Only just started with watercolours, found your channel, loved it, and got heartbroken that your Patreon is now closed and those tutorials are inaccessible... Hope you're doing ok, and just took a long break, your videos are super good and I wish I get to see more of your tutorials one day... will keep myself subscribed and with the bell rung to ensure I find you if you do come back :)
Love this piece! I adore how you paint the skin of your subjects; the touches of blush on each joint, the line weight, the shading... just **chef's kiss**
Thank you!! They brushes look so nice don’t they? And they perform really nicely too because they hold a really decent amount of water without it being too much 🖤
The mist is so lovely! Wet on wet can always be scary. Sometimes I find myself procrastinating when I need to add a big wash of color to a painting because I don’t know how it will turn out and I don’t want to ruin everything.
You and me both! It’s always the part where I stall and am too afraid to continue 🙈 the best advice I have for this is to just go for it, if you have to start again it’s frustrating but you will learn a lot so it’s all useful 🖤🖤
Great video and the painting looks just lovely! I would definitely enjoy a video on swatching and getting into the more technical bits of these Qor paints aha!
Very beautiful, delicate work! I loved this piece. I often use wet o wet tu simulate distant trees and branches, or to try to emulate an out of focus background, but I definitely need more practice. I struggle with judging when the paper is wet enough and I often end up with puddles hehehe.
It’s a struggle isn’t it! To avoid puddles do you stretch your paper with clean water before you paint? It should help prevent buckling and therefore pooling 🤗 it’s a great technique for the things you described and I never use it enough (something I’m trying to change) 🖤
I really learned a lot from you 🙌 I'm excited now to try painting hope my skills will improve little by little by watching your tutorials you really made it fun and easy. More power and new opportunities will come on your vlogg 🤗☺
Omg James, the way you did the clouds were so freaking amazing!! I might pick up that technique soon. Seems comfortable because it's as though you were playing with the water and paint. Also, the way you did the skintone is just splendid. I love the colors you used. And I don't know if you ever read this but, you are my biggest inspiration right now. Everytime you upload new content on YT & IG, I get very excited and then it inspires me to paint and improve! 💖 Thank you so much!
Hey Rana! Your comment was so lovely to read, I’m delighted to hear that my teeny corner of the Internet inspired you and I hope when you paint you have as much fun as I do. I’m planning a technique tutorial for wet in wet soon so hopefully that will help you practise 🖤🖤
Thank you! I used to make women’s clothing and was always so inspired by something Alexander McQueen said about his clothes: “It's almost like putting armor on a woman. It's a very psychological way of dressing.” That’s how I like to paint women too 🖤
It's gorgeous James ! So so pretty, everytime I think watercolor is a no no, everytime I see one of your painting and video I want to try again... 😂 And NO, i won't play Fortnite with you 😘😂😘
What an amazing painting! I really love your technique and your colour choices, you are really talented! P.S: I just wanted to say to people that see this and they think about buying QoR watercolours...please don't. They test on animals (and they don't even aim to stop). Art should be done without animals suffering because of it, let alone when they are so many brands that don't do this. Thank you so much.
I’m gonna support ur Patreon ur watercolor tutorial helps a lot. I’m learning watercolor and I’m a bit nervous about it, I hope that I get better at it
Hey I just found your channel exploring mixing skin tones, and just wanted to let you know your tutorials were so clear and helpful. Subsequently I also watched extra videos to see how you actually applied the tones to portrait painting, and I love how glowing her skin looks. Keep up the good work and I will look out for your videos in the future 👍👍 Oh and yes for Qor video. I might consider to get primary colours for skin tone as you said they are quite staining to layer 😍 Like I need any more paints in my overcrowded palette 🤣
I was just thinking the same thing?.... I truly hope that he is ok ... James is a brilliant Artist and a wonderful teacher so I really hope we hear from again! ...Rus from Pennsylvania
@@Finelinernerd Brilliant, why spend on expensive equipment save the pennies for the things that really matter, paper, paint and brushes!! How is your 2021 sketchbook progressing? Are you still on target to fill it by December?
Exactly! 🤗 about the sketchbook omg no, I have literally only done that one page but I need to get back to it soon or I’ll miss my deadline 🙈🙈 how’s everything going for you art wise?

Thank you so much! That means the world to hear that honestly 🖤🖤
Your videos are amazing, when will you show us some more of your beautiful art?
Really enjoying your videos. I don't know if your channel is finished like your patreon, but thank you for posting these and for all the inspiration!
The way you paint the skin never fails to impress me; though I could say that with just you painting in general. You are amazing! 😁👌🏽
First of all I love those brushes.
Secondly this is such a gorgeous piece of art.
Wow.

Man you are a watercolor genius.😊 I have never seen anybody capture QOR like you do.
Also those paints flow soooo beautifully. Watching them flow into the clouds from the bodice sold me on them, and now I want to paint with them
Omg in the real-time video I get all excited and worried because it’s getting messy at that part 😂 but I got it under control luckily haha
Please make a skillshare class because you explain things very well and make it easy to understand :D
I’ve honestly been thinking about it a lot lately, I’d love to do a series of tutorials 🖤
@@Finelinernerd yeey! :D
Can you go back making videos please? We miss u!
Amazing James. How much I love your work. 😘😘😘
Thanks Raquel! 🖤🖤

those clouds are so beautiful wow.
Thanks Yvonne! 🖤
I am a member of the Payne's grey gang, whenever I try different brands I always grab their paynes grey first.✌
Beautiful job!!! Looooove it!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Mister, can i ask wich books did you use to learn draw anime/manga and watercolor?
please make a new video 🤧, I love your paint so much 🙏💙
and the palette is a serving plate?
The palette is indeed a plate 😅 they’re cheaper than ceramic palettes for artists so while it seems extra it’s economical haha 🖤
