This dude is just what that shop deserved. Goes out and gets a haircut while running errands for douchebag Duane and gets the wrong stuff...I love this guy!
Sad, once Dwayne was hired, everything started to go downhill for Coddington. Call it as you will, but, there is only one consistent thing with all of their issues - Dwayne.
Was it always like that or did things change when Discovery/TLC showed up and then created "characters". If you watch the pilot episode nobody was the d-bag they were after the first season.
Unless the home Depot is directly across the street there's no way that you're driving there getting three quarter inch ply and lunch for everybody in 20 minutes
don’t ever let your employer disrespect you, if you let him do it once you’ll continue to do it. take pride in yourself and if others can’t see your value go somewhere they can.
Figures. Why would he give a shit I really got to give him credit. I heard intern pay to work there and he ain't taking any bullshit 😂😂😂😂. I wouldn't hire him but it's funny he's got Boyd and Duane riled up. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
"You've been gone for over an hour!" Go to Home Depot and get 3/4 Inch Plywood. Then get lunch. Should take you 20 minutes. Well, let's see. You gotta drive to Home Depot. You gotta get the Plywood. You gotta wait in line to pay for it. You gotta load it and secure it. You gotta drive to Micky D's. You gotta plan what you're going to purchase. You have to wait in line to order it. You have to wait for the folks to make it. You gotta drive back. I can see that taking at least an hour, maybe an hour and a half depending on traffic.
I had something similar happen to me. chef engineer sends me to get Chinese food at the mall on a Friday at around 6pm when everyone is at the mall with there family and a punch of kids wanting the samething. Fought traffic, had to park way out at the end of the parking lot, walk, wait in line for 25mins, order, walk back to my car, fight traffic AGAIN, park at work, and come into the engineer shop just hear the chief engineer complain about how long I took. It did not bother me because I took special care on his food 😉, because I knew he was going to yell at me for going to get his dinner and him being an asshole. Always take special care of assholes lunch or dinner
Whether he's cut out for the job really isn't the most pressing issue. It's a matter of decency and common courtesy, and as an employer myself, I would never treat another human being like that. "I'm sorry, I don't think this work is for you" goes a long way. As opposed to subjecting someone to juvenile grade ridicule, and openly berating someone in front of other people. Everyone has deficiencies, noone is exempt and in life, it all comes back around!
He says you've been gone for an hour did you see the amount of McDonald's that he was bringing back my God just going to McDonald's getting that much food is going to take like 30 minutes
I worked with a guy that did the same thing, I sent him out to deliver parts and he stopped got a haircut and when I started asking him questions he just laughed
You know of internships that are paid? Where? That is the whole point of being an intern. You get on the job training at no cost to you or the employer. If the person is being paid that is an apprenticeship.
My second shop when I new. My shop manager told me to clock out and get lunch for everyone. I said. “ I fly you buy”? I got this pissed off look and was told “Fuck No!” I laughed and said. “ It does not work that way. My shop at the time would con guys to clock out and get lunch then the favorites would wait till the food showed up then clocked out. The poor guy used his own lunch to get food and had to eat it on the job…
If someone knew you should’ve wrote it down big letters printed and since he brought back the wrong size plywood after he takes his lunch send it back with the plywood and get the right size simple and then fire him
I'm going back to my house to get my Glock and an AK-47. I'll use them to say Thank You for the warm reception and commom courtesy you've shown me the first hour of my internship.
This shop was run like a concentration camp. Coddington may have known about car design, but he knew nothing about managing people. It was clear from watching even a few episodes that he cared nothing about his workers and you could see that he was feared and hated. Duane was the perfect foil for Coddington's inept management style. He was cruel and uncaring. He had the personality of a snake. For comparison, take a look at Chip Foose's pleasant interaction with his workers. Also Dave Kindig has a great personal style with his employees. Both shops have some long-term employees, unlike Coddington, who goes through workers like popcorn. I got to where I couldn't watch the show any more.
Boyd is dead and who knows where dwayne is.. I think this is the reason most people left there just a bad place to work from what i seen of the show years ago..
Yea I would be kinda pissed too at this guy, I would have fired him on the spot when he said he got a haircut when all he was supposed to do was go get lunch and come back.
Gets plywood at Home Depot then goes to McD's to get lunch for the crew only to return for an ass chewing because he was gone for an hour. Next time, run your own errands and let's see how long it takes you.

Slave is involuntary, intern isnt.

Imagine taking a car from them knowing it was built with the abuse of all the staff.

One of the funniest episodes. This scene had me laughing the whole time.
Wont Home Depot want dimensions of the three-quarter inch plywood?
