In this video I take you with me on my very first flight with the new DJI Air 2 drone as I test out the 3x 70mm telephoto camera, obstacle avoidance, range, color profiles, activetrack, slow motion and more.
I may earn a small commission for purchases made through the above links. Using them will help me make more videos like this!
Love the video. Appreciate that it's not some "polished," highly-edited first flight and is really just you out there exploring the drone and its capabilities.
Thanks! Glad you liked it! I wasn't sure how the less polished and edited format would go over, so it's great to hear positive feedback!
@@flyingfilmmaker For sure! It made me feel like I was there with you trying the drone out for the first time, which is exactly what I want in a "first flight" video. The polish can be saved for a full edited review.
Excellent first flight! It was nice to watch it actually following you with the camera that was on the tripod. Loved it!
Thanks! That did work out quite well!
If you fly drones then you have the best hobby ever that even earns you money
Fantastic demonstration of the capabilities of the Air3!
Smart to blur out the height btw
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
Wow, Im new to drones and just got my Air 3 last week. I'm blown away at the quality of your videos. Thanks for sharing your gear links and links to training.
Thanks! No problem, glad you found it useful!!
Great video. The terrain your in is so similar to mine in the UK lake district. I look forward to seeing more of your videos and especially learning your camera skills.Excellent.
Hi there! Just found you on here. Wow what a stunning place to live! Beautiful countryside. My Air 3 arrived a couple of days ago, and I'm all set up and charged, but weather says otherwise! Grrr! Typical windy wet English weather. Love to know what state you're in in America? Handy to know you can change the C button to different lenses. I missed that on my set up. Great vid! I'm subscribed! 🙂
Thanks, really appreciate that! It's is quite frustrating when the weather won't cooperate! I'm based in West Virginia. Basically the middle of nowhere, but it is very beautiful here!
@@flyingfilmmaker well you’re lucky as looks stunning! 😊
Thank you for a very interesting video. My wife has bought a DJI Air 3 for Christmas. I will have it on Christmas night. I start training as soon as possible after Christmas. Witch post production software would you recommend? For photo I am using ON1 Photo RAW. Greetings from Norway.
Nice flight test, thanks for sharing.
On the Mavic 3 (standard/original version) it is usually recommend to touch the screen to focus. I don't know if the Air 3 has improved the button half-press focus.
It's worked great for me! I don't think the old remotes had a half press function. (or at least I never found it!)
the place you stay such in nature plant ans trees which location is that? greeting from Malaysia 😊
awesome video..i m totally beginner who just purchased AIR 3
pls advice how i rotate air3 around a subject like WEDDING COUPLE
nice video ... one question why is your height indicator blanked out .....how high were you flying ?
I would imagine over 400 feet. But that’s only a guess.
I had my first flight today still trying to get my head round it.
Yep, always takes a bit to get used to new gear!
There are a LOT of changes with this version. I'm not surprised at your reaction. It will take time to get familiar enough with all the features to be able to switch quickly to the sub-set you want.
is it quieter than the mini 3 pro
Certainly not! The mini 3 pro is much quieter.
I currently own the Air 2S and Mini 3 Pro. This is a tempting upgrade. I live in a suburban area and sound level is a big deal. I would love a sound level comparison between the Mini 3 Pro/Air 2S/ Air 3 in an upcoming video. That's the only thing holding me back. I love your vids. I signed up for your master class
mine comey today :) cant wait for this amazinng drone, i recommend making some nice HDR Videos with HLG, it is a hybrid log gamma for rec 709 and rec 2020 delivery :)
Yep, HLG is nice, but I actually prefer D-LOG a lot of the time.
I am considering buying it , but the fact it has fixed aperture is holding me back. On bright daylight a ND is a must but i am not familar working with them. Is just an ND filter plus auto setting enough or i adjustment of shutterspeed needed too ?
And : Can i conclude you prefer HLG over normal and DLOG-M
Yeah, fixed aperture is kind of a pain. As far as ND filter, I discus this more in my free training, but basically the goal of ND filters is reduce the amount of light coming into the camera to let you use a shutter speed of double your frame rate (so 1/60th of a second for 30fps). I set my shutter speed manually to 1/60th and then use a ND filter that gives me the right exposure. I do often end up having to use a slightly different shutter speed to fine tune the exposure though, which wouldn't be the case with a variable aperture.
On HLG, I've been switching back and forth between HLG and DLOG-M and both are great! HLG will be easier to grade though while keeping most or all of the dynamic range.
Great video! Would love to see you do something like a spec ad…maybe you could get some shots of lightning and rock climbers!
There is a chance that might happen 😉🤔🔥
Why did you blurr out the height?
Probably over 400 feet which is a little bit of a no no.
Crazy flying skills!
Thanks!
How do you grade the footage to look soo cool?
My secret sauce. 😉 Basically masks, plus manual corrections, plus LUTs, all in Davinci Resolve. Here's a video where I break down the my 7 secrets of color grading. ruclips.net/video/_bp-yeY-cjM/видео.html
Good drone
The only issues I have to the air 3 are that the FOV is only 82 degrees whereas the Air 2s has 88 and the fact that they got rid of 5.4k video. Otherwise I would say it is a complete Upgrade as I feel like it is a Side Grade to the Air 2s. If you have the Mavic Air 2 then it is an Upgrade.
The only issue should be the 1/1.3" sensor while the Air2s has 1 inch 😎
@@fendrou it’s probably why that the air 2s has better FOV
I would tend to agree, although DJI does seem to have done some amazing things with the tiny sensor. I'm going to be testing all of that out and doing a full comparison with the Air 2S. @fendrou @joe-wk9ow
Did that controller come with the drone or did you have to buy it separately?
I got the Fly More combo with the DJI RC 2. So it did come included, but you have to get that bundle, otherwise you just get the regular one that you use with your phone.
Whats the max speed in active track modes?
Not sure. I haven't tested that yet!
In the picture mode, does the camera zoom in and out, or does the zoom only works while taking video?
Hmm, not sure! I'll have to test that out. The 3x camera definitely works but I'm not sure if digital zoom works in photo mode.
Is this somewhere around North Carolina??
West Virginia actually!
@@flyingfilmmaker I was close.
Well of course the air 3 is amazing. The air 2 was amazing. Still is.
👍👍👍
One mile in the uk crap
180 shutter rule????
Can't get ND filters for it yet.
:)
I eat eggs
bit hard to follow with the constant croaky voice
Thats just his voice, what do you want him to do about it?
Shout out to all the people who pulled a 6:21(time stamp) at some point mid flight🤣🎥🫰🏽
