. (whooping = surprising) The second recommendation is to read the room because not all bears are aggressive, for example black bears, but if you are in the Arctic and the polar bears are walking behind you, you have to worry. The third recommendation is to use bear spray, this works on all bears. You should keep it in your front pocket. You have to aim for the bear's mouth, nose and eyes. Wait until the bear is 10 metres in front of you,use the spray and then run. If you don’t have bear spray, you have to choose your strategy, if you are with a black bear you don’t have to climb trees because they are the best climbers and don't play dead, they don't fall for that. But the best way to survive is to avoid meeting bears in the first place.
Black Bears (Ursus Americans) are NOT always black in colour!!! Yet this video distinguishes Grizzlies (Ursus arctos horribilis) as “brown bears” as in 4:15 “You don’t want to run from a brown bear.” It’s important to know the physical features and the unmistakable shoulder *hump* of the Grizzly. To avoid a bear encounter, make noise (sing, talk, wear a bell) and especially increase your volume near running water (streams - and lakes with streams running into or out of them - usually the case in the mountains). Wild bears usually avoid people... they may know you are there, but may remain hidden. Just don’t surprise them by being silent. Don’t expect to stealthily bike through the forest without potentially pissing off a bear. You have given them no warning of your presence...that’s just good apex-predator etiquette! A Grizzly can outrun a racehorse so don’t count on riding away unscathed if you’ve angered it. Grizzlies don’t climb... but can stand 9-ish feet tall... or simply push a tree down. Grizzlies like to bury their “food” and eat it days later after it starts to rot. That’s why playing dead may work during a Grizzly attack. Black Bears (black, brown, red, blonde) like to eat their food FRESH. They will not bury you... so there is no buying time that way. Bear spray is great if it’s the type that fires as a long projectile and you’ve got good aim. Be careful of the wind direction or you’ll be the one sprayed.
4:00 Black bears: definitely never play dead. Here's why: young male black bears are VERY curious, will bite you and try to eat you out of curiosity to figure out if they can eat things like you. I read that years ago. Also, bears are hungrier in the spring. Brown bears will attack you when feeling threatened. So stop moving and it might leave you alone, eventually.
I like to do lots of research whenever I go somewhere so that I can make the most of my time there. Most importantly to ensure I don't potentially encounter one of these bears. If your in your vehicle & watching one from a distance that's great.
I remember a haunting Joe Rogan clip that talked about a polar bear seeing a group of people and just started charging at them from ice block to ice block and took one of the people.

@@muhammadusmanrafique3517Yh ig I'm not really a big fan of history because it's not all that beneficial but in my school its mandatory
So about 3 weeks back i had an encounter with a male black bear, it was 3 am i was doing my early morning exercise walk and i seen him, he seen me laid down and of course i kept my eye on him backing away slowly he didn't care he just laid there relaxing, now even though that he didn't do anything that doesn't mean its safe to go near them or bother them just leave them be.
You can deter bears from entering camp sites with a portable electric bear fence. Small kit that brings huge peace of mind.
Bro the bear really just roundhouse kicked a man in the beginning 😂
That was a commercial for i think john west canned fish...
(whooping = surprising)
The second recommendation is to read the room because not all bears are aggressive, for example black bears, but if you are in the Arctic and the polar bears are walking behind you, you have to worry.
Wolf: huh a polar bear that’s easy polar bear: hold my moose
Well Dey do eat moose
Polar bear: hold my beluga whale
if you play dead in front of a polar bear, soon you,ll have trouble playing alive
But if you playing dead what if the bear is hungry it's just gonna eat you
Black bears especially, they will eat you up if you try playing dead!
Black Bears (Ursus Americans) are NOT always black in colour!!! Yet this video distinguishes Grizzlies (Ursus arctos horribilis) as “brown bears” as in 4:15 “You don’t want to run from a brown bear.”
It’s important to know the physical features and the unmistakable shoulder *hump* of the Grizzly.
Yes! This will be so helpful! Thank you!

If you don't have a bear spray, then first buy one
0:22 *TF WAS THAT XD???*
You might do well to research about the sloth bear. That too is really interesting.
Yup
I think if the grizzly wants to eat you, pretending to be dead is not helpful
I would be the dumb one to go up to it and cuddle it, o.o
There's a saying about bears. See a black bear, show no fear. See a grizzly bear, make sure you ain't near. See a polar bear, say your final prayer. 😅
0:23 Lmfao
Will it be straight death if the bear is biting u or attacking you?
Will play dead still work??
1:34 oml.. that guy got punched in the gut
What about sloth bears? Or sun bears? Or spectacled bears? Or Asiatic black bears? Why is it only ever about North American bear species?
I like to do lots of research whenever I go somewhere so that I can make the most of my time there.
Most importantly to ensure I don't potentially encounter one of these bears.
If your in your vehicle & watching one from a distance that's great.
I remember a haunting Joe Rogan clip that talked about a polar bear seeing a group of people and just started charging at them from ice block to ice block and took one of the people.
Dwight would be so enthused to watch this!
My uncle once encountered a polar bear. He played dead. The bear sat next to him. Wept and cried. And then he dug a grave and buried him.
Can you do more serious and informative videos in life cases? This is like a joke!!! Especially first half

“That was an oval! It has to be a circle!”

@3:35 What's the movie with the guy holding the fish and the girl running in the green sweatshirt and escaping from the grizzly?
