I disagree. A person only becomes a failure if they can't bounce back from their mistakes rather than someone calling him or her a failure because that someone said so. "If you learn from defeat, you haven't really lost" - Zig Ziglar
In the school system, I always thought it would make more sense for you to have an infinite amount of chances to re-do a test. I think this way because, every time I fail a test and go over what I got wrong, I learn the material. We learn through trial and error after all. Of course, this will never happen. Schools aren't really interested in whether or not you're learning the material in the long run, they just want to rank you, compare you to other students and move you though the system quickly so that they can get the next batch of kids.
I disagree. Do overs in school encourage poor study habits and time management skills. "Oh I wont have to worry about understanding integrals, because I can always do it over again". Or how about if you become a doctor "Oh I know I messed up on the surgery and mistaken a kidney for a blood vessel and killed the patient, but it doesn't matter I can re-do it with another patient".
@@joeyGalileoHotto she's talking about school, not teachers. Teachers are the one who encourgae kids if that's what you're saying, not the school itself. Atleast, most schools.
If you let failure dominate you thats what it becomes. Thats the truth. Learn to lose, failure is knowledge. To learn to fail is to liberate yourself from it.
@Jaegar Ultima you embrace failure and that weakness and learn from it, the weakness inside is everyones greatest foe. Fear and doubt is what holds people back, regardless of how much you have failed and have nothing to show and no reason to believe it will ever change you have to have the courage to try to achieve whatever you are trying to achieve. It brings a whole new meaning and weight to winning and life itself. You must improve with shorterm goals, the number 1 thing is your mind and body. Through experience you will gain wisdom and new insight. You will win eventually. Nobody is born to fail.
Failing from time to time and learning from your mistakes is a good thing; but being a failure is definitely NOT a good thing. I don't like how you titled this one, DNews.
I agree with you. Personally I think it's okay to fail at something once or twice but being a failure is not okay. Failing at something a couple times is fine but failing nonstop is horrible.

having spent a lifetime analysing everything I can confirm that failure is the best way to learn as you learn what to avoid. the only way to success is to record failures and analyse the factors or variables that led to the failure. set a goal, test, record variables that led to failure, test all variables, retest with favourable variables and repeat. this is how science/ computing and even evolution works. don't ever give up! just realised what you did wrong and don't repeat! wish I could have told myself this 20 years ago! xxx

Maybe that particular class is to hard or you. Maybe you can take some easier classes first. Once you mastered them, you can move on to the harder class. You would be better prepared to take and pass the class. You have trouble with Calculus 1. So you can take precalulus classes first. Depending on your abilities, you may have to take algebra classes and remedial classes. After that you can try tackling Calculus 1 again. With the right preparation, it should get easier for you. Remember it is okay to make mistakes. Good Luck. ;)
Two failures: I broke once while I had a small business. Second: I studied an unamusing postgraduate program. Two lessons after experienced them: Planning a business let you diminish risks and deal with them easier. Second: Study something that you consider as your passion. Just in my case: financial and management matters have been my passion, despite of the fact that I'm a civil engineer.
I failed many times during my highschool. At the end of my highschool, I wanted to try college but the school principal told me that my chances to pass are roughly zero. Despite of her explanation, I tried and even though I was lacking most of the basic knowledge like mathematics, physics, English,... I succeed. Now I'm proud to say that I have a bachelor degree in aviation and 4 languages in my knowledge. Please, don't let people say what you should do, do what you want to do and motivate yourself for it.
I, was known to be the smartest student in Science,Math,Computer etc. and 3 days STRAIGHT, I answered so many Science questions wrong. I was started to think that I was a failure. But I took notes every time I made a mistake. So overtime, I got even more smarter. :D
I failed to ask a girl out once. It was my first time and I was extremely nervous. So I walked up behind her taped her on the shoulders and blurted out " would u like to go see a movie with me". She turns around and I find out it was the wrong girl and the girl I wanted to ask was next to her. Bottom line I walked away with shame and didnt ask another person out for a whole year.
+Lego Ang the worst part was when I asked a girl to the movies and she said no then later that day all her friends where like I can't believe she said no to you (they where begging me for 2 weeks to ask her out)
That's ok I don't have one either and I'm 25 I'm the biggest failed. Meet a girl 3 years ago. We where friends and last year asked her to be my girlfriend she said yes but she wanted me to move to the state she lived in. We meet a few times in the 3 years we knew each other so I was ok with the idea. Packed shit up and got there. Then she tells me she never wanted to go out and just be friends. Now I'm back home staying at my moms house paying for my mistakes. Life has been great so far. That was 7 months ago.
+Erik Jeronimo She asks you to move to her house and then when you got there she said you and her shouldn't be bf and gf.Was she playing with your feelings or something?!
Not giving up is a better title than failure is a good thing.. Realistically, the education system favours people who aren't necessarily that smart but those who are hardworking.. If you consistently fail don't use this as an excuse because most of the time you are just lazy or not good enough..
Translated: "I'm personally a failure so I need to make other people feel bad to make myself feel better" Do what you think is the best course of action for yourself, as long as it is within reason. The "correct" thing for you to do is not always obvious. For example, at a young age I was told I'd need to wear a helmet and have a nurse for the rest of my life due to mental disabilities. However, after a lot of effort I'm majoring in electrical engineering at a ranked university and doing fine. Do I get special treatment? Sometimes it is offered but I always refuse. Do people look at me like I'm a freak? Nope, I was able to adapt to society. My biggest problems right now are weight and mechanical impairment (i.e. I'm not good with doing things with my hands), which you might have guessed is a far cry from what I described earlier. Always try your best with the goal of succeeding in mind, but take advantage of any failures on your part to make sure you don't repeat those failures. Granted this comment is fairly old, but hopefully my comment helps you a bit.
My failuer list is so long that even if I try to tell I will brake my self again. I failed at relationship,I failed being a social, I failed at my medical school, now i am failing to control my emotions. Now I am lost...sooooooo lost. May god save me
is it? or maybr you just don't like it. Te books are well written and the story is original. Don't act like your opinion is an irrefutable fact, it isn't.
That's similar to what Derek Muller found in his thesis. He found that if people had to think for themselves and come up with their own answer they would learn better when they were then given the correct answer compared to being told the right answer in the first place.
My father always told me to "always do the best you can deliver even if it was not enough", that was one of the key for me to be successful in life... Alway do your best, and if you didn't make it, be proud that you did your best for it. Have a good day 😋
I teach this way at my job I give the employees the end result and allow them to achieve the results as they want. Next they feel confident in their way of the task, I'll show them 2 or 3 faster and efficient ways and they are more likely to ask for advice in the future due to knowledge is being givin
I say praise the effort. There is no such thing as failure only a learning opportunity. Had to get a passing grade on a paper to pass a college course or else I would have to take it again. When I received a passing grade on my final paper I asked the teacher what criteria my paper illustrated in order to be worthy of the just barely passing grade because I felt it was worse than previous papers I bombed on. He said, "I could have given you a 50 and you would have failed if that is what you want." With astonishment I replied, "Though I appreciate your consideration however misplaced it may be, if that is the grade I deserve then I will happily accept it because that is what I earned. Providing me a grade I do not deserve will not help me but inhibit me in the future." Ultimately failed the course and had to retake it the following year for another $600 with the same teacher. Aced the course and tutored others leading them also to ace the course. Still received both my degrees just cost more money and took a little longer.
My autism. No jokes, had me drop out of school. I couldn't keep up. Despite being apparently intelligent. I don't know man. Thus I struggle at a job too. So I'm screwed anyway. And people say aspegers is a leap in evolution, you mean extinction and a crazy amount of people who can't cope with meltdowns to fallow.
Failed a graduate course with the possibility of getting kicked out of my program. It just happened and I feel indifferent. But I knew it was coming. I feel nothing right now....
The studies mentioned seem to test specific things and that is not the conclusion I would have made, but I will say this: if the person who fails is a perseverant one, then finding out they are able to do something they once thought they could not is great for self-esteem and that will likely lead them to success and plus they have tasted defeat and know how to deal. In the other hand if a person is used to always succeed, when they find a high-stress situation they may be unable to cope and fail harder than ever.
I started going to college full time when I was 15. I recently graduated from FSU at the age of 18. My goal was to graduate from college without making a B. I made a 89%(B+) in my very last class.
It isn't the failing that is good for you. Being a failure is someone who gives up easily and never achieves their goals. Just don't give up. Because once you give up, you then failed. That is not good. but if you haven't given up, you haven't failed "yet". You are still trying to solve the problem. You have to try and figure out "why" it didn't work, what went wrong, what can you do differently? And don't confuse the person who has temporarily stopped trying as "failing". Like when you are taking a test, just because you are stuck on one problem or think that one problem will take too much time, continue with the test and go back to the harder ones later. If you get stuck on one problem and never move forward with the next problem, you failed. That is not good. Failing is when you conclude that you are not going to solve the problem.
I've failed hundreds, even thousands of times at drawing. Then I try drawing the same thing a week later and, while I still fail, I do better than previously.

You don't say?
Yes.

Not A Potato
Failure isn't necessarily a bad thing because it is usually a learning experience. What's bad is when someone decides to give up and live with the failure.
My life has just been a catastrophe since late 2008. I might actually buy myself a customized cake in 2 years if things don't work out.
Thanks DNews. You made me feel better as I always kept trying for perfection on the first try, which often turned out to be stressful.
Luke: I don't believe it!
Yoda: That is why you fail.
Ironically the educational system penalizes and shames failure
failing is winning ask donald trump
Donald Trump is an idiot
+Manar Buqai You are the idiot. Trump is brilliant
+Ondraya "climate change is a hoax by the chinese"
+Arun Rajendran So people just believe everything he says?
+Ondraya " I know more about ISIS then the generals do"
"I have the best words"
"My IQ is one of the highest - and you all know it! Please don't feel so stupid or insecure; it's not your fault."
Yeah, all things a brilliant man says
I failed in high school I didn't get my diploma untill 2 years after my senior year but that was a turning point in my life and now I'm on the fast track to becoming a EMT Firefighter
Take chances, make mistakes - Ms. Frizzle
I was never more happy and relieved to see a video in my description box than this video right here.
what if i fail every math class in college twice in order to pass them
***** calculus I
Maybe that particular class is to hard or you. Good Luck. ;)
I failed at everything and learned not just from my mistake but from the mistakes of others.
I failed to realize that this video would waste minutes of my life.
I didn't. Life is a waste anyways.
Good thing about being a failure
Being able to do nothing and eventually ending yourself. Way a failure like me sees it
I failed many times during my highschool.
I must be a genius cause I'm failing half of my classes
I, was known to be the smartest student in Science,Math,Computer etc. and 3 days STRAIGHT, I answered so many Science questions wrong. I was started to think that I was a failure. But I took notes every time I made a mistake. So overtime, I got even more smarter. :D
My m8s Dad convinced his parents that a U grade means unbelievable and his parents bought him a motorbike
if i fail, i give up and never try again. nothing will ever change that
1000 failures liked this video.
Almost 21 and still can't get a girlfriend
Well, not everyone gets a girlfriend under 21 years old, there are many others similar to you,so don't be sad.
+Lego Ang the worst part was when I asked a girl to the movies and she said no then later that day all her friends where like I can't believe she said no to you (they where begging me for 2 weeks to ask her out)
+justin rivera Damn, that rejection must have hurt your feelings, but just get over it,maybe in the future you'll find a girl that's suitable for you.
Failed at college, anyone else?
Well, I learned that I should go to college only if am 100% certain, and not because I was told.
Translated: "I'm personally a failure so I need to make other people feel bad to make myself feel better"
Do what you think is the best course of action for yourself, as long as it is within reason.
Adrian Atleast you now have a decent job and went through hell to get there. Now you can do whatever the hell you want.
Now, I will show this to my parents so they don't get pissed when I show them my progress report!
I will fail at getting any likes on this comment.
megagene you failed to fail
You failed to NOT get any likes, which makes you a REAL failure!
My failuer list is so long that even if I try to tell I will brake my self again. I failed at relationship,I failed being a social, I failed at my medical school, now i am failing to control my emotions. Now I am lost...sooooooo lost. May god save me
Saying that there'd be no Harry Potter as evidence that failure is a good thing is not terribly convincing. Hsrry Potter is pretty bad.
Its also "borrowed" from a movie called Troll.
is it? or maybr you just don't like it. Te books are well written and the story is original. Don't act like your opinion is an irrefutable fact, it isn't.
that's why its one of the best selling books
That's similar to what Derek Muller found in his thesis. He found that if people had to think for themselves and come up with their own answer they would learn better when they were then given the correct answer compared to being told the right answer in the first place.
My father always told me to "always do the best you can deliver even if it was not enough", that was one of the key for me to be successful in life... Alway do your best, and if you didn't make it, be proud that you did your best for it.
Have a good day 😋
I teach this way at my job
I give the employees the end result and allow them to achieve the results as they want.
He said, "I could have given you a 50 and you would have failed if that is what you want."
With astonishment I replied, "Though I appreciate your consideration however misplaced it may be, if that is the grade I deserve then I will happily accept it because that is what I earned. Providing me a grade I do not deserve will not help me but inhibit me in the future."
Ultimately failed the course and had to retake it the following year for another $600 with the same teacher. Aced the course and tutored others leading them also to ace the course. Still received both my degrees just cost more money and took a little longer.
I failed in Maths today and now am satisfied by watching the vid😂😂🤣
i got flattered when he called me failure
I already knew that
I failed pharmacology in nursing school but I was just telling a friend it helped me so much
So not getting everything easily makes you more introspective. Makes sense
YOU WIN OR YOU LEARN. THERE IS NO LOSE.
I actually failed 2 times in business. I am in the state of almost depression. I don't know what to do but I am starting another business.
Failed a graduate course with the possibility of getting kicked out of my program. It just happened and I feel indifferent. But I knew it was coming. I feel nothing right now....
the part where he said letting student fail before teaching them how is something ive said for as long as i can remember.. i agree 100%
"Accept and embrace failure. It is what I am."
I started going to college full time when I was 15. I recently graduated from FSU at the age of 18. My goal was to graduate from college without making a B. I made a 89%(B+) in my very last class.
This was a good pick me up. Thanks DNews :)
1:30 wow. I needed that. thanks. any stories about ppl failing and being successful?
The failure that sucks, is that where you have other people devastated by it like psychotic parents.
do not tell me about successful people who were failures , they already had something to work on , we are lost and undirected
I've failed hundreds, even thousands of times at drawing. Then I try drawing the same thing a week later and, while I still fail, I do better than previously.
