I feel the answer will varies by person to person because everyone has different value on friendship & marriage and think differently depending on what stage they are in their life. I would have to say divorce is pretty painful but it does not happen as likely as friendship breakup would. I'd say divorce because most often, you married someone never believing or thinking one day you would divorce them. You both exchanged vows to each other and promised to be there for one another. I know now today is something else with the whole marriage thing. If you truly care for each other, yeah it would hurt a lot. But I wouldn't discard that friendship breakup does not hurt esp if you really care & trusted the friend a lot.
