I'm convinced someone at Fromsoft accidentally shredded the note asking about melee build balancing. So they designed Malenia entirely around mage builds and released the game. To this day they won't admit their mistake :p

so here's some interesting little tidbits about how status works every time you proc status on an enemy their resistance to that status increases, this is especially inconvenient on bleed as it doesn't have a secondary effect like poison or frostbite do, however some status effects like frostbite and bleed can stagger enemies out of any attack, like for example malenia's waterfowl dance, frostbite however is unique as it's resistance build-up can be reset by simply hitting the enemy with fire damage, doesn't matter how much damage, just has to be fire, even a dinky little fire bomb will do, frost pots in particular are also unique among the status pots as they ignore inherent resistance and will always instantly proc frost on the first use, no matter what good job on beating her without them lol
It’s just being at different distances at different times throws me off especially if I get hit by the first part. But all my talismans optimize my attack power with ashes of war with physical defense. Where do you get giant hunt from?
@@JY_TheKaiGiant Hunt is kinda gimmicky, imo, but I love fighting her with spinning slash on a Nagakiba. Huge damage, stuns her for all three hits, and you can stop after the first spin if she jumps up in the air. I always have Dragoncrest Greatshield Talisman on for the massive 20% damage reduction and I’ll eat some boiled crab to add another 15%. I like the turtle talisman for the stamina regen, erdtree’s favor +2 boosts hp, stamina, and equip load, and there are a ton of great flask tears that boost damage, boost defense (opaline), or the auto-heal when near death are some if my favorites.

As hard as she is, i actually thinks she is more fun than margit. Theoretically i imagine dodging margit is harder to grasp and understand than dodging waterfowl. Waterfowl can be learned quickly by looking at how others dodge and by experimenting. Eg. i saw others do the circling around her to dodge, but after trying things i find u-turning (walk 6oclock-wards then dodgle 12oclock wards) to be more easy - simple; but with margit ive listened to someone explaining his pattern and it is much harder to understand. Long and complicated. So i think malenia is better than margit
