Martinez played it smart by playing Ronaldo every minute of every game, now no one can say Ronaldo didn’t get a chance to prove himself. It’s over now for sure and Martinez can move forward with younger players.

As Milanisti it's an absolute disgrace how they sacrificed Leaos game and space to protect a Sad CR7, it was exactly like a charity match and they should be ashamed of themselves, especially Martinez who's always been a below average manager outside what a Wigan season and Everton he's a terrible manager and should never be in charge of talent like the Portuguese National Team.

In the match against France Cristiano didn't even run. It was like Portugal was playing without a man. Pepe on the other hand played well despite his age. Also Ronaldo never letting others take free kicks while having one of the worst free kick records in recent history is baffling

I wouldn't put all the blame on CR7...I watch a few highlights of their games and there were situations where Cristiano was in a better position to receive a pass but his team mate chose the worst possible option
As seen with Slovenia, Roberto Martinez ran the legs off aging veterans Pepe and Ronaldo. The defensive give-away by 41 yr old Pepe after the 39 yr old Ronaldo pk miss showed fatigued legs. Martinez keeps his job by getting to the Euro 2024 quarters while simultaneously giving every opportunity to aging veterans to make a difference where they couldn't complain afterwards.

Ronaldo is a selfish player! He puts himself ahead of the team!
The younger Ronaldo was no questions the best. He used to play more on the flank and cover so much distance with the ball. Pushing the attack, with the ball. Now, older Ronaldo is a central striker. And he doesn't run so much. During the attack, except during link play, he walks forward, without the ball. Always in the line of defenders. He attracks the defence around him. Which in theory is a good thing, but it's also a bad idea. Because he is concentrating the defence in the box, now it's harder to other players to attack or shoot because there's a bunch of defenders in the box. I really do think that Ronaldo should have reinvented his game with age to play more of a central midfielder, a play maker, than a stricker. But he wanted to break scoring records instead. The way Ronaldo plays today, it causes a huge problem for coaches. He is actually cancelling the attack. I'm not saying there is not a style of play that can make use of Ronaldo as a stricker. Just that, I honestly do think it is too often a problem for the team. I think Portugal should play Ronaldo for half time, get a feel of the defence, then substitute Ronaldo for a younger stricker with a different attack strategy.

Hove Many times did I see Ronaldo frustrated with them that he even came back to get the ball get it up & then once again back pass to there end. The one that played bad wasn't Ronaldo but a team that was weak in the knees for getting that ball into that box! It was Frustrating to watch Portugal wasn't that fearful during the qualification rounds. Ronaldo did his Job as a Striker, he took their defensive players with him creating space & waiting the team to get him the ball. His teammate did barely made use of any of those opportunities. So even it they had anyone else on the pitch other than Ronaldo, I personally think it would have been worst, because I think another player wouldn't have the experience & the sense of play as Ronaldo does on the pitch!

CR7 got no serrvice. He is not 29, but 39. He can thrive only if you put enough balls into the box. Portugal created 4 half chances in 90 mins. Played the entire match passing to the side and back. Not a single cross to the head in the box. If you want CR7 to help, you have to supply him with passes. He is not a midfielder to track back, take passes in the middle of the field and run past defenders. But he is anyday a better bet than Jota, Leao, Bruno or anybody in that Portugal team. Only Vitinha and Pepe stood out in the entire tournament.
well you see I have been a Ronaldo suporter all his carreer but not this game, we have to objective and he did not helped in any way possible the team, Portugal was clearlly playing with 10 man, Ronaldo is not running to stretch the defenses, they were very confortable with him there, and he is not creating the spaces for other behind him to have more creativity, and he is ocuppying sapces that in the end block others, when he had the ball he never created any moment like when he was younger we would create or a younger guy there could try to do, but when u are there so no possibility from a younger guy could be seen, I blame the manager I can see that we could have started but no more than 65 minutes after that out, or play the last 30 minutes coming from the bench with more fresh legs maybe we could have stretched more the defenders...but well they are out, I hope now it was the last game for the national team, he should know there is a time to end, we can continue his carreer but where he his now on arabia or similar place one more year, the decline now is going fast has it was very clear to see in top level competitive fottbal is over for him, facts dont lie. my opinion just

He didn't score, true, but:
- he could easily have scored against Turkey but chose to pass the ball to Fernandes
- he suffered two penalty fouls against Georgia which were, bizarrely, ignored by the ref and VAR
- he suffered a clear penalty foul by Maignan which was once again ignored by VAR
I think he should retire not because he is finished as the media narrative is trying to push into people's minds, but because there is clearly an agenda somewhere to force him into retirement and as long as he is in the team, those decisions will always disfavour them

All this Ronaldo criticism is silly more than anything else. Ronaldo carried Portugal for 15+ years, what's it for the team to carry him in return for 5 or 6 years. We learned something from Portugal this tournament against France. The current and future star (R.Laeo) didn't want to compete at the international level against people he plays with at the club level.

Ronaldo didn’t perform at his best but he got an assist. If you saw the games you might have noticed Ronaldo was constantly making forward runs and not receiving a pass. The passes that he was on the receiving end of were usually in tight spaces. He was constantly ignored when he was in good positions. Honestly that Portugal team is so bad they will disappear once Ronaldo retires. He missed a few good chances no doubt but he’s definitely still their best player, some of the others might be a bit faster at this point because he’s 39 but he’s still the most talented player on the team.
