Hi Svend. I’ve recently purchased a boat with 2 Volvo penta ad31 engines and would just like to say to you a huge thank you for your excellent videos. I have found then most interesting and so helpful when working on my engines. You’re a star👍
Hi Svend Dave from Uk and now living in Alicante Spain . I just bought a Chranchi 32 with Tamd 41s there run fine. But great to find your easy step video on servicing engines .top man. Keep videos of them coming. Best Regards Dave Lloyd
I beg you to continue! I too have two ad41s (an A and D model) and this is helping incredibly! I plan on doing much of this myself since I am an American living in Japan and have lost a ton of money, patience, knowledge, and experience waiting for my shade tree mechanic to repair issues just to get it done yet again. I own this boat and it's time I got more intimate with the 2 hearts that are breaking mine... Great job!
Sir, Thank you so very much You are extremely valuable and I wish I had your videos before I started the work on my TAMD 31D which is of course highly similar. Please keep this site up you are a ray of light.
Dear Sven, Very interesting series. I learned a lot about this motor. I have it in my sailboat, and it definitely needs some more attention. So, your input is very valuable. Thank you for sharing this with us. Kind regards from Nieuwpoort in Belgium.
I am doing this job on the heat exchanger today and this is so very helpful to me. Keep up the videos in English. My Father was Norwegian from Lista and a good mechanic.
Cleaning the pipes using a small firearm cleaning tool, like the .22 caliber, is known to be an efficient way to remove the residual "gum". Use the nylon brush though, not the cobber or brass one. Very nice spoken english. Keep'em comming.
Thanks, Svend! I just recently found your videos. I am from Finland and I greatly appreciate that you chose to do these in english. My boat has a TAMD41 and I have learned a great deal about it just by watching these videos.
I have a pair of TAMD41P and I keep looking back to these videos to prepare for maintenance to come. They have low hours but will soon need servicing due to sitting. Thank you for these easy to follow videos, and the effort put in to making them entertaining as well.
Great job.. Thank you svent for your great videos. I’m from Aqaba-Jordan and have Twin TAMD 41 in my Fairline 32’ Sedan. Could you please make a video about diesel pump repair. I have a white smoke coming out. Please continue doing videos.
Thanks a lot, Svend! This made me motivated to clean out my heat-exchanger, on my Tamd 41a. It pushes my Norwegian Apollo 3001 turbo from 1990 which I bought in southern Norway last year. Now it lives in Copenhagen. Cheers! Dan looking forward to getting help from your other excellent videos! Tak skal du have :)
good suggestion on the vinegar and water. keeping the brass or copper clean or cleaning out a dirty diaper of a heat exchanger to re flow the braze joints seen it done saving that engine is very smart love it keep it up
Hi Svend, Per your request at the end of this video, I am in the states, and I only understand the english at this time. Great video! As Dan mentioned, I just purchased a boat with twin TAMD41's, and really appreciate you taking your time to share your knowledge on maintenance of these engines. BTW, I didn't vote for Don the Con! Not MY president! Thanks, Phred
Hi Svend I am enjoying your series of videos as I am going to do a major service on my 1989 Perkins 275 hp turbo witch is in a 36 ft Fairway cruiser There is not much info on this engine so thanks for effort Cheers Steve Doyle I live on Lake Macquarie NSW Australia
Great Job Svend, your series have been an enormous help for me. You've helped me feel confident about taking on the full overhaul of my two VP tamd40 B engines that I thought I would never have the time to do. Thanks man ♠ Cheers!
Takk for bra video! Veldig nyttig info og fint presentert. Eg skal snart ta vedlikeholdet på min TAMD41B for første gong, så då er desse videoene gode å få med seg. :)

Muchísimas gracias, una explicación muy clara de un mantenimiento importantísimo.
Hi Svend great video. I have 2 41A and I wonder how to drain all of the coolant. It says, that I will have to expect around 19 Liters. Do they all come out without flushing? Which coolant did you use? In Germany the 'Volvo Green' is almost not available any more, it's forbidden. What do you use?
Great Video, thank you very much! I will have to overhaul my Pentas myself. Unfortunately they are very difficult to remove. Doyou think it is possible to overhaul them while they are still in the boat?
Great video. QUESTION for you Svend (and all): Where can I most easily find Volvo parts that are no longer in production/obsolete? I’m searching for a heat exchanger insert (Volvo part 844888) for a TAMD40A. Not having much luck
Your videos are excellent. How easy or difficult is it to remove and clean the injectors on this engine? This is the same engine I have on my boat but can't find anything on RUclips showing how to remove them. Thanks and keep up the great work.
Hi! It's the same engine, just with two less cylinders. Most of the parts will be interchangeble between the engins, but some are not. To be shure you get the correct parts, check with youre local volvo penta dealer, or the volvo penta online shop. Good luck!

Thanks for doing the series in English! Really great demonstrations and explanations.
What a great video, it can be hard to get good mechanics to come to our marina, so this is just brilliant!
Really good information you have made my life easyer and gave me confindance to have a go myself. thank you. North Wales.

Many thanks for making this, I have two AD41's these vids were really helpful in tracking down a water leak.
Please continue. My partners and I just acquired a 28ft walkabout fishing boat with this engine. Learning how to maintain it would go a long way.

Cant wait for more , Bringing back an 87 Aqad 41A
Hi Svend. Thank you for the great video.
Great video. It would have been a good idea since 99% will not have their engine out of the boat to say first close the seawater inlet. André

Så fine videoer, Svend - tak!!! Stor inspiration til selv at gå i gang med at vedligeholde min AQAD41A i min norske Windy 24 DC :-)
Many thanks for this video. I had an impeller break up this summer and the pieces disappeared so I am pretty sure I need to clean the heat exchanger.

Great video. QUESTION for you Svend (and all): Where can I most easily find Volvo parts that are no longer in production/obsolete? I’m searching for a heat exchanger insert (Volvo part 844888) for a TAMD40A. Not having much luck
Try searching for the part and don't use TAMD40A use the horsepower rating like 200HP or whatever that one is. André
Your videos are excellent. How easy or difficult is it to remove and clean the injectors on this engine? This is the same engine I have on my boat but can't find anything on RUclips showing how to remove them. Thanks and keep up the great work.

Alt ser så enkel ut når motor er inne på et verksted. Jeg demonterte varmeveksler ombord det er et rent helvete.
