Branford Marsalis: saxophones
Joey Calderazzo: piano
Eric Revis: bass
Jeff "Tain" Watts: drums
The Allmusic review by Matt Collar states "Eternal finds saxophonist Branford Marsalis in a contemplative mood performing a mix of original and standard ballads... dedicated in memory to a list of people one can only assume were as influential musically on Marsalis as emotionally. Among them are bassist Malachi Favors, drummer Elvin Jones, saxophonist Steve Lacy, and the one and only Ray Charles. Their spirits are palpable here as Marsalis and his band have clearly documented a handful of quietly beautiful and deeply moving performances".

Yet another gloomy Sunday of mine! I'm madly in love with this tune!
This album had to get Grammy. And Bradford's " Requiem " too.
Amazing and unique music.
Absolutely mesmerizing! Words can't reach that song's altitude.. Whenever you get gloomy with the state of the world.. Glad found this song on YT again.. Thank you for the upload
Beautiful and Soulful 🎶
Thanks ❤️
Sunday is gloomy
My hours are slumberless
Dearest the shadows
I live with are numberless
Little white flowers
Will never awaken you
Not where the black coach
Of sorrow has taken you
Angels have no thoughts
Of ever returning you
Would they be angry
If I thought of joining you
Gloomy Sunday
Gloomy is Sunday
With shadows I spend it all
My heart and I
Have decided to end it all
Soon there'll be candles
And prayers that are said I know
Let them not weep
Let them know that I'm glad to go
Death is no dream
For in death I'm caressin' you
With the last breath of my soul
I'll be blessin' you
Gloomy Sunday
Dreaming, I was only dreaming
I wake and I find you asleep
In the deep of my heart here
Darling I hope
That my dream never haunted you
My heart is tellin' you
How much I wanted you
Gloomy Sunday
My favourite tune on this absolutely stunning album!
It's next to Kind of Blue (in my opinion)

You are what you eat. You music shows what’s in your heart. 2 bus stops to get up to work to to gently meditating on life. There’s a song for that. The creator of music wants us all to have art to express how we feel. To question music is to question feelings. And that in itself is a very good question.
Here's a concise answer 6 years later, just to get it off my chest.
They make party music, that's it. They're not like Rakim, Paul Simon, Bob Dylan, Sade amongst others that make lyrics and music to sit down and think about it or maybe slow dance. Back in the 80s, you had Hip-Hop groups that didn't say anything, but they were like "throw you hands in the air, like today you just don't care". Party music is made to really just take your mind off of things and let a little bit of mental numbness take over. It's targetted to youth as well, cats that are generally speaking, much more interested in having fun than in substancial music. Nonetheless, this could be summarized as: them cats make music for profit and discos. Not my cup of tea either, and I used to treat them with disdain too, but once you understand the demographic, it makes sense.
