Hey y'all, I just want you to know that I was CAPed last year, but I was accepted into The University of Texas at Austin after attending one semester at a 4-year college.
Like many of you, in high school I had a competitive class rank, several officer positions, and extracurricular activities that I thought would have helped boost my college application. I was devistated when I didn't get in, and like most of you I couldn't see myself going to a small outlet campus for 1-2 years. I decided to go to an out-of-state university instead, and honestly it was the WORST mistake I could have made.
If you love The University of Texas at Austin and you know that you belong on that campus, accept the CAP program. It will take a lot of stress off of you and I promise you that the 2 years will be worth it in the long run. YOU WILL GRADUATE A LONGHORN!
I decided to apply as a transfer student half way through the Fall semester. The transfer application requires 2 essays, a minimum of 24 credit hours, and a college GPA of at least a 3.75. Utilize your resources. The UT Admissions Guy's videos / email / example essays are very hepful. Best of luck.

I honestly have no idea how I got capped, not even put into my second choice major or anything. I guess being an eagle scout, 4 ranks off from top 6%, 1490 SAT (690 English, 800 Math), 800 Math II, 780 Physics, 13 years of science fair (four 1st place wins), one of the top scorers of the NASA aerospace scholars program, and being ranked as the #3 best violinist in the state of texas doesn't mean shit.

Christopher C never did anything in HS, 980 in SAT, didn’t attempt ACT, rank 160~, 3.4 GPA and i got capped. currently at UTRGV and finished fall semester with a 3.8 GPA and i just need to finish this semester off and i’ll be at 40 acres this august. the only reason i applied was because my counselor let me come along to a UT tour i wasn’t actually invited to bc of my stats. and it was bc i was talking to the tour guide at UT we had a conversation where she asked me if i had applied and i tried explaining how i’m just here because of luck and not because i actually deserve it, and she said “well, it’s not like the only thing we look for is stereotypically smart kids” and i responded “yeah that make sense because anyone can be clever but not everyone has wisdom” and right after i said that she said “i REALLY want you to apply now” and i did. it’s all in the essay and what type of person you are and you have to believe into what you’re going to do in life. it is not enough to just have the highest stats and the genius who took 7 AP classes, worked 4 jobs, was in 32 extracurriculars and maintained a 4.0 GPA bc at that point that becomes the average and you need something else to define you

@@mansiduqbwbhrkciduq Heyyyy, I'm in UTRGV (MSA student) too and got CAPed as well. Lol I feel way better coming here. First, I felt like a loser, but then seeing people way out of my league offered CAP. I knew I was not going to get admission because I didn't work hard on the essay. Also, my high school life was not pleasant. I'm kind of surprised I got CAPed.

    - 1400+ SAT
    - 4.2 GPA
    - Strong, persuasive essays that detail overcoming struggle. My mom had a stroke, my father cheated, and a friend committed suicide in a timeframe of 3 months.
    - A letter detailing being ranked first in a college calculus course
    - Started a business
    - Given speeches in front of veteran's organizations and gotten a donation of $3,000 for them
    - Given political speeches in front of crowds of over 500 people multiple times
    - Held leadership positions in local service organizations
    - Worked with the dean of business at my HS to get a past VP of McDonald's to come to speak
    - Had a day created in my name signed by the mayor
    - Interned at a local hedge fund
    - Interned at a local mortgage lender and gave presentations to train his employees
    - Interned at a local doctor's office
    - Had a letter from the college counselor detailing that I was the ONLY student that she would write a rec letter for to get into UT.
    - Been a 4 times State Champion in Marching band
    - Been elected to a council of 7 students from my grade to oversee expulsions.
    - done more stuff that I can't remember

Im not even born in States but I grew up in Texas so I know that competitiveness of schools that are wanting to go to UT Austin. I was selected to be in CAP. Before I even got the email I had no hope into getting in and was looking for others like going to UNT and transfer as a graduate or go to TCC and transfer junior year. When I read the email saying I was offered the CAP I was like this is probably the best option if I still want to go to UT Austin. In my eyes I think CAP is the best way for me if I want to go to UT.
