This is musical perfection. I've seen them all, and hundreds of dead shows, no other band played live to such perfection. They saved it for the studio & live was always a mess. Not the dead. A top 5 version of Eyes, perhaps a top 3. Let's hope Branford makes a surprise appearance in Santa Clara or Chicago, he and Hornsby together would be awesome on this song.
This is the first Grateful Dead I ever pressed play on. A mere 10 years old went into a house after a previous tenant moved to find a beautifully cleaned house and a without a net cassette box set in the middle of the living room. I went home and put one of the tapes in and it was qued to this. Life changing. Here it is 30+ years later and it still hits all those spots. Go and pet your dog and give your dad a high five, call your brother or you sister and let em know that you're alive.
What a wonderful night... takes me back to my youth. How I miss my friend, my good brother. Little did I know many years later that this would have been the last show I shared with Rich Peace with a R Pearce.
As a zen master passed the baton to his disciple he said, “The esoteric teachings cannot be expressed except through art. Do your best. Do your best.” And here it is at its best. Expression & exploration of POSSIBILITY.
Listened to this today for the first time in a long time. Every single note of this is magic, but when Brent kicks in those harmonies? Next level goosebumps.
I was at the show too. The whole second set with Brandford was amazing. This version of Eyes was great, that is why this was on the album/CD Without A Net. Thanx for posting this.
This is off the planet beautiful. Thanks Jerry we love and miss you. Thanks too to Phil, Bruce, Bob x 2, Mickey and Bill. And you most esteemed man whose name I dont know for your wonderful wonderful sax. The two of you must have had fun. Miss you Jerry
I was starting a family and was very distracted and was not particularly fond of Wake of the Flood...................but THIS tune was another story. Loved where The Dead took this !
It isn't surprising to me that Jerry and Branford could have a meaningful musical conversation. Both have been doing this their whole lives. Their spontaneous intertwined solo at the end could be a masterclass lesson in harmony.
Eyes was a song that came from the heart, was transcendent, could transport one to another dimension. I had an out of body experience listening to this song in the Oakland coliseum.....halloween '92 I think. A truly transformative & peak moment in my life.
Without a net is a very special album. I found out years later that the Help>Slip was from Nassau also. I made it to that one. This entire spring tour was the best the Dead ever sounded.

I was there at the age of 20!
Branford finds paths and textures in this song no one else even knows are there.
Man Robert Hunter can write some fine tunes
Wake now to discover this version of eyes with Branford and Jerry on tiger at Nassau over and over again. Pure happiness and love
Eyes will forever be my favorite song and this will forever be my favorite version
Nassau Coliseum.....good times and great shows!!!! Was there for that Run.
What a wonderful night... takes me back to my youth. How I miss my friend, my good brother. Little did I know many years later that this would have been the last show I shared with Rich Peace with a R Pearce.
Yes, this is the best version for sure. We used to sit on the beach watching the sunset with this. I've heard so many other shows, but this is it.
When the art and the artist become indivisible.... unsurpassed.
Discovered this sweet jam about 10 years and has accompanied me on long drives that were taken during rough times in my life. It grounds my soul.
What an amazing organic performance, omg. This is my most favourite 17mins of music ever.
My absolute favorite dead song I with ripple a close second..
I would play on the trekking trail in Nepal… it put me in a very loving mood⚡️⚡️⚡️🌹❤️
My heart Chakra busts out of my chest every time I hear this song!
Bransford was magical when he played with the dead. stepped the songs up 2 notches
A Classic...
What a night! One of my favorites of all times.
I soooooooooooooo miss this...
Let me say again: the greatest eyes ever played. Pure magic.
As a zen master passed the baton to his disciple he said, “The esoteric teachings cannot be expressed except through art. Do your best. Do your best.”
And here it is at its best. Expression & exploration of POSSIBILITY.
Astounding. The Dead never fail to bring me to joy and happiness. Thank you guys xxx
My favorite song by my favorite band. Eyes has the most amazing versions out of any dead song in my opinion.
So nice to read all the accolades while listening to this amazing version and eye due 2nd that emotion!
The single greatest guest appearance of one artist with another group or artist that I have ever heard. Absolutely spectacular and SMOOTH!!!
The very best of a great 1990 run......
Listened to this today for the first time in a long time. Every single note of this is magic, but when Brent kicks in those harmonies? Next level goosebumps.
One of my best shows and the next night was pretty amazing, too. Miss you so much Jerry.
I was at the show too. The whole second set with Brandford was amazing. This version of Eyes was great, that is why this was on the album/CD Without A Net. Thanx for posting this.
Had no ungodly idea that there was video of this, the literal song that made me a deadhead. This is the shit
2 things make me happy when stressed.. this and my dog
Some of the best music, ever! So pleasant and flowing!
I was starting a family and was very distracted and was not particularly fond of Wake of the Flood...................but THIS tune was another story. Loved where The Dead took this !
Such an uplifting song
It isn't surprising to me that Jerry and Branford could have a meaningful musical conversation. Both have been doing this their whole lives. Their spontaneous intertwined solo at the end could be a masterclass lesson in harmony.
one of the best runs ever...on floor next to board by tapers... i wanted a copy stat!!! smokin evening!!!
thank you jerry and brandford111
i get goosebumps everytime i hear this tune.
Phil on the Klein. The best sounding bass of all time.
Dropping bombs. Love it.
Stunning! How has this been missing from my life until now? Reminds me of when I found Box of Rain.
One of my favorite versions of this song.
Wow, thanks so much I must have listened to this a thousand times but have never seen the video before.
Was at this show, thank God! It was mind blowing/ alternating!!!
Thank you Jerry so much
It's all here.... ⚡️🌹⚡️ such delicate savagery. Grateful to have my #lucky13 shows #NFA 90
My Brother recommended this song when we were vacationing at the Jersey Shore 3 years ago...The collaboration with The Dead and Branford was written up in Rolling Stone as a must listen too...I INSTANTLY became a Dead Fan and this song version became one of my ALL TIME FAVORITES...
Happy Thanksgiving to all you Dear Ones. I'm giving thanks for the past and given the opportunity to be free in life and to have had a Bus to live in. I'm very blessed to have such a gifted life. Giving and receiving !
Happy Thanksgiving!
Very Grateful.
I am so much in love with this. I have no words to express or explain. Just makes me so loved and lived and connected. Thank you so much for this experience
