Airbus Beluga XL AEROBATICS DISPLAY - Fly Past, Wing Wave & Landing at Broughton - February 2019

- The new, bigger version of the Airbus Beluga cargo aircraft, the Beluga XL came to the UK for the first time today with a flight from Toulouse, France. En route, it did a couple of flypasts in the Bristol area, the airbus factory and then the Clifton suspension bridge before coming up to Broughton.
The Aircraft did a normal approach and flew downwind next to the filming location, performing a normal flypast and then a wing wave as it flew past for a second time before finally landing

Must be a very good pilot to land a monster aircraft like that, I imagine he/she has nerves of steel. Looking at the windscreen gives perspective how small people are against the Airbus, it is enormous, getting it off the ground looks impossible.

A beautiful plane. A tribute to our beautiful animals. It literally looks like a whale in the sky. And from some angles it looks like a ufo mothership.

I find it somewhat bizarre that somebody can describe themselves as being not a big airbus fan. As an aeroplane enthusiast I find them ALL amazing - Boeing, Airbus, Fokker, Sukhoi, Embraer etc. etc. etc..... Even this big ugly old freak!
YelpBullhorn Yeah of course I love all aircraft, but i think airbus ones are just a bit less special than others: the a300 a310 a330 and a340 are based off the same base model from the late 60s and are just a bit boring to me! As for the a350: it's just plain ugly! This thing however is awesome.
The stop was amazing. For the first time your video didn’t do it justice. I was inside the airfield fir the landing and the sound it made especially when stopping was amazing, smelt the engine and rubber for a good few minutes after

It left a fresh pair of skid marks from both main gears, was that supposed to happen?
Russell Ikin the runway is so short and a a330 based aircraft that it had to test emergency landings. All aircraft companies have to do similar for all planes but this was primarily to see how fast it can stop in Broughton in a emergency situation

The Beluga XL didn't divert into Manchester.
A regular Beluga did because of low visibilty at Chester,earlier that morning.

I was there that day. It was awesome to see it wing wave on it's second trip over the crowd and then land on the third. It was a great way to spend Valentines day! :D No, really, it was. :)

The shape is necessary for the transportation of wings. I think that they did a good job in making a bizarre but necessary plane look like something natural like a whale or dolphin(depends who you ask) - I see kinda hybrid dolphin face whale body. Excellent Video, wish i could of been there. thanks for sharing.

It was better. Due to the power of this beast, they threw up the shieldy things which block all view from the B5125 and the B5129.

Must be a hell of a lot of thrust to operate the Baluga with 2 engines instead of 4. Impressive airplane in all regards.
Its the same engine as on the standard A330. The Beluga XL is actually even lighter than the base aircraft. Air resistance is of course higher
Airbus needs to give these a ‘Mars Attacks’ paint scheme.
