The yellow one is a DC cdi it should be powered by ignition key 12v The orange Cdi is an AC cdi the power comes from the primary coil of your stator That's why the other one didn't work
Good video. I owned a scooter shop sales and service in 2011-2012. My findings agree with yours. Lot's of hype around CDI's, but not a lot of gains for normal scooters that are riden on the street.
I have a dc 50cc scooter in texas and his large yellow one is trash even for dc bike the cheap cdi dont work well on dc motors from my experience I need to buy a expensive one and see
just dropped a naraku cdi into my 50cc gy6 and it removed the rev limit and got me another 5-10mph though I didn't max it out due to high rpms, I stopped at 11k, and 45mph
Those scooters are almost gear bound. At 45 mph your turning 8-9000 rpm's. You need to change the gearing. Then put the 52mm big bore kit on. Then you will see a difference.
Wait. He's hitting 48m mph on a 50cc?! Damn. In my state, you don't need a motorcycle license and registration/tag for 50cc or 49cc so that's why most people ride them. Big bore kit makes not legal without insurance, tag, and motorcycle license. And trying to get the DMV to register a 50cc is RIDICULOUSLY hard for whatever reason. :(
I don't think any CDI will make a noticable difference, unless you have a majorly modified engine, cam, higher compression, and running lighter weights, for more rpm! I have seen 10k with mine, and still no noticable difference, even with the ac adjustable CDI,
This is info I've gathered: * Remove Emissions *Add G- EGR Block-off Plate (GY6) *Add a 1/8 In. Rubber vacuum cap *Remove rev limiter (white) bushing on CVT variator *Remove/Cut the Pink/Purple wire on the CDI harness *Replace stock exhaust ( internal rev limiter) with aftermarket exhaust *Replace stock air box w/ cone style air filter
I just ordered a China 150 scooter. Specs say it's max speed is at least 55 plus depending on rider and road. It's got 10.58 hp. Specs say it also has a speed limiter. Why would a 150 need to have a speed limiter if it's made to go at least 55 mph?
I think that would be in place to prevent you from over revving the engine and doing damage. It is probably meant to reach 55mph, but not for a long period of time. My scooter is screaming at 55-57 mph and it is very close to the rev limiter

Thanks! Yeah, I realized that I bought the wrong type of CDI after filming the video.
Should have got the blue one

How do all of these compare to your stock CDI?-John in Texas

The Big yellow one is a DC CDI, they make adjustable cdi for ac, but I didn't notice any difference! Only hard starting,
I'm doing 60mph on my 50cc gator only thing I've changed is the contra spring I went to the yellow 1500.
Could you please send me one of your old used performance cdi boxes? This is serious i really need it

I have a Yerfdog UTV it has a 150cc Gy6 motor.. Wondering If same applies to it...?
I would assume so! Fortunately, the cdi boxes are really cheap, so you could buy a few and try them out.

Yeah I definitely agree. I was thinking about messing around with the roller weights and see how the top speed is affected.

@@androidken No. This is a 150cc engine (not a 50)

I just installed the yellow one on my bike. It’s a DCCDI.
Can anyone tell me if all scooters have a "CDI" I have a 43cc Chinese stand up scooter
Take the washer out behind the variator will give ya 5 mph.

Is the black cos the original or another you have bought
In Part One he explained that he is second owner the stock CDI has already been swapped out with another black one

@@TyposGarage I see.. Thank you!
Also try the ProgCDi
You need the blue ac cdi
Just saw a video on that today and do things really do work as far as acceleration
The one is for a dc setup not a ac.

your problem with the adjustable cdi its a dc your scooter is ac
Buy the aliexpress universal programmable cdi.
bud the yellow one is a dc cdi your scooter is ac
Saya membeli yang warna kuning, info dari seller tidak ada batas limiter
Has to be Ac not Dc
DC. DC. DC. !!!!!!!!! .
The adjustable one is a DC. Your scooter is AC. That's why it wouldn't work. Just FYI.
