How was it possible that cars like the Excel and the pony were so popular in enormous countries like canada with the heavy weather conditions? Here in the Netherlands oh yes compact cars like the vw golf.. Corolla civic or excel/pony ford escort opel kadetts those were the popular family cars here because small flat country with smaller streets and parking spaces. But if i think about cars for canada i think about trucks. And suv’s. Or larger wagons. Or big sedans. With strong engines because you would think you need it overthere

The Tempo/Topaz and the Aries/Reliant are small midsize cars. Way out of the Excel's league. The Suzuki Swift is a better competitor for the Excel.
