There is something truly endearing and magnificent about British actresses, Judi Dench, Helen Mirren, Vanessa Redgrave, Charlotte Rampling, Maggie Smith to name a few. Maybe it's that aristocracy that the British are so well known for, I don't know but it's mysterious and I love them all, they sure don't make them like that anymore.
Never seen such a well connected group of actors produce work so inspiring and transporting to a distant time. The passion , the scene and costume design was so real and so Baroque. The emphasis on defining the 1800s in this movie was really effective from my view and I believe this movie is perhaps the best of the 2010s decade . It really screamed 1700/1800 . Ali and judi...your acting is world class.
Just saw this masterpiece on Netflix. Such pure and honest emotions. Made me go through all sorts of emotions..cried, laughed.. that's what I think a good movie does to you.
MOST MISUNDERSTOOD and unfairly criticised film of the year. Those people who are shouting out 'propaganda' should watch it and make their own minds up because it is anything but pro-Empire propaganda.
i finally could see this movie today (2 years after the released), and while watching the interview, i can't stop crying ah ah, i think i'm still in the movie's emotion, but as I watch them talk, it's like Ali does have a real respect and kindness toward Judi and as Judi have lot of sympathy for him too just like the movie, that's stunning.
Once late night when I was channel surfing and this movie came up and I started it just to see how Ali Fazal acted in an English film. It was way past midnight but I was so hooked up by the movie that had to finish. A lovely movie. A totally unexpected story line.
I watched this movie too and it is one of his best performed movie and he was not many movies old, But as they say focus on quality and not on quantity. Yet what the sad part of Bollywood has always underestimated the true talents and knowledge, glad that some people are recognizing the good scripts now a days, for a change while the rest is trying to recreate the same old techniques, hitting people on their nostalgias to earn easy and quick money
I cant wait to see another one of my favorite actress movie. Judi dench is phenomenal.... I dont go to the movies but can't wait to see it on dvd so i will have to go to the movie house. Hope it is here in florida USA
Dame Judi Dench seems so wonderful personally and has a sense of humor (unlike one of her contemporaries that seems to Truly Dislike the public and whatever she works on as a project) and whatever she does film wise is So Great. Mr. Fazal is handsome and I look forward to seeing this complete film. Don't like the story line based on history that the A-hole British mistreated him. Hardly a surprise since they treat EVERYONE with Equal Contempt!
