Nice video and I'm glad that you addressed the chair being subpar. I'm still on the lookout for good ones and can cross that off the list. Nice to see what you can do with a smaller studio.

@@OriginPainting No problem, happy to help :) It is important to know that usually office chairs feels a bit awkward/uncomfortable at first. It's mainly due to the fact they force you to sit "properly" and not slouching like you would in a gaming chair. It also take a bit of trial and error to get the settings dialed in perfectly. That codex at the end was the first piece of Warhammer literature I owned and what started my Warhammer hobby. I remember back when I was little in Poland (4th grade), my dad told me it was very expensive for a book, but a few days later he went out and got it for me. I spend so much time flipping through those pages and fell in love with the hobby forever. Great video Guy! Thanks for sharing!

This was a fascinating insight into the lift of Midwinter Minis, I've had a personal dabble at making some of my own RUclips videos and this is just inspiring thanks for the tour !
Hey Guy, I don''t play Warhammer. I did when I was younger, but nowadays its the occasional D&D mini. But I come to your channel because Il like you. As much as I like Miniac etc, so many of the mini painting channels feel like big spender pro masterclasses, which is rarely what I'm after. Your content is basically just a nice guy who's still very much 'on the journey', sharing his hobby in a well presented and chilled out manner. Good luck to you mate.
Love the channel Guy. Your voice always seems like its just a few seconds away from saying something funny :) And your other half is hilarious, always strikes me as a mix of slightly disapproving yet supportive :)
This last month i have been rejigging my painting desk setup to make it easier to film and aiming to stream soon :) These videos are always super useful for newcomers, Miniac's setup videos made it easier for me to know where to even begin - filming miniature painting is a unique challenge that not alot of people talk about, so thank you for sharing yours :) I recently also just purchased some SmallRig gear (those same clamps) and was blown away with the quality - I'm trying to rig up my monitor atand with them to have all my boom arms come from above, if i can finally figure it all out then I'll have to poat a setup vid too :)
The rant about the chair is supper relatable, (I'm 6'4 2--lbs) I also bought a fancy gaming chair a few years ago, and it SUCKS! A complete waste of money. The chair I had before was one of those bungi jumping cable chairs and it was far far supperior. Once my current chair gives out I'm going back to the bungi cable chairs. If you're looking for a comfortable chair I highly recommend them Guy. As always I love your videos, can't wait to see the next one. Also Congratulations!
Really useful video, I recommend office task chairs from big manufacturers like Herman Miller and Steelcase. I (at 6ft 2) have a 2nd hand Knoll, Generation that definitely helps me forget my bad back!
Hmm, I shall have to look at those brands see if I can find one near me to try.. But I've never found an office chair that suits me - extra few inches of vertical on me to you, but mostly its the lack of width that gets me. Being wider across the shoulders and hips than most folks by alot, just in the skeleton, got another friend about the same height, but he's less Dwarven in HxW ratio (he's just over one of my arms narrower) so sitting in the same car seat you'd think there was a vast difference in our height because I am too wide to actually sink into the shaped cushion..) Think your suggestions will suit still? (I am in the process of building a custom chair to suit, but having more than one chair that is comfortable would be very nice)
I always enjoy these BTS videos, also a creative process video is something I'd love to see. As someone with ZERO film/audio experiance I find it all extremely helpful. Thanks for showing us your workspace!
24:00 Thanks for saying this. It's something I've tried to impress on some friends, especially younger ones, who are trying to get into the industry. And that is you have to treat it like, not just a full time job but a new small business. And that includes all that time with marketing (community engagement), business correspondence, and all that boring behind the scenes stuff. But on the plus side..... most people I know who have gone into the arts (ie digital commissions, youtube etc) and treated it as such, well they have all been more likely to succeed that the average small business start up I'll put it that way.
Hey Guy on the chair front I'd recommend chairs where the back height can be adjusted. You can then tailor between lower back support verse neck support... not ideal but might be better.
I'm hoping to start building a youtube channel after my previous business went kaputt in the past year and so this has been incredibly helpful to see what a talented up and comer is using to make the magic happen :)
I'm pretty excited for the Start collecting Tyranids content! Ive recently got back into WH40K and Nids have always been my army, alongside Genestealer Cults. Can wait to see your take on one of the Hive Fleets, although if Hive Fleet Fabulous make a return I wont be disappointed either!

Love the channel Guy. Your voice always seems like its just a few seconds away from saying something funny :) And your other half is hilarious, always strikes me as a mix of slightly disapproving yet supportive :)
This last month i have been rejigging my painting desk setup to make it easier to film and aiming to stream soon :)
These videos are always super useful for newcomers, Miniac's setup videos made it easier for me to know where to even begin - filming miniature painting is a unique challenge that not alot of people talk about, so thank you for sharing yours :)
I recently also just purchased some SmallRig gear (those same clamps) and was blown away with the quality - I'm trying to rig up my monitor atand with them to have all my boom arms come from above, if i can finally figure it all out then I'll have to poat a setup vid too :)
Nice warm video Guy! You have a wonderful path ahead, good luck!
Vetiver and patchouli, a man of impeccable taste!
I’m probably late! Congratulations baby’s :)
That's like the hobby den of my dreams.
DREAM BIGGER, haha
Thanks for the tip Tony!
Loved the drinking wine live painting
My natural state, haha
@@MidwinterMinis the banter between you and your fiancée was impeccable

YEAAAASS BOOOIIII
I always enjoy these BTS videos, also a creative process video is something I'd love to see. As someone with ZERO film/audio experiance I find it all extremely helpful. Thanks for showing us your workspace!
Glad you found it useful! I might do something on the creative process at some point in the future :)
THUNDER TUBE
Absolutely loved that 😂
Amazing to see what can happen if you just keep making videos on the internet! Love it
Hey Guy on the chair front I'd recommend chairs where the back height can be adjusted. You can then tailor between lower back support verse neck support... not ideal but might be better.
Thanks for the tip!
im glad im not the only one who uses a shoe holder for my rattle cans
I'm hoping to start building a youtube channel after my previous business went kaputt in the past year and so this has been incredibly helpful to see what a talented up and comer is using to make the magic happen :)
Happy birthday Midwinter Minis :)
Hey guy, i like your videos a lot. They are inspiring and entertaining. Thanks for your work and the upgrade that you bring to our community.
I am glad for you and penny's success. :-)
Thanks Patrick!
Me too! Can't wait :)
Fantastic stuff. Thanks Guy.
The most important takeaway for me is the breakdown of how you spend the time.
I’m sure people think it takes as long as the time it takes to record.
Congratulations to the twins!
By Russ and the Allfather, I can't wait for the next episode! Fenris Hjolda!
Awesome. I like your vids and your voice. Looking forward for the start collection wars.
