Then the two blades, if that isn't a style (I believe it is), then that's the one I use. It is also known as fighting Florentine in the SCa, just so you know...
A disadvantage of Jar'kai that is at least noted in legends that while the style is great for offense delivering a flurry of attacks it's lacking in defense using one hand for each saber means half strength in resisting attacks therefore many practitioners prefer a "offense is the best defense" mindset keeping their opponents off balance with unrelenting attacks because when the momentum turns against them their loss is soon at hand.
That's not a *weakness, Jar'Kai is a technical fighting style allowing users to attack & defend simultaneously at will; not being forced to choose between a defending style or offensive style like single saber user's. Call me biased but before I found out this was a thing in the star wars universe all of my knowledge of this fighting style comes from Niten-IchiRyu Created by Miyamoto Musashi the 🐉; he Never Lost if Yu didn't Kno this, other than that he breaks down the fighting style, mentality & technique behind the Ichiryu way ; even explain how one should be able to use "The Way " in All things; I think if continue it'll be a rabbit hole of information but this is just some insight on fighting style & for clarity the Ichiryu style utilizes ( Daishō) which the user is using a full length katana & wakasashi; this is mirrored in Star wars with the full length saber & shoto saber📚
I think you're right. I don't see Jar'kai as necessarily its own form, but rather as the based mechanics for how to use two sabers at once. If you consider the 1st 4 forms: Shii-cho, Makashi, Soresu, & Ataru, they all have different emphasise & should therefore look radically different in dual wielding.
Jar'kai is actually a variant of form 6 (the everything form 😂). Form 6 is an amalgamation of the other forms. It's used to teach jar'kai because you can take what resonates with the pieces of the other forms within form 6 and leave what doesn't.
Not quite a variant but it is a form that goes well with Jar'kai the most Take note that you can use Jar'kai in forms I, II (ventress) and V, a signature of Niman is the application of force which is very handy with Jar'kai, and therefore fulfills the purpose of attacking yet defending. Yet it also falls under the same problems the form has, which is its vulnerability to offensive forms which is VII, and II. As proven with Ahsoka, she doesn't share this weakness even if Form V contradicts her body build, because it just leaves no chances
Interesting...all the forms a basic stepping stools in forming the individual saber fighting style of any 1 Jedi or Sith. I myself use Jar'Kai, with one of the sabers inverted the majority of the time, and both sabers (through the use of Profi boards) I can turn off or on through a single touch. (Long press to turn the hilts onn and off, short press turns the blade on or off once the hilt is turned on), so my style is a Jar'Kai base with the unspoken form.
@@militiabs2518 ahhh another Skywalker/Yoda green... Cool, my wife's is Seafoam Green. I don't mind green. When I'm having to walk along the dark highway at night, I'll sometimes put them together as a Saberstaff and holding it at down my side with one green (in front) and the other red (behind). And usually I'm wearing my shades b'cause all those fugging cars with their LED headlights on high beam, practically blinding me. So, if you have a car or truck, please turn your lights down.
Nice my personal style build is similar but I would use 2 slightly shorter than normal double bladed lightsabers, one in each hand, but would only have one of the blades active on either at once, changing which is ignited at will as required as I fight, allowing for rapid, confusing blade change without having to reverse the hilt in my hands, I also would be able to cheekily extend each my blades to a standard length. Would allow overwhelming unpredictable attack stature, as well as major anti blaster defence should I decide to ignite all blades. I would also use the force to control a split saber staff, that I would manipulate above my head. And split and throw randomly at my opponent. So essentially a saber staff jar Kai, with heavy investment in telekinetic force powers.
Your explaintion is actually better and semi realistic at the same time. While simple it does further extend drastically of lightsabers form. Believe it or not there a video describing both Ashoka and Starkiller form moves. While both use Jar Kai reverse grip form, as you stated Ashoka is more flow and smooth, along with acrobats to further strengthen her fighting style. While Starkiller uses them in a form of full aggression, with the beast fully unleashed in the battle big or small, animal that open it own cage to enter the combat with unstobble force.((Yt video explaining them using reverse grips since they were Anakin apprentices, watch to understand better)). Then if we were to go in depth, Jar Kai is also describe a weakness of not having a grip while two handed is more better, hint to why Ventress uses curve hilts since they do increase a proper grip and hold. Then of course Jar Kai users are shown to be more skill in hand to hand combat. Perfect example Ashoka ams Ventress of course, but in the end. This is something I always figure and make more sense, since Jar Kai wasn't describe as the 1-7 forms, even with the pair of the Shodo light saber. So this just make everything again a whole new way of form for future star wars Jar Kai users. Imagine one being a mastee of both the offensive form and the defensive form and combine it with Jar Kai. That is something I will love to see in action.
I think they should add multiple dual wielded lightsaber forms jar'kai and others that could be based off of the single wielded forms, but cteated for dual wielding specifically instead of being single weapon forms that are modified for dual wielding making them better then a mix of jar'kai and one of the other lightsaber forms.
Good point, but well as others have already said; Jar'kai is not entirely a form of lightsaber combat, it is just the idea of dual wielding, when you grab two lightsaber at once, you have entered the Jar'kai zone. This applies to both in Canon and in legends as Jar'kai never had its own sets of disciplines only the rule of having two lightsabers. Another thing, Ahsoka doesn't use Form IV, what she has is Form V Shien. And that her and Ventress actually uses styles that heavily contradicts what befits their bodies. Form IV uses pirouettes and flips to attack, Ahsoka only uses this for evasive maneuvers but tries to use more strength based strikes and parries, a signature of Form V. While Ventress is bad at using Form II, because it's a terrible form for Jar'kai overall, as noted by Luminara, although to be fair Luminara is garbage in Lightsaber combat for a "jedi master". The best forms for it as proven in both canon and Legends are, Form I, Form IV, V, and especially VI, questionable ones are III and VII, but you are not gonna be able to get out much from II.
Your argument is invalid. Both Asajj ventress and early Ahsoka was animated in Tartovski's Clone Wars style. Fast direct movements and long pauses. But the last animation of Ahsoka is actually Motion Capture. It is the difference of animation technique not the fighting style.

jar’kai is meaning wielding two blades so it’s not an actual form like the 1-7 it’s just a principle that can be applied to the 7 forms
Thank you, not enough people understand this
It’s a form attachment
So you can do Jar'Kai with lightsaber form you use?
Then the two blades, if that isn't a style (I believe it is), then that's the one I use. It is also known as fighting Florentine in the SCa, just so you know...
So instead if saying Jar'Kai form, it's more accurate to say form V Jar'Kai? (FOR EXAMPLE)
Soresu Jar Kai enthusiasts: 👀 (yes i deleted the previous comment cause i messed up)
You'd have a point if there weren't actual offhand bkades designed to be defensive mien gaunche comes to mind
