A funny fact about Alhaitham, the whole reason why he decided to help the Traveller and others to rescue Kusanali and save Sumeru from a fake god is because he simply wanted to return to his usual job's relaxing schedule.
LMAO I LOVE HIM HE’S SO FUNNY
Only to be ended up promoted 🤣
@@kemi3771 And then rejecting it. But ending as the acting grand sage.
Jean would be proud. 😂
@@fayendere ikr
@@mariapazgonzalezlesme Funny also that his job is the acting grand position like Jean but his attitude is nonchalant like Lisa
Alhaitham and Kaveh's relationship feels like the clash between subjective and objective thought, morality and rationality.
Most normal conversation in Sumeru
Really hope we would be able to witness one of their conversations
@@user-kt4vn8le5p we saw one divided in two parts in library at the end of archon quest
Actually there is a theory that kaveh as kshwarer (sry if spelling wrong) believes that teyvat is round and that's how he became a senior and alhaitham believes that the teyvat is flat that's why they get in arguments with kaveh
Well nahida herself says that alhaitham holds a lot of knowledge but that he is a little arrogant but for kaveh she says that he has an almost perfect grasp of what it represents for sumeru to be the nation of wisdom, so you would be in the correct
Kaveh is... Actually a lot sweeter than he seems in the story quest
That's a given, if you understand what a jerk Alhaitham is, so by driving Kaveh up the wall you know he's actually the nice one in this relationship.
@@sweepingtime No, no, no, I knew Alhaitham was a jerk already, and I knew he was going to act differently around someone who pissed him off constantly, but he seemed like he wasn't a great person either? Better than Alhaitham, but not a super sweet person either, if that makes sense.
The way alhaitham makes kaveh's life hard is the reason why kaveh is bitter towards him
From the message boards and what other characters have said about him, he seems to be pretty kind, caring about others and also really smart. Faruzan's voiceline about him says that he is really brilliant but that he is the artsy romantic type. Nahida even says he has an almost perfect grasp of what it means for sumeru to be a nation of wisdom and I think that says a lot about his character. His appereance in the AQ does not really reflect his actual personality, I mean, if you had to deal with alhaitham everyday and then him evading answering your questions you would also be fed up with him lmaoo
@@mandyred1 I suddenly have a lot more respect for Kaveh. Can't wait till we see more of him
Alhaitham already made that clear in the Archon Quest, he is not against helping people but he won't waste his time trying to save everyone because that's just not feasible, and yet he somehow ended up saving Sumeru anyway.
Probably because it's for his own benefit just as much as it helps others
He did say at the end of the archon quest that he did all that all so he could go back to his normal duties rather than dealing with the sages corruption and being distracted from his normal work as a result
To be fair, what he did was the most efficient way to save Sumeru. So it fits.
@@arnowisp6244 Of course it fits^^ I wasn't trying to imply it was a contradiction. But many commenters perceived him as heartless after seeing this video, clearly having not paid attention to the archon quest where he already made his point clear^^
A wise woman once said “Two things can be true at once”
Subjective and Objective thought can exist together they are not mutually exclusive. Rationality and morality can very much co-exist.
I think Kaveh and Al-haithem balance one another perfectly. They may not agree and fight often but I think this is why they’re friends still.
BTW I still wanna know why alhaitham agreed for kaveh to live with him......:D
@@Eclipticlilies07 cuz kaveh was broke ass and had to live with haitham SINCE its the same house he built for him idk thats what I understand
"Do we look like friends? " 🤣🤣🤣
@@Quandale.dingle.here. huh?!! Kaveh built that house for him??:0 ayooo?!
@@Quandale.dingle.here. no where it is said that kaveh build alhaitham's house,
kaveh build dori's palace and got in debt because of it, then alhaitham invited him to crash in his home.. and seemingly pay for his drinks regulary
i agree with kaveh that mutual assistance, fairness and righteous anger drives the world. although the concept of “the fittest survives” is something i agree with too. life is a combination of those things.
I honestly think our society leans way too much into competition instead of focusing on cooperation and helping the people around us. I wish that would change. But again, for that we need more free time and easier ways to get money and be able to live comfortably without working our asses off...
Do you know Kaveh idea of wisdom is something Nahida actually agree with.
@@ahagotcha yeah! I like how Nahida actually sees both their ideas as valid and sees that it is a pity that Kaveh's idea will never be conventional
@@atriyakoller136 which is so sad because kaveh idea is not mainstream but solid proof in long run
Sadly though the “fittest” mean the rich, the privileged, and the powerful
So he's the type of guy who enjoys learning at peace and in his own pace and clashes with people who don't operate on the same level of intellect as him. He's not emotionless per say but rather simply driven by logic and rational, to the point that he can come off as tactless, inconsiderate and uncaring.
hes basically descartes but sumerian
Interesting video. The fact that his body is so buff (for a "feeble" scholar) means that other than reading he works out a lot during his free time. 😄
He works out "smart"

Alhaitham is basically the auditor for Sumeru, he validates the scholars' work before they enter the permanent record. Sloppy scholars have much to fear from him.
*flash back to the title on his presentation webpage* "a lot of badly written application are coming in lately... guess i'll reject them all"
"more pent-up frustation than an angry Anemo Slime" Kaveh, you all right bro?
No, he's on the brink of exploding 😂
There's more interaction between Kaveh and Alhaitham on the notice board on the Sumeru City dock and the food seller in the Grand Bazaar. Alhaitham asks the Lambard tavern where the ten cases of wine he ordered are. The tavern replies that they were picked up by a blond man who says he's his roommate and who had come to the tavern with him before. Alhaitham replies "...Alright. I get it". The food seller in the Grand Bazaar mentions a tall man who he thinks is a Mahamatra buying a case of wine as an apology, which is probably Kaveh. The food seller also says that his wine is pretty cheap, which is why students like to buy from him. Kaveh pinched ten cases of wine from Alhaitham and replaced it with one cheap case, which is pretty hilarious. I don't think Alhaitham is as heartless as most people are thinking. For a man who loves his home as much as he does, he offered it to his friend. And Kaveh sounds like a terrible roommate. Alhaitham's voice lines mention that he might need to sleep with noise filtering headset on because Kevah is hammering stuff in the middle of the night... that's a terrible roommate 😅 If Kevah really wanted to leave as well, I'm sure Dori would help but he hasn't really made much of an effort, which Alhaitham pointed out in their interaction in game. I think also that Alhaitham is a little concerned that his friend who already is in trouble with money, is getting more trouble with money because he's impulsive. He's right, because Kaveh is terrible with money and makes very poor impulsive decisions. Him stealing the cases of wine is a case in point. I feel like Alhaitham has a personality where he's very easily misunderstood and he probably prefers books to people. Does he like winding up Kaveh? Yes. Is it easy to wind up Kaveh? Also yes 😅 But he does seem to genuinely care for his friend enough to make sure he isn't homeless. I love them both and think their bickering is hilarious. There isn't the same undercurrent in their fighting as there is with Diluc and Kaeya. Diluc and Kaeya have a whole lot of baggage. There's a lot of grief and betrayal going on there. Alhaitham and Kevar don't seem to have that backstory. They're just old friends who probably would be closer if they weren't living together.
A little correction, the guy that buys the wine crate from the seller is probably alhaitham. The seller mentions a mahaMATA, those are different from the mahaMATRA like Cyno, while mahamatra are focused on regulating information and seeing that people avide to rules, mahamata are pretty much administrative workers of Sumeru, so alhaitham by being the scribe falls into this category. Also Kaveh does not really work for the Akademiya, he teaches electives there and is send on project bc he is a researcher but it has never been explicity stated that he has a high position there. Also just to add, its not fair to say how alhaitham feels about kaveh bc we don't actually know their backstory or the reason why they live together other than the fact that they tend to piss each other off.
@@mandyred1 I disagree. The food seller doesn't know if the person buying the case of wine is a Mahamata or not, he's assuming they are because that's what other people say. The person buying the wine is obviously someone with some degree of authority in the Akademiya...as someone who is in the running to be head of his Kshahrewar Darshan, that does fit Kaveh. The only other descriptor is "tall". Yes, I know the difference between Mahamatra and Mahamata but it was also 5am when I wrote this and my brain defaulted to Mahamatra. I do apologize for that slip.
Alhaitham is rich. He doesn't need to buy cheaper alcohol, he can buy TEN cases from Lambard tavern, it makes more logical sense that someone who is in trouble with money would buy cheaper wine would buy it...which would be Kaveh. Kaveh did take the ten cases of wine. It makes sense that it would be Kaveh that buys that wine as an apology. It's very doubtful that Alhaitham would even allow himself to be in a position where he needs to apologize for anything. So I doubt that the person buying wine as an apology would be Alhaitham, that doesn't make any sense at all. It does make sense for it to be Kaveh.
finally, someone with media literacy. thank you.
I kinda see Alhaitham and Kaveh as Zekrom and Reshiram clashing lol
Like as if one is more robotic and the other is more humane
It reminds about the debate on compassion. If there's too little compassion, there's too many selfishness. If there's too much compassion, it can be taken advantage of.
Funny, this is my immediate thought as well. Ideals vs truths.
He could sometimes be at his home or in the library
or.. In GYM, to train his MUSCLES.. for educational purposes of course..
Research has shown that Exercise helps one in learning. So it is recommended for Scholars to take walks.
Me? I prefer doing better quality exercise.
right? that tight sleeveless bodysuit only can be wore by fitness person and only someone like alhaitham can wear that.
The interaction between him and Kaveh is the best lmao. Can't wait to see them interact more
He is more than just a scribe. Currently he is the acting Grand Sage.
I guess cat wanted to make this video future proof?? Cause as of now, hes called as a scribe in his description in game

The def of “a strong mind reside in a strong body”
He's based af literally
Alhaitham is also quite right when he said to try their luck on the seas. He basically offers them a logical option to find where their skills might be needed outside rather than staying in Sumeru. It's high risk but might give a long term solution.
Kaveh is kind and gives them financial help straight away. It's a short term solution. Most people would probably prefer Kaveh's help irl. But remember that he poses problems to another, Alhaitham. He loaned money to him because of his selfless attitude. Alhaitham is still considered kind enough to let him stay for a long time.
Imo, they're both good people but 'difficult' in a way.
I would say Al-Haitham is disconnected and tone deaf in that case. His solution is to tell them to buy a boat when these people don’t have money to spare. What did he expect them to do with a useless advice? If it weren’t for Kaveh giving them aid, they still wouldn’t have a job.
i think he mainly told them get other works.
some ppl dont actually tell the meaning of their words fully. they use ships, birds, ocean and sky or any images to talk about freedom or other's hidden talents.
different way different thought.

Im here just consuming anything I can to know all abt Alhaitham. I can't wait to get him
I love Kaveh now, his personality seems so relatable

Both kaveh and alhaitham are so relatable and i love it sm
Truly, Alhaitham and Kaveh are the left and right brain of Sumeru.
As a long term fan, just wanted to say that great job for being consistent so far! The quality of your videos are superb as always, but remember to take breaks as well. ☺️
Kaveh seems a lot more wise now that I've seen this. The archon quest made him seem like a bumbling fool, but now I just see it's simply because he dislikes Alhaitham and the constant stress he provides. I knew Alhaitham was excessively objective, but I didn't know he was that cold.
I know it's been a year since you said this, but nahida's voiceline abt kaveh definitely shows how he could be wise.
It's just that him and alhaitham respresent 2 different ways of thinking
Alhaitham actually IS a nice person and he truly cares for those around him, he just wants them to take the most logical path. He also seems to struggle with self expression.
Plus, him and kaveh both DO care for each other deeply (in a platonic sense)
What a great video! I see a lot of effort put into it and it was actually REALLY pleasant to watch💛
Great video as always :D! Just wanted to point out just in case, in the description, I think the first line should instead be "... about Alhaitham before *he* is playable."

Just a question, how do you find out this much info about upcoming characters? Do you just dig that deep across many voicelines and stories?
Great video as always!
People in the lore community usually have to dig across voicelines, weapon and talent lore, notice boards, NPC dialogue, notes, world quests, and hangouts.
Seems like a lot of work but since the community is very dedicated. The wiki is always helpful.
Tyvm for this. I actually like Kaveh more after seeing your lore of him.
I will pull for him, just because of this video. Thanks for the last push.
Thank you I just got alhaithem on a one pull! I also got Yao Yao on my first too!
I couldn’t help but notice how Alhaitham told Kaveh that him giving failures money was meaningless, and so on, and that he was doing it to be a "goody-two-shoes"..but here HE is, giving someone in debt money (Kaveh).
I thought those things were meaningless?? 🤔 (I believe Alhaitham has a heart. It's just buried under all that rationality 😌).
I could've sworn the archon quest dialogue said that Alhaitham is Kaveh's senior, not the other way around but I dunno for sure
No, Kaveh is Alhaitham's senior
Nah, Kaveh technically ask if he can show a bit respect to his senior (Kaveh). Also his flash art description is from Kaveh who also said the same thing
Kaveh is the senior
I just realized they never emphasized on the whole “knowledge is a resource” in the whole storyline
What's with the little green gem between his collarbones? At first I thought he's an automaton like katheryne..
So being a scribe is a bit like back seating. Id like that
CatWithBlueHat. Can you do a lore dive on King Deshret's ruins? Lore from Golden Slumber and Dual Assignments. I dont know all the purpose of the running around and trials. I.E - What is the purpose of the Pyramid manipulating the skies? To create a perpetual sandstorm to cover up something?
Now I feel sad about kaveh
Yay! The Haitham!
WE LOVE THE HAITHAM!! >v
Although Kaveh and Alhaitham fight a lot in Alhaithams story 4 he also sees Kaveh as "excellent mirror" and thinks he can exspend his human vision and wisdom from being around someone that looks at things from opposide side. basically what Kaveh is what Alhaitham is not
Yup!!
i love alhaitham but kaveh just keeps getting sweeter and sweeter
Alhaitham is kinda cruel but damn bro kaveh is so sweet
He isn't cruel
Kaveh isnt a complete angel, he has his own flaws (saying this as a huge kaveh simp btw)

and come to think of it, he's a normal person after all. Nothing is perfect and he's still have weaknesses and his intelligence as greatest his strength...
In the archon quest, Kaveh was kinda portrayed as a jerk(obviously because he's talking to Alhaitham after all lol)...but he is very considerate towards others unlike that actual jerk; Alhaitham😂
now I want both Alhaitham and Kaveh not gonna lie
if Alhaitham sucks at 'feeling', then will perhaps Kaveh sucks at 'logic'? or balanced between those two and could act accordingly like a true normal person would? we'll see...
Neither of them are 'jerks', they simply view the world differently and are redeveloping their relationship

Kavek is a chad I'm gonna pull for him instead of the virgin Alhaizam
actually Alhaitham owns a home because of his joint research during the time as a student along with Kaveh who was part of it. The Akademiya rewarded them a house for the successful research which Kaveh chose not to accept but Alahaitham did. So it haves nothing to do with his job as Scribe.
There's also this theory where Alhaitham is the scarlet king, can you see more to it? 😋

ngl this makes me wonder more why alhaitham lets kaveh live with him.
Even if kaveh is paying rent, alhaitham talks about how he dislikes how noisy kaveh is. It would seem unlogical to have him around.

- He likes reading and knowledge
- He acts on rationality alone
- He gets a Gaia Library reference in his trailer
- He has a roommate who acts on emotions, his polar opposite
How the hell do people still not notice that he's a big Philip reference?
My only gripe is that Kaveh is not electro, otherwise they would've been the perfect W
The Alhaitham and Kaveh relationship (enemies, friends, lovers???) is probably my favorite interaction between characters yet!
Everyone hating on Al haitham is cringe and feelingspilled. Al haitham has a based philosophy of science. Kaveh is still a sweetie tho.
Nah, he's objectively a jerk. It's easy to say that only the fittest survive when he's the one who's rich and powerful. That's why he hates when Kaveh challenges the status quo
Alhaitham isn't a jerk, and Kaveh isnt a little kitten who needs to be protected! Both characters are flawed in their own ways, and it's part of what makes them such amazing characters
Where does his earphone cable goes to?
His iPod Shuffle that he keeps in a pants pocket. No doubt has audiobooks constantly playing so he can speed run reading two books at once
The dude has the qualification to become a grand sage but he likes the scribe position more
He just wants to live a simple life
another reason why kaveh is a W
He reminds me of Kakashi from Naruto. A genius, abit anti-social, didn't want responsibilities, and a total bookworm
I can't see Alhaitham reading the "type" of books Kakashi likes though lmao
Came simping for haitham leaving simping for kaveh
Head Canon: Reason why Alhaitham wanted to help out is because he just wanted to get back to his cushy house life and job.
pretty sure that's the actual canon reason
So Alhaitham is just a robot

Hey i am not completely sure how the music is called, but if it helps, I think the first time we got to hear this music in the story was in Liyue when we learned abt Ningguang and her Jade chamber from that story teller I think.
Sorry I don't know the exact answer, but I hope this does give you a lead.
Also sorry I've my English is not completely correct, I normally don't speak English
it's 'innocent age' on the shimmering voyage vol. 1 album :)
It's called The Lunar Eclipsing Palace. It plays on storyteller telling a story about Nigguang cutscene.
I agree with how Nahida and Kaveh disagrees with Al Haitham, though he sees things objectively how could he grapple with complexity relating to human emotions. In my opinion he’s one step closer to being the former grand sage Azar who literally did not care about the people of Sumeru, but he did not. BUT the only thing stopping him is because he doesn’t have that desire to be the greatest and only wants a quiet life, but what if he did?

@@foodandworldwithasiabatool828 oh.
I’m getting major Spock vibes from Alhaitham…makes me wonder if Kaveh is gonna be the overacting ham of a ladies man Kirk was.
Hmm… interesting… I think I finally figured out the reason why Alhaitham’s caught my eye since his initial reveal in 3.0
He’s someone who runs purely on rationality, meaning he’s an extremely practical person who speaks straightforwardly and doesn’t beat around the bush. The type of person that I appreciate interacting with because I prefer dealing with cold hard facts over roundabout talk. Someone who I won’t have to constantly keep in touch with to maintain a good relationship with, so long as the last impression left with him wasn’t bad.
What an ideal acquaintance to have… too bad he only exists in a fictional setting 😔
P.S. Only con would be his lack of empathy due to his rationality, but for some reason, knowing that gives me the urge to seek him out just to bother him and drag him out to experience more of the world outside his books. Which I would probably never do in real life cause I’m an extreme introvert 😅
Thanks for the video now I'm an Alhaitham hater.
Cause now he reminds me of politicians who say teachers should start their business if they're complaining about their small wage, also of that secretary that's always absent/on break when you need them, also I think he would support AI art💔
Edit: im not reading replies but it was a /j btw
Kaveh will against it. But I don't think Al-haitham will actually support AI art. Instead he would be against it as much as any rational person. In his mind, the AI art is just stealing other people works and is a theft. Like the video say he is a guy run on rationality
I get what you mean, for me I have mixed feelings for that type of personality, I really dislike people who think that way, but it is good to be rational and unbiased at times. I prefer more of Kaveh's mindset and outlook to life but my dumbass brain will ignore Alhaitham's personality traits only because of his character model and that is why i'm getting him.
@@hypetrail brain say horny for his biceps 💪
Same here, I just can't stand his dry and bland attitude. Second male character I'm skipping.
