I've been friends with workshop creators for a while. A majority of them find that Nelson's communication is abysmal and nonexistent. Also his lack of communication about the map queue and the disappointing 10 year anniversary made me view him in a less positive light. He only seems to listen to a small part of the community and disregards a lot people who are actually making change and keeping the game running. Nelson should be grateful that talented people want to work with his game but no... he just cut ties because "toxicity"(no evidence has been presented for this as far as I know). I've been apart of this game for a while and people have always said "Unturned is dead/dying" but this time it might really happen, all because of Nelson. It makes me sad that the guy I used to view as a cool dude has stooped so low.
I’m glad that you saw (and hopefully other creators will see) this video. I was worried that it may get put off due to being another “unturned is dying” video, but it seems like a lot has added up to this iteration of the threat. Hopefully Nelson will change things for the sake of his workshop creators and such, and maybe be a bit more transparent on the decision
I’m sure someone will take this as an opportunity to make something that follows in the footsteps of unturned, just as unturned followed in the footsteps of dayz and the horrors of roblox development
This is just real depressing. especially the fact i finally got burned out of cities skylines and decided to end the break i had with this game and turned back to unturned than this happened. I'm still gonna finish and work on the many projects i have for this game and hopefully i dont procrastinate on it. No matter what happens to this game, I'm gonna finish what I want to make for years

this developed kind of suddenly, hopefully this can all get resolved, because the community is what makes up unturned at this point. with the removal of some of the biggest map / mod makers, the game doesn't really have any substance anymore. (Unless nelson actually decides to start releasing a ton more vanilla content, like a new map.. ehem..)
Bruh the last few major updates were fixing an issue with cars that had been around since the game launched, adding tank tracks, and removing workshop creators. He is not cooking

I played unturned a lot with my friends even the server I work for called Ring Dong RP we treated each other not just friends we treated each other more than that like a family in the server. I had a very fun time with the people I met from time to time I really had a blast from the past I wanted to thank everyone for giving me the best moments of my time in unturned. I just don't know what to do right now like why Nelson do this way this is not my unturned no more he ruined everyone's fun and doing things wrong making it the bad ending for unturned I really don't know what to say I might completely retire unturned off my list the Kaiser's journey might be coming to an end for me if Nelson doesn't fix this.

I really miss the golden days of Unturned! I feel bad for anyone who never got to experience the magic of OG unturned. Those were some of the best gaming moments of my life unforgettable and impossible to replicate. I’m talking about the days before all the community additions, when the core game was the focus. Sure, there were some workshop mods, but nothing too crazy. It was a simpler and purer time, around 2014 to 2019
I remember unturned being the first steam game I ever played, and I also remember booting up Germany the first time I played, and being blown away by everything. I can only hope that more people get this experience
I stopped playing this game ages ago once i found out how PVP/RP focused it became. I used to play it to enjoy the survival aspects but now i've transitioned into Project Zomboid. Not sure whats going on, but i can already imagine nelson is doing stupid shit. The other day i played the original version of Unturned that was first on roblox and comparing it to current Unturned it feels like night and day.
I honestly don’t mind pvp, but Nelson is even making bad decisions regarding game direction around pvp. He won’t make any balances that seem fair, or make updates to maps and metas that would preserve the game. His system in Unturned II would have been great
PVP is fun, but I also enjoy hanging out with friends around a fire at night sorting through horde beacon loot. Also I'm praying for free ways to play with friends, kind of like how terraria did it.

I don't really enjoy juan.gutierrez2009 with 5 hours in the game finding better loot or having paid access to a /kit and wrecking me 10 seconds after spawning.

Theres a game that a friend of mine invited me to the otheres are still working on it for them its a per personal projects but its going to be like unturned with some d different stuff im not to sure im just a regular person on it its going to to be called day dead i think nvm its dead today
The game has been steadily dying for years, this was just the final nail in the coffin. I remember back in like 2014-2016 where you could join any server and they would pop off with players on a variety of maps, there were no metas and PVP was purely fun, freezer wasn't sweaty at this point and you would wait in queue for like 10 minutes sometimes to join cuz of how popular they were. Now all you have are botted steam charts statistics, boring and repetitive metas that plague every PVP scenario, freezer is pretty much dead apart from the PEI server thats get 20 people on it max a day, and even those are just the ultra-sweats, wouldn't be surprised if people stopped playing freezer cuz it got too sweaty. The only map that is played these days is just russia, and of course, everybody on these servers is russian, can't even have a conversation without getting KOS'd anymore. Of course you have stuff like panda's servers, but that stuff is so mutated into some pseudo-arcade pvp server that it doesn't even feel like unturned, vanilla is basically dead, the majority of servers that ARE popular are the servers that were modded into a different game like rusturned and unturnov (which says a lot). Game died 5 years ago in my eyes, I came back to it like a year ago with a friend and we had fun on a yukon vanilla server for a month or two, but then it started getting like 1 player a day and we just got bored. Rest in peace Unturned, thank you for all the memories, but I sure as hell am not coming to the funeral

There are some videos that sum it up, but in short, Nelson has made repeated poor decisions that have negatively affected the unturned players and the creators (modders, mappers). He refuses to accept responsibility for these things, and is basically just killing his game

Yeah a lot of item drop bots are still around. The pvp dominance isn’t due to the game getting sweatier, its due to the casual content lacking substance leading to people leaving. In 2 years, I havnt seen a single person join the pvp scene

Russians have always been the dominant players of unturned. You are noticing them more now because there are less servers at the top of your server list from north/south america, europe
the bad review is about the player base than whatever nelson did, unturned sucks cause its all pvp now, miss the time when there was pve servers with super hard maps and mods to play on
Observations like yours miss the bigger issue. Unturned didnt just magically become a pvp game. Lets say it used to be 90% pve, 10% pvp with 100,000 players. As all of the pve players stopped playing because nelson stopped updating his game, the pve player count dropped, so now its 10% pve, 90% pvp with 10,000 players.
It won't die cuz there is a clan all with 13 hours on a single server every day and there are many like them, those who don't know how to play don't put any effort to learn since they are constantly getting killed by same tryhards and just quit me personally I started with singleplayer and went onto multiplayer and I stayed cause single player made me learn the game a bit

If all Nelson did was de-list three maps from the main menu, then he's not killing the workshop scene, those maps are still downloadable from the workshop (which you should very much be acquainted with by now) and the skins from those maps still turn a profit to their respective creators, I absolutely DO NOT see how people can have a reaction this bad to something so miniscule.
