I can't believe Golbat with Speed Boost walled you guys for _over 30 minutes_ at Roxanne and then proceeded to haunt you again with a vengeance at Juan. This was such a joy to watch live.
I just realized this when tuning into the BDSP run earlier but the display for runners' (and couch commentators' in other runs) names light up when they talk! With masks on stream this is a very awesome detail that's super appreciated, speaking as someone who's bad with names so when there are multiple runners/commentators that I'm unfamiliar with, I always have a hard time which voice belongs to which personnel. Great job to whoever coined the idea and everyone who made it a reality!
I didn't notice that, I wish I cheked the comments before watching the video I spent the first hour not knowing whether Adef of Keizaron was talking (I've seen enough Shen vs Chris runs to be able to distinguish those voices lmao)
When I hear the soundtrack of this game I have flashbacks of playing this under the covers with a flashlight in my mouth to see the screen. I loved ruby, and my Grandpa gifted me the game for my birthday. He passed from cancer not too long after I beat the game, so playing Emerald was my first 'speedrun' aka trying to beat the entire game in one night when I have school in the morning. it really warms my heart seeing runs like these raising money for various causes as well as beong a lovely welcoming community of people. Thank you all so much!!
The Chesto Berry was such a great moment. I don't tend to laugh loudly very often, but I honestly sat there fpr like 5 seconds just laughing. It was amazing
Just wanted to pile on this comment, I had to pause the VOD to clean up my sandwich mess I made from taking an unfortunate bite when the Chesto Berry popped and then it outsped. I was laughing that hard.
As good as classic speedrunning is, I do like how the community is moving towards randomizers and races, it's a nice change of pace, and group runs like what this group has been doing has been great. I hope we get to see more content like this in the future in GDQ.
One of my favourite GDQ runs in ages, all the runners meshed together so well, even watching felt like hanging out with a group of friends you've known for years.
Honestly the most entertaining run I have seen from gdq. This group had hilarious interactions and the randomizer was ridiculous. Please do this again. I am sure this is the best excuse for these guys to be in the same room doing a run together. Top notch god tier entertainment.
This run has everything - Chaos, Golbat Trolling, Great commentary, Fighting over the inputs, The race to meet the donation goal - a bit under four hours of a certified Wild Ride.
This has to be at least top10 most entertaining runs in gdq history ... yes we like speed, but we do like a good trolling laugh every now and then, thank you four and the entire gdq team in the background for this gem!
It's so nice to see these 4 together. Always nice to see Speedrunners having fun playing their game and not just doing a "showcase". You can clearly see the passion here. Thanks GDQ for hosting!
Seeing this run live was amazing, especially near the end of the elite four. Whole lot of tension and laughs all in three hours. This and the Minecraft run were my highlights so far
I've watched this about a dozen times, and I've yet to get tired of it. Those guys have such great chemistry, and the pranking is such fun. :3 That Golbat. That darn Golbat!! Edit: As a sidenote, this run inspired me to dig out a cart of Emerald I bought some years ago, and actually play it. Only gen I haven't finished yet.
I've watched this VOD like 10 times since it went up. Nothing better than a big group with great working chemistry and extensive knowledge of the mechanics. I love tight runs with impressive tech, too, but I would watch a whole event of funny, high-RNG categories with couch dynamics like this. (Also, "Doctor. Doctor."" Doctor." "Doctor." maybe the hardest I've ever laughed at a GDQ video.)
What an incredible run! All the bad luck, 4 people playing together, twitch chat and the audience going wild, and wild commentary between the players and the commentator. Super fun and I'd love to see more next year!
The "four brothers stuck in the back of their mom's van vying for the controller" energy is REAL Also Adef's intro might be the best run intro I've ever heard
This is the kind of run GDQs need more of, just runs where it's a weird kinda unscripted playthru of something with multiple players who have good chemistry, super fun to watch
I love how wholesome 1:18:08 is, and it's very true, Shen's knowledge of the game and his ability to work through all the possibilities in real time is truly phenomenal.
I'm confused, you guys skipped Brawly, when are they gonna fight him? Edit: They just got the Fly TM so now I know why they skipped Brawly. Edit2: You guys did'nt have BEEEEEES evolve into a Lombre before.... But it was both a Ludicolo and a Lotad! In case anyone wants to know the evolutions in the vid... I got bored and was curious as to what the great BEEEEEES evolved into over time. In terms of perfect coverage, as someone that has played mostly gen 6 through 8, I believe ghost + fighting is one of, if not the only type that still almost gets there as a result of the introduction of fairy. If I'm not mistaken Hisuan Zirua/Zoroark are the only ones that it doesn't cover (no effect) due to their unique normal/ghost typing. Elec/Ice (good old BoltBeam) is still pretty effective to this day, covering all but 4.5 families (the 0.5 being two Rotom forms). Dragon/fire is still quite good covering all but 6 families. Going over every type combo for this post, the notable ones are (this calculator seems to not include abilities unless they're mandatory, so not perfect results - so Shedinja always comes back correctly, but Bronzong doesn't register levitate): Normal/Ghost: covers all but 3 families/6 pokes + 1 mega Fire/Dragon: covers all but 6 families/6 pokes + 2 megas Elec/Ice: covers all but 5 families/6 pokes + 2 Rotom forms Ice/Ground: covers all but 5 families/8 pokes Fighting/Ghost: covers all but 1 family/2 pokes Ground/Rock: covers all but 7 families/8 pokes Flying/Ghost: covers all but 4 families/7 pokes + 1 mega Ghost/Dragon: covers all but 4 families/10 pokes + 1 mega Ghost/Fairy: covers all but 2 families/4 pokes Dark/Fairy: covers all but 7 families/9 pokes + 1 mega All the two move combos that, abilities not withstanding, are normal or better against all but 10 or less pokes. Ghost/Fairy was one that I wasn't aware of going into this; the two families it's NVE against are the Pyroar line and Grafaiai lines, not exactly all-stars. Fighting/ghost has the best coverage as of gen 9 as it's only not-effective against Hisuan Zoroark (and Zorua), but that does seem like a better poke than Pyroar and Grafaiai. Ghost+Fairy would also be quite good as many pokes can learn Shadow Ball and Dazzling Gleam via TM. Obv for competitive battling things are more important than perfect coverage, but for a casual playthrough Mimikyu would offer STAB to Play Rough + Shadow Claw, as well as Swords Dance for item-free setup. Marshadow is the only ghost/fighting type - and I'd hardly call it a casual run poke - but going outside double-STAB, I find it hard to get away from Aura Sphere + Shadow Ball + Nasty Plot/Calm Mind Lucario, who has had this excellent coverage for generations. Other notable pokes that would fall inside these categories with dual stab: Rotom-Frost (elec/ice), Mamoswine (ice/ground), rock/ground (Golem/Rhyperior) and ghost/flying (Drifloon/Oricorio). There's also Giratina-Origin (ghost/dragon); not exactly a casual poke but one of the few ubers like Marshadow that could use a setup/all-out attack set with near-perfect coverage (of course, in high levels of competition such a straightforward strategy often won't be enough, but in more casual competition it could snag some wins). Anyway, this post has been brought to you by a massive case of hyper-fixation in conjunction with a solid love of ghost+fighting. :P
Runner introduction starts at 0:31
Run starts at 3:04
Kungfufruitcup interviews Illumina at 3:34:17

Hope you all enjoyed our ultra-cursed speedrun!
Roxanne% in 35:05!!
Imagine your first personal experience of evolution loops coming here :P
@@Zsaver3 the Chris Touch (tm)
I enjoyed the run, but I EXTRA enjoyed that speech at the start. Damn applause for that epicness.
It was really fun to watch, only thing I didn't like was how OP spore was lol
“My parents are watching, they’re gonna think my movement is bad” is a line that’s stuck with me since the vod first dropped
I can't believe Golbat with Speed Boost walled you guys for _over 30 minutes_ at Roxanne and then proceeded to haunt you again with a vengeance at Juan. This was such a joy to watch live.
Their banter makes me feel like I'm watching the world's most chaotic roadrip through Hoenn
They have one brain cell and it never belongs to the person running.
these guys are like, my favorite.
That's exactly what you were watching xD
It's like the prequel to "Hangover" ^^
Forreal though! Fantastic commentary and conversations!
I love it as well! I'm familiar with 360Chrism's voice but the others I wasn't sure, but the highlights really helped!
I also love the pronoun indicators. The GDQ UI as a whole is just perfect.
I like how it has their pronouns, it's super useful
I didn't notice that, I wish I cheked the comments before watching the video I spent the first hour not knowing whether Adef of Keizaron was talking (I've seen enough Shen vs Chris runs to be able to distinguish those voices lmao)
Plus I love how it shows which runner is controlling the game above the timer. For a run like this with 4 players it’s super helpful!
The screams at 50:10 when Beedrill used guillotine had me in stitches 🤣
When I hear the soundtrack of this game I have flashbacks of playing this under the covers with a flashlight in my mouth to see the screen. I loved ruby, and my Grandpa gifted me the game for my birthday. Thank you all so much!!
I love how the most replayed moment in this vod isn't the golbat trolling
It's the persian evolving into the shuckle
This is what its about, friends having fun with the chaotic conditions and messing with each other. Outstanding
Keiz got trolled SO bad by that Golbat. Each layer to it was just incredible. When the Chesto Berry came out I almost lost it.
The Chesto Berry was such a great moment. I don't tend to laugh loudly very often, but I honestly sat there fpr like 5 seconds just laughing. It was amazing
Chesto Berry is held because its the kingdra slot which normally has a Chesto a Berry to go with its rest
Just wanted to pile on this comment, I had to pause the VOD to clean up my sandwich mess I made from taking an unfortunate bite when the Chesto Berry popped and then it outsped. I was laughing that hard.
@@Ithambar When was the Chesto Berry?
dude literally had to invalidate the run to get out of it lol
This was a lot of fun and just about as chaotic as I expected! Thanks for watching everyone :)
Thanks for doing it
The way the monitors are it looks like chrism is greenscreened in
As good as classic speedrunning is, I do like how the community is moving towards randomizers and races, it's a nice change of pace, and group runs like what this group has been doing has been great. I hope we get to see more content like this in the future in GDQ.
The race to meet the incentive before beating the Elite Four was funny as heck, this hectic run was amazing
One of my favourite GDQ runs in ages, all the runners meshed together so well, even watching felt like hanging out with a group of friends you've known for years.
These guys have so much sibling energy that it hurts
Watching them be constantly foiled by Golbats is hilarious. Great run.
Every time keiz is in a run I know it’ll be a fantastic hot mess. Great run
I found this comment as Keiz hits the double battle and spinner to lose their nidoqueen before flannery. Pretty correct.
BEEEEzaron, lord of chaos
That introduction from ADEF was great! We need more entropy in the world of Pokémon!
I love how when they were roadblocked at Roxanne they'd just evolve their crappy Pokemon and be like "Aight this is not my problem now"
These types of runs are my favourite; just some people having fun with each other and laughing at the game as much as each other.
This run was absolutely awesome! So fun to watch and incredible group synergy, would love to see another run like this someday!!
What a disaster.
It was glorious, and always great to watch 😅
Having fun is what matters
This has to be at least top10 most entertaining runs in gdq history ... yes we like speed, but we do like a good trolling laugh every now and then, thank you four and the entire gdq team in the background for this gem!
With the other 9 spots filled by *the* jak & daxter run, Siglemic's first appearance, and Sinister1's blindfolded punchout.
This is such an amazing show of skill, talent and utter trolling capabilities. Love these four in combination.
Very excited to see this Run. I love Pokémon runs and the community that does them on GDQ is always so fun.
Easily one of the best runs I’ve seen in GDQ history. So much chaos and charisma from the runners.
It’s so good to see live events again after so long.
This was an amazing run! Now I want to see a full Crowd Control run next AGDQ. That would be so much chaotic fun!
My expectations for this run were very high... and I was not disappointed. Not at all. Another classic run for the archives. Thanks, guys! 😃
I've watched this about a dozen times, and I've yet to get tired of it. Those guys have such great chemistry, and the pranking is such fun. :3 That Golbat. That darn Golbat!!

This is one of the best AGDQ runs I've seen in awhile. Just guys having fun, it's so great

Super fun and I'd love to see more next year!
So many bike bonks into the scenery! Great run really fun runners
Runs like these make me happy. All of couch is just having fun and laughs
I love the chemistry these guys have! You can tell they really love the game and are really just here to have fun playing it!
Thank you for uploading the videos so quickly!
Shen, Chrism and Keiz started my love for pokemon speed runs. They just make it so entertaining.
Talk about an all star cast for this! Can’t wait to watch it!
@38:57 I thought I accidentally hit 2x speed when Keiz was talking. Dude dropped words like a Rap God for a couple seconds there
I'm absolutely loving this run, so glad the VOD is already up! The Roxanne grind is 💯 content 😂
Love these random runs, always fun to watch and was an amazing group of runners as well!!
Very wholesome run, I felt i was watching a bunch of buddies just having a great time
I love all the improvisational strategizing in stuff like this, awesome run!
Incredible run! This was so fun to watch. Can't believe I missed this for a year and half.
Adef with the legendary intro.
The "four brothers stuck in the back of their mom's van vying for the controller" energy is REAL
Also Adef's intro might be the best run intro I've ever heard
I'm not a big pokemon guy but I played Emerald as a kid. It was a fun watch and I have to admit that this is one of my favorite GDQ runs ever
Barely a minute in and I'm already loving this
Man I was not expecting to have such a vicious antagonist in this run. And I certainly wasn't expecting it to be a Golbat
These guys are so great together. Wish I could've been there in person! Awesome job!
This is the kind of run GDQs need more of, just runs where it's a weird kinda unscripted playthru of something with multiple players who have good chemistry, super fun to watch
0:58 he got the laws of thermodynamics wrong, he’s describing the second law, not the third law
absolutely my favorite run of GDQ. this was so fun to watch. I hope they do this again in the future!
Excellent to see gdq doing what it does best absolutely crushing games for an epic cause and frame 2 definitely the best
Yes! My favorite run of the marathon so far!
The energy between these four is immaculate. What an entertaining run!
I love these guys, they make speedrunning really entertaining
this feels like siblings on a roadtrip and im here for it
I love how wholesome 1:18:08 is, and it's very true, Shen's knowledge of the game and his ability to work through all the possibilities in real time is truly phenomenal.
the amount of run-killing golbats is hilarious

Frenzy plant Crawdaunt is new meta
Pokemon Emerald randomizer, in which the chaos squad try and figure out how to move left with four controllers and a swarm of BEEEEEEEES.
I don't fear any pokemon....
but that Golbat...
that scares me.
This run is so chaotic. I love it.
Literally cannot get enough of adef. That intro was glorious.
Pokémon GDQ runs involving Keizaron, weather on the couch or actually playing, will always be my favorite type of chaos.
i don't ever want to have to drive a car with shenanagans in the back seat lmao
Underrated comment 😂
What a run, amazing! Hope u guys will come again 😍😍
"We're going to grab some EXP now."
Game: No, you're not.
This is my favorite run hands down. I'm only 28 mins into the run and I'm laughing my ass off 😂😂
This is a very entertaining run
34:46 the 3 reactions when it was a Lotad was so good, i cant stop laughing
Golbat was such a menace, oh my god
Why does like everything have sky uppercut?
this was awesome. love how entertaining these 4 are. so much chaotic fun.
The first 35 minutes is pure randomizer gold
adef didn't have to go that hard on the introduction but I'm glad he did
also KEIZ AND SHEN (and Chrism!) this is going to be a laughing minefield
I can't believe you guys actually stalled on Roxanne long enough to perfectly time the end at pi. That's some +6 Future Sight from the runners.
Freaking hysterical group and run. And all for charity awesome.
"is this spinner still broken?"
_immediately hits it_
"Yes"
Peak comedy
This run is pure chaos and I love it
id like to imagine this starter to just be one really fucked up ditto
I choose to believe Chrism only did this run to mess with Shen live. 🤣
This was hilarious. Thanks for playing!
1:26:08 It feels good to get a shoutout like that
Legendary run with legendary runners!
Only 20ish minutes in and the aggressive levels of chaotic, jovial energy is sublime
