“AND I WILL DO MY DUTY” with such grit, and power. Amazing voice acting and scene, that line is used through the game a lot but this is the best one imo
I played through this section today. And all I kept thinking was, “My god can this boss fight be over? ALL I WANT IS A JOSHUA AND CLIVE REUNION. NOW.” 😂😂
I wish Clive would have really twisted the knife on that harlot here. "How does it feel to know that the son you traded everything for is as useless as you assumed me to be? He will Never awaken as Bahamut, he will never awaken as Phoenix and he will never awaken as Ifrit"
Clive already verbally ripped Anabella a new one when they met each other again. Having Clive say another scathing speech would be redundant. Plus, Anabella is left in such a pathetic state that killing her, or giving another "the reason you suck" speech wouldn't be worth it. Finally, Clive no longer cares about what happens to her mother or for her affection and approval, having long accepted that she is the way she is, and won't concern for much more beyond recognizing that she's his biological mother. All he cares at this point is that his brother is alive
She's not a harlot She's a duchess in a Victorian style fantasy world with all the politics, states of affairs and commerce that exist in it I hate her and would see her struck down but the fact that square enix can write such a well done Victorian fantasy and has been since final fantasy tactics is amazing
@@taipao6661 "She's not a rectangle. She's a square." Same energy. Anabella is just an extremely wealthy and powerful harlot, like every other Victorian duchess. This only speaks more to your point that the ability of Square Enix to write a Victorian [Final] Fantasy speaks wonders for their writing skills.
She's a narcissistic parent. You can't reason or say more to them. They will always think of themselves as not being wrong and will never admit that they are. It also doesn't help that she is an elitist who was raised with that toxic mindset. She never considered Clive and Joshua as her kids. And she only 'loved' Olivia as just another tool. The reason she broke down when her third son died is because she realized her plans and what she worked for were all for naught. That's just it. She was never, ever, capable of 'loving' something or even someone.
His mother delusion is the reason why she's miserable on her own, inability to accept the humility and instead decided to destroy her own family in order to gain a petty prestige that is useless.
This game will always be in my top 10 games of all time. My late nephew is also named Joshua and I saw him as my little brother. This whole sequence had me broken inside. I miss him to this day.
The ending absolutely killed my tear ducts and made me stuffed up for 2 days after finishing the game. No other game but FF16 could make me cry as much as it did.
You know what would have made this scene perfect? That harridan of an evil mother realizing BOTH of her sons were Dominants! I'd have loved to see her reaction to that!
Yeah this is what I was thinking. I feel like this confrontation was not enough and her just going crazy at the end didn't really give me what I need. I needed her to know how supremely she f***** up. And that she sold her country and it turns out her two sons were supremely powerful. I need them to write this scene over 🤣
@@ShinySonic oh yeees 😭💔 it hurts me so much. They deserved it! After all they've been through! It touched me so deeply 😭😭 I don't care about the saved world. I just wanted Joshua and Clive to be reunited forever!
I never comment on youtube videos lol But this story and having a brother is hitting me in my heart. I just wanted to make sure I wasn’t the only one having tears form in my eyes with every moment Clive and Joshua interact 😮💨 The love they have for each other is how my brother and I are, I would do anything for him 😭
Scenes like this is what makes me believe Ben Starr should've won best performance, he didn't just nail it, he was literally Clive Rosfield and it felt real
The bond these brothers have, so strong and precious. I will say, Joshua yells at Clive that he can’t save the world on his own but, Joshua has a bit of hero complex too trying to do things on his own.
I'd have loved to see Clive'a anger take hilt and suddenly limit break/semi-primalise in front of her before Joshua arrived. Not only was Clive a dominant all along.....he was STRONGER than any of them AND he was the target of affection from another and she'd be forced to respond.
Can we just acknowledge that the whole reason Joshua is sickly because Anabella wanted to marry her cousin to preserve her bloodline. That is some good subtext right there.
Well, Clive is also Elwin and Anabella's son, but he is pretty healthy and strong. So, I don't think the creators are trying to imply Joshua is sickly due to cousins marriage.
@@jhonsonkonja6013 Clive never got the Phoenix. If being Eikon has a genetic component which the story implies, then that may the reason why he wasn't an Eikon.
