Having a grandmother with dementia now, Salad Fingers hits different, especially newer episodes which are more heavy and less comedic. Its aged and darkened with time, as is surely David's intent as life continues for him as well.
@@eligma4399 The early ones _were_ funny. Then, I think in ep 4, Salad Fingers heard someone else's voice for the first time in like forever, realized he wasn't imagining the little girl, and things spun out of control fast. Edit: I correct myself, a rewatch shows me it was episode 5, "Picnic".

I have to say, i don't think salad fingers is actually dead. This is far from the first time hes eaten himself, and I think its probably some kind of symbolism.
I was going to say it seems like fingers could have gone through this process several times, so all the previous episodes could potentially be of different fingers. Mind blown.
It’s been 19(?) years now and somehow David still manages to ramp up the crazy factor. Every episode I watch leaves me just as shocked as the first one did when I was still a kid.
Beautifully disturbing. I love how since ever, each episode leaves that strange feeling of void, like a middle point between not knowing shit of what's going on and understanding everything all at the same time. I'm happy the Salad Fingers is back (even if he was eaten by himself). Cheers from Argentina.
This show has more consistency than any other piece of relevant television ever created. It's like, once in a while, I sort of forget about salad fingers, then it suddenly hits me like a rusty spoon and I find myself back here
Ok i’m already cooking up a theory for this episode hear me out it’s gonna be long: So I think it’s kinda obvious that this episode revolves around the themes of death a rebirth. I personally think this is how salad is able to survive in this wasteland. He literally feeds off of himself. At the beginning of the episode we see him complaining about the “grand feast” being a disaster. I think the grand feast was supposed to be the rebirth of multiple salads and the “mother of life and builder of salads body” needs flesh to do that. I think that’s the reason why salad put that finger puppet that was wrapped in what looks like rotten human skin, into the ground for her to feed on. I also think the birthday episode has some play in this. The end of the episode showed multiple corrupted versions of salad and those were probably past versions of salad that had already got eaten. And he was gifted a hat made out of that dead human body that he was storing. That’s probably also why he was mad at the horses because he thought they had eaten all of his flesh away. He needed that flesh to feed and it was gifted to him on his birthday. So after salad gave the rotting finger puppet to the “mother of life”, instead of her showing up “grandmother growth” sprouts up. After salad gave whatever human flesh he had left with him, the mother of life probably couldn’t produce another salad with that little amount of flesh, so grandmother growth steps in. Playing off of the idea that salad eats other versions of himself, i can imagine he’s starving since the “grand feast” was a disaster. So grandmother growth grows a new version of salad inside the current one so the current salad could feed the new one. And the current salad probably knows his fate by now. Also “Lady Etheridge” is probably a replacement for death, as “boyfingers” i’m gonna call him, says that he can see her on the horizon. Meaning death is approaching. That could also explain why salad says “Oh boyfingers, how am I to teach you my trade in such limited moments” right after. He’s building up boyfingers to be a perfect replacement for him after he is consumed. He doesn’t put up a fight when he being cooked alive and even says “It’s all in your hands now” So yea this is probably how he “reproduces” Thanks for coming to my ted talk :)
One feature I think is really interesting masculine pronouns/inferences referring to salad fingers as masculine when historically salad fingers has referred themselves as a her, receiving a dowry or so forth. While hinted at for several episodes, here I feel it is now explicit: Salad Fingers is not representing a character, Salad Fingers represents the "Fingers" family and the abuse that occurs wherein. Here he seems to represent the father and the son, but in others she can represent the mother or grandmother. To me, Salad Fingers is utilising horror and a fictional setting to explore real-life horror, Harvest seems to be about growing old, having children and fear of being "replaced", whereas, for example, Glass Brother was more specifically about familial abuse and its mental effects.
the more the series goes on the more i’m convinced this takes place on the surface of some cadaver or carrion. The best thing David should do is never answer where this world is

Salad fingers
Having a grandmother with dementia now, Salad Fingers hits different, especially newer episodes which are more heavy and less comedic. Its aged and darkened with time, as is surely David's intent as life continues for him as well.
Comedic? Which episode is comedic?
@@CrummyJokerthe early ones for sure were supposed to be funny
@@eligma4399 The early ones _were_ funny. Then, I think in ep 4, Salad Fingers heard someone else's voice for the first time in like forever, realized he wasn't imagining the little girl, and things spun out of control fast.
Edit: I correct myself, a rewatch shows me it was episode 5, "Picnic".
Am I alone in thinking the later episodes are funnier than the originals? I was laughing when Fingers got bashed over the head with a rock and then greeted it honourably before passing out. Also when he played the bugle as he sank into the water
@@eligma4399
@eligma4399 Like the 2nd episode where Salad Fingers lures a child into his house, traps him into the oven and later it's implied he ate the child? Or the 3rd episode where he hungs a corpse by a meat hook and plays it the flute. Or the fourth episode where he has a literal stalker that traps him in jail.
Yea hilaarious......
I was feeling so crummy today and this suddenly appearing in my sub box cheered my horrid loving heart right up. Thank you Mr Firth

I often found Salad Fingers more hypnotic comforting and humorous, but this episode had the uncomfortable edge to it for me.

You mean the flashback of him eating his own skull was pleasant and comforting to you??
It was the fact that he effectively cooked his own body and ate it for me@@Jayxe

Rest in peace, salid fingers
2007-2023
*salid fungers
He's still alive
This episode explains that in each episode there is another salad fingers
I think he died twice, one time in “present” and the second in “harvest” (i think
He died in the episode where he saw himself at Jeremy and ate himself
That jumpcut from being cooked to being soulless and disgusting food was just perfect.
Worth the effort!
For a second I couldn't see his pupils, making it even more horrifying
I have to say, i don't think salad fingers is actually dead. This is far from the first time hes eaten himself, and I think its probably some kind of symbolism.
I see it like a rebirth similar to a phoenix
Or metabolism
I was going to say it seems like fingers could have gone through this process several times, so all the previous episodes could potentially be of different fingers. Mind blown.
it really depends on if this is reality or just symbolism or even both
You also have to remember that Salad Fingers isn't exactly a reliable narrator.
It’s been 19(?) years now and somehow David still manages to ramp up the crazy factor. Every episode I watch leaves me just as shocked as the first one did when I was still a kid.
I love how soft mr boyfingers eats mr fingers yet its so calm
Beautifully disturbing. I love how since ever, each episode leaves that strange feeling of void, like a middle point between not knowing shit of what's going on and understanding everything all at the same time. I'm happy the Salad Fingers is back (even if he was eaten by himself). Cheers from Argentina.
Alto gusto te tenés, muy buena esta serie
How surreal is it that David firth is still making amazing content 20+ years on?
We grow up with salad fingers, he literally gave birth in this episode!
they grow up so fast!
He gave birth in episode 9 to tho I think that was the farthest thing from a fucking baby as could ever be made.
@@yazir736I thought it was literally a giant turd. That he was clearly constipated for ages so much that the shit he produced was that big .
I don't see how that's surreal.
I can't decide if Salad Fingers' voice is calming or unnerving. It's somehow both at the same time 😭
I get the feeling, thats me when I see Salad Fingers as both innocent and demented.
The voice itself is calming but the things he says is unnerving

*a couple hours later now it’s nighttime and Mr. Rusty Spoonman is sleeping*
*A miniature clone detaches from his body and goes to the end of the bed, He wakes up to this*
This show has more consistency than any other piece of relevant television ever created. It's like, once in a while, I sort of forget about salad fingers, then it suddenly hits me like a rusty spoon and I find myself back here
This series saw an entire generation grow. It is absolutely amazing that new episodes are still coming out.
Ok i’m already cooking up a theory for this episode hear me out it’s gonna be long:
So I think it’s kinda obvious that this episode revolves around the themes of death a rebirth.
He doesn’t put up a fight when he being cooked alive and even says “It’s all in your hands now” So yea this is probably how he “reproduces”
Thanks for coming to my ted talk :)
His limited time to spend with his son before his death, is a genuinely tragic moment.
One feature I think is really interesting masculine pronouns/inferences referring to salad fingers as masculine when historically salad fingers has referred themselves as a her, receiving a dowry or so forth.
While hinted at for several episodes, here I feel it is now explicit:
Salad Fingers is not representing a character, Salad Fingers represents the "Fingers" family and the abuse that occurs wherein.
Is Boyfingers even real?
2:20 Can we please go back to when he was trying to find the perfect spoon 😭
the more the series goes on the more i’m convinced this takes place on the surface of some cadaver or carrion. The best thing David should do is never answer where this world is
Now that you mention it, it looks like salad fingers can actually be some type of microorganism on a skin maybe
