I found Rachel Gunn's performance to be cringe-worthy, but worse was the delusion of people supporting her performance. 🙄

I get what you're saying-Rachel's performance definitely had its awkward moments. But sometimes, I think people just rally behind their own, even when it's not the best. 🤷‍♂️

It's pretty repulsive to watch tbh but how did she get selected in the first place 🤔🤔

It sounds like her performance didn't resonate with you, which is fair since breakdancing can evoke different reactions based on personal taste. As for how she got selected, it's likely due to her skills in qualifying competitions or through her reputation in the dance community. Dancers often have to prove themselves in various national and international events to make it to the Olympic stage. While her style might not appeal to everyone, it seems she earned her spot based on the criteria used by the judges in those earlier stages.

😂 Exactly! Dance like no one's watching, Rachel-though it seems like we're all sneaking a peek anyway! 👀

At least the most embarrassing things from Australia the last 10 years isn’t the head of state. Just saying.

Fair point! We've had our share of cringe-worthy moments, but I guess every country has its ups and downs. At least we can laugh at ourselves and keep moving forward. Cheers! 😄🇦🇺

Break Dancing, that's what she was doing? And I thought the "Curley Shuffle" was now an Olympic Sport.

😂 I see where you're coming from! Break dancing has definitely evolved over the years, but I guess everyone has their own unique style. Who knows, maybe the 'Curley Shuffle' will make it to the Olympics one day! 😆

Dance is subjective. Especially THIS style. I mean- What exactly are they judging at an Olympic level? I have watched her past performances AND this one- there is nothing wrong them. She has her own style- as do the others. We should be celebrating the difference rather than everyone doing the same thing. She reminds of some of the street performers I have seen here over the last 30 years here in California. The most entertaining brought a comedic value to it. This was not the first time I have seen "the Kangaroo". I feel like if it was a guy, we wouldn't even be talking about it.

Thanks for sharing your perspective! You're right that dance, especially breakdancing, is very subjective and leaves plenty of room for individual style. At the Olympic level, they're likely judging technical skills, musicality, creativity, and overall performance. While Rachel’s style may appeal to some, others might have different expectations for what they want to see in a high-level competition. The comparison to street performers is interesting-those moments of humor and individuality definitely add character. As for the gender point, it's possible there are biases in how we critique male vs. female performers. It’s great to have these discussions to make sure everyone gets a fair shot!
