    great stuff, tried it, the sweet an chili sauce as a substitute for sugar made it twice as good as what i usually make, also its more chill, no need to rush on high heat tossing the whole freaking dish around ... hats off to you

    I was really excited to try this. I’m not sure if I got the measurements wrong, but the sauce ended up being way more than the vegetables and the chicken. The seasoning and everything was great, except the measurements for the slurry.

    making this tonight, quick question: Do I have to add corn starch, bell pepper and the Chinese or rice wine?

    • @TCakes
      @TCakes 3 года назад +1

      You could skip the bell pepper and possibly the Chinese cooking wine, but don't skip the corn starch as it thickens the sauce and allows it to adhere to the chicken better.

    This is my new go-to stiry fry recipe. SO GOOD! The only thing I really changed is added some sliced mushrooms and a handful of peanuts on top. I used Saki for the cooking wine. I didn't have sweet chili paste, so I used Sambal chili paste and a tablespoon of agave syrup, which provides the sweet heat. Your sauce is AMAZING! You def nailed the dry rub for the chicken - it turned out flavorful, well seasoned, and tender.

    Made this for Sunday dinner for family of 5 as wanted something different. Nice and easy to follow just doubled the ingredients. Even the picky eater enjoyed it. Added water to the slurry/gravy as found it a little too thick and the flavour remained intact. Thank you for your inspiration and you now have a subscriber for ever ♥️

    Made this on the weekend and I had to put the chicken out of reach, otherwise I might have eaten it all before the sauce was even done. :P
    Tips/comments:
    - Spread out the chicken in the wok, then it'll get all crispy and incredibly yummy - you don't even need the sauce!
    - I only had 1 bell pepper, so I added a bunch of carrots and also omitted the chilis.
    - I used 1kg chicken (to have left-overs) but only used 2 tsp pepper and 1 tsp table salt in total, which was more than enough.
    - I only double the ingredients for the sauce (so 3x chicken, 2x sauce) but used only 1/3 cup sweet chili sauce. The 1/3 cup ketchup (in total) I replaced with 1/3 cup of tomate paste and added about 2 Tbsp water to get the same consistency - it was still sweet enough because of the dark soy sauce and sweet chili sauce.

  • @Simbad961
    @Simbad961 3 года назад +45

    Great recipe Sisi. I'd just like to point out one thing: If your pan is non stick, don't fry it on high heat. Most non stick pans are like that because of the chemical coating that dissolves on high heat. However, this wok looks like it's made of cast iron, which CAN be non stick if it's seasoned well (those who don't know what that means, google it). Secondly, wok should always be used on high heat. And frying chicken should always be done on high heat. This way, the outer layer of chicken will become crisp and fried while retaining the juiciness on the inside. The chicken will be very soft. To avoid overcooking chicken, that's where the shape of the wok comes in - by stir frying... or stiring with a spoon or spatula in the case of an electric stove, the high heat fries the chicken, then with every stir that piece is moved to the side where the heat is not too high (because of the shape of the wok and the curvature, the wok is not completely in contact with the stove), where it continues to cook, but not overcook. Then it goes back to the middle again and repeat. I know that this comment may be obsolete, but many people who cook first time with wok might not know why you're doing what you're doing.

    a real good method cook the chicken on high with oil put adequate salt. when its about half cooked put some butter and squirt a whole lemon. put honey all over it. when its 70 percent add onions. 5 minutes later add a lot of garlic. 5 minutes later add bell pepper. 5 minutes later add panda express teriyaki chicken sauce that they sell at the grocery stores and then grind a bunch of black pepper and add hot pepper flakes. Put other spices. Italian seasoning, parsley flakes, cilantro, whatever you prefer. Stir till done. put on jasmine rice.

      @@edgar5814 ...I generally just don't use the things I don't have, and hope for the best.....
      I would probably suggest a small amount of fish sauce in place of oyster sauce if you have it...
      But otherwise I would probably just skip it and hope😅

    Made this today for Sunday Dinner. I put pineapples in it also. Didn't have any sesame oil, but it still came out delicious! 😍
