You can tell which NES games were launch titles, just by looking at the art on the cartridges themselves. They had the cool little pixel art, the name of the game below it in standard text, and then below that, the Nintendo logo with the words “Entertainment System” to the right of that. All against a black background. I find that kinda cool because it differs from later games, which had non-pixelated art, and it makes them easier to identify them as launch titles.
As a long time part of the retro community (had a previous channel before this) I really appreciate that you still are doing this stuff man. Not only does it have that "classic" RUclips feel but still kicks ass! Keep it up bro! The people enjoy 🔥
Eh, SFDebris is still my favorite. But Chris has really been kicking ass, and I fully approve of finally owing up to the accusations and just still doing this show. That's really what made me start folloiwng Irate Gamer again, just being with " _Alright, I was inspired by AVGN._ ", that shows maturity. And then, good reviews after good reviews. Mostly! So yeah, Chris is certainly on a roll and the roll was good!
I think his newer stuff has shown a level of maturation in editing and he has shown some original ideas that are not just rehashes of the AVGN stuff. It is still similar but I feel it is now different enough. At least this way with him and AVGN we get twice the content and not all rehashes
Fun fact, the Nintendo Switch had a hidden easter egg at launch where if you input the birthdate of Satoru Iwata when you first boot up the system, and at the home screen you hold the joycons and do the iconic "Directly to you" hand motion with the joycons and you can play NES Golf on a NES emulator. This is before Nintendo did the Nintendo Online with the NES games.
Hey Chris, I've been watching since before I was 10 years old (almost 20 now) and I gotta say you're the reason I got into retro gaming, thanks for being apart of my childhood, and hopefully you'll continue for another 10 years, and beyond!
It's hard to believe that more than a decade has passed since Chris started the Irate Gamer. It is so surreal to think that many of us have legitimately grown-up while watching this guy, it's wild
Great video, Glad you returned to your roots. Love the editing and effects. Once the AVGN stuff was totally squashed, you stepped up your game and seem to really be having fun. While people can blast your for your beginnings being too similar to AVGN, your activity level and newer stuff cannot be dismissed. Personally, there is room for an irate gamer and an angry video game nerd esp now Keep up the good work..
I remember watching you when I was 8, I'm 21 now. Seeing you review Gyromite & Stackup here was such an amazing mix of new and nostalgia. Really glad to see you're still active, wishing you the best.
Happy New Year Irate Gamer aka Chris Bores starting the new year off with a banger of a review and with that keep up the good work as always stay safe out there,Lord Colton Of Gallifrey
Great to see you back, Chris! My cousin had Mario and Duck Hunt back in the day but he never got around to getting the gun controller. Since we couldn't shoot the ducks we had to endure the dog laughing at us. I immediately saw why people wanted to shoot the dog. XD
Fact: the reason why Mario is in these games is because back then he was not only the mascot, but also the face brand so using him in any game made by Nintendo was allowed.
1:35 $139.99 in 1985 is equivalent in purchasing power to about $338.88 today, an increase of $198.89 over 36 years. The dollar had an average inflation rate of 2.49% per year between 1985 and today, producing a cumulative price increase of 142.08%.
As a 5th/6th grader at the time, there was something magical and exciting about Nintendo's NES launch titles. The near basic artwork featuring pixelated sprites of classic favorites like Donkey Kong and Popeye and instant classics like Metroid and (to a lesser extent) Kid Icarus. The majority still gets gameplay from me perennially - 'cept Gyromite + Gumshoe! 💜🎮❤ Great mini retrospective! 😉
Probably the best secondary character. Even beating out satan. He should at least be in a golden axe warrior, super ghouls n ghosts or wizards n warriors episode. Hes literally getting blacklisted for complaining about getting blacklisted :(
It is great to see how you have grown, your content has got really really good over the past couple years my man, i was a fan back in the day but you are on a whole new level now
Great video again buddy. I know you're a fan of the Arcade1up cabinets. What did you think of the new releases? I can't wait for x-men personally. Loved that game growing up.
I thought the only launch titles was Mario bros. and Duck Hunt and World class Track Meet which me and my Brother got with the Power Pad? Ya learn something everyday. Great vid my man! Keep'em coming
Man getting the Nes was a game changer for sure. Glad I was around for it's debut. Of course I was born in 79' so I was there to see the Atari video game crash as well. I always wondered why they changed the title of Kung-Fu Master to just Kung-Fu. I also played the Commodore 64 version of this game first. 😬. Super Mario of course is probably the most iconic game in gaming history. Can we go back to the 80's? Times were way better and less crazy.
Christ, with this launch lineup it's no wonder the NES came out and dominated the market because there probably weren't 17 games all round this good in the whole of the Atari 2600's library, which I think was the most popular console prior to the NES launching. This is honestly an extremely well rounded and solid launch lineup for NES. I'm genuinely impressed.
Thanks for revewing the games that I never got to play as a kid. Without youtube in the 80s it was hard to tell if a game sucked or not. Now I know I wasn't missing much.
Remember playing Kung Fu and Hogans Alley in the arcades and was absolutely blown away with how good they were on the NES. I still play my original Kung Fu now but unfortunately my gun and hogans alley have broke but I am trying to find them at a cheap price.
HAHAAHHAHAHAHAH the hogans alley part where you are like "AH FUCK YOU!" Made me LOL AHAHAHAHAHAHA awesome dude so glad you are still blasting out great videos!
Idk if that really works out. I was able to afford one from all my birthday money i got when I was only 9. Hardly doubt kids get 350.00 for birthdays these days haha
Stop blurring your face and increasing the brightness whenever you film yourself, if anything it makes you look a bit weirder. Your content is awesome nonetheless, I wish you would upload more often.
This video is NOT Donkey Kong urine! The Mario 1 and Duck Hunt was my first cart. Good times...until the Genesis came out. That's when glory days REALLY began.
When you played Wild Gunman all I can think about was Back to the Future Part II. Kid 1: "This is a video game!" Kid 2: "I got it working!" Kid 1: "My dad told me about these." Marty: "There's Wild Gunman." Kid 2: "How do you play this thing?" Marty: "I'll show you kid. I'm a crack shot at this." Kid 1: "You mean you have to use your hands?" Kid 2: "That's like a baby's toy!" Marty: "Baby's toy?"

I saw one in complete condition for only $150.00 several years ago. Way cheaper than today’s prices.
That Hogan's Alley spin effect was pretty hilarious.
The RoboCop game missed a huge opportunity by not incorporating the light gun!
Guy starts talking about games one day and goes off about ghosts the next
Poor Luigi. Even his fraternal advantage can’t score him more games than Prof. Hector.
