Content is always enjoyable (woodsman, traditional archer, ethical hunter, character)... and your artistry is always so beautiful (filmmaking/editing/storytelling)... congrats, thanks for sharing, happy new year!
Eating the tenderloin of a deer that you just harvested is one of the greatest joys of living a life well lived. Fortunately, I have had the privelege of experiencing this a few times. Thanks for sharing this with us. Great vid, as usual.

I must admit I’m envious of you guys. I’m in the U.K. where we can’t really do much of the kind of things in this video and it’s my idea of heaven. In recent years I’ve become drawn to (possibly obsessed with) that lifestyle.
Great hunt Clay. Nice to see some Midwest Whitetail tactics mixed with Western. Only recently have traditional bowhunters in this area started using loadshelfs and packing out Whitetails. In Mo they can get big and require two packs but its still more efficient then dragging. Treestands in the pines would be fun...congrats on the tenderloin!! Good job.
Well Clay I have to say, you have managed to capture on video what we dream about all year! That video was as satisfying as cooking a tenderloin on a campfire! Thanks for sharing your adventures sir!
Man, Clay, 10 days is a LONG hunting trip under cold and rugged conditions. Yet, I'm still jealous. Remember my offer to hand you off a good black locust stave if you ever come through Utah. Springbuck.
Love the fire starting technique, praying for snow seems weird for the rookies amongst us. Hoping for some dry or just very cold weather here in the UK 🇬🇧 so I can drive my car to within a few hundred yards of my high seat / tree stand rifle hunt. 😂. My 64 years is really no excuse just very different geography. Amazed that you are able to film and hunt so well. As always, thanks for sharing.
I've recently found your channel, and im enthralled with your adventures. I've hunted (mostly fowl and furbearers) a good bit, but your channel has encouraged me to take a step back and look at it from a more traditional angle. I've purchased a 40 caliber muzzle loader and it will be my hunting rifle in fall/winter of 2025. Hunting is a task by itself without filming it, too, and I sincerely thank you for putting in the extra labor to share this stuff with us. I'm a Florida guy, and I also enjoy your Florida content! God bless; good hunting.
Ohhhh you’ll be catching hell from someone about how you put out that fire! 😀 That’s the easiest retrieve I’ve ever seen. Happy eating and a happy new year Clay!
😮 That has GOT to be a once in a lifetime experience! Ya definitely don't have to do much tracking in such a situation😅 I love that you used modern forms of ignition as well. You sometimes show your butane torch or lighter in fire starting videos, but I'm so accustomed to watching your primitive survival series that I often forget that are still a modern man. That fresh tenderloin strip looked mighty delicious too.
I arrowed a good bear that did the same thing took off and ran right into a tree about 5 yards away and died , back in the mid 90's . Thanks enjoy seeing your stuff Clay !!!
I live vicariously through these videos. I wish I was able to stuff like this, medical issues limit me from going off the grid.. its pissed me off my entire life
I had a trip last winter. My friend was hiking with me to show me an area i could set up... hes got a beautiful husky. It was a 2 mile hike across questionable ice. And i think his dog recognized that... or maybe she just did not like the slush on her paws. But she ran off right after we hit the ice. It was scary and i was worried the whole week i was out there. But when i got back... it was just like i said... "she will probably be waiting at the truck for you when you get back. And sure enough... she was. Dogs are kind of smart that way. She remembered where we parked and she went right back. But there were cayotes out there. Luckily bears were hibernating. But he was really worried the cayotes would get her. But yea. I feel for your buddy. Its nerve wracking not knowing. Im glad your buddys pup showed back up.
I just love everything you produce content wise. Just watched your elk moccasin video yesterday as well. Makes me feel like im hunting with you(if only) and makes me want to make more and more things. Thank you Clay
Your camera work, the hunting cabin, incredible dude. This whole experience was just amazing to watch. Love it and thank you so much for sharing my brother congratulations
As one who's just 4 weeksinto hip joint replacement recovery, makes me wince to see ya shoulder that pack for return trip to camp! Congrats on the hunt and, hopefully, all the ones in your future.
Clay, As you’re filming the deer, moving in front of the camera with ease, I think that we all stopped moving, including our eyeballs know that we might even scare off the deer. Geez, watching your videos take a lot out of us too. Best of luck… for snow. Skillet
Great tactic to utilize the tree stand for the late season hunts. I've been wondering about packing a tree stand up the mountain for the late season rut hunt here in southern Idaho. It's tough to stalk in on the crunchy snow. Great video!
Just wanted to say idk how I came across your channel i haven’t owned or shot a bow in over 25 years. Anyways I decide to take up archery because of you. My recurve will be delivered in a few days. Cheers and happy new year.
Clay, there's some really good cheap $15 -$20 5W VHF radios from Quansheng that might be helpful in that location 👍 Drives me crazy watching you chop & split wood so easy. I'm in Australia, we've got the hardest, knottiest woods in the world here and huge areas of the country have only tiny reserves of soft wood 🫤
Jax is such a spaz. Did he not have his collar on? He is a great dog when we hunt with him. I cant tell you how many hounds tongue ive pulled out of that pup. Its funny to hear you say Tiege and see Brennus' dog. I hope some day we can meet . Love your content hope to see more in the future.
Two things that stand out, well more than just two, I'll just point out two, "bouncy" the term for chewy venison. Yup I had tenderloins from a good size buck this fall, 218 pounds and it was bouncy, fresh that evening fried on the stove at home. it hung for a week before I started to cut it up slowly over the next week about 2 weeks before I was finished picking at the bones, every thing so far has been free of bounce. Second is snow covered ground and you didn't spend any time putting out the fire, people get carried away with fire extinguishing, I would have left it burning as it with that snow on the ground, it would have burned most of itself up into just a bit of ash and a few chunks of coal, sitting enjoying itself till its time was due.
this is the real bow hunting since the beginning of human civilization.

Wow, thanks so much!
i needa bow. can throw me a bone be sweeet too =D
I love your style of hunting video. No obnoxious background music, just the sounds of the woods. Well done!
Dude! I have never been that excited about a hunt I wasn’t involved in! I loved every second! Well done!
Glad you enjoyed

When you come from a country where it's illegal to bow hunt, these videos are just brilliant to watch. I feel like I'm there 😊
