Made in Germany!! Please don't change! These are expensive but could be the last amp you ever need! And will last a lifetime and cover every tone you need. One of the last of the true built like a tank amps out there. Great review!!
I own the Savage 60 Mark 2 and this is THE MOST comprehensive video I've see on the Savage. Thank you so much! I'll be referencing this next week when my Engl Cabinet comes in. Subbed!
Definitely an amp to take your time reading the manual and actually learning and hearing what this amp does When you get the hang of it It’s a beast! I’m pretty blessed that the old Savage is build pretty easy so you get amazing tones pretty fast Keep on going dude You’re amazing!
Hey Scott, nice to see that you made a very detailed video about this amp. I got this one a year ago and must say that I totally agree about experimenting with microphones on this amp. My first attempt was using an SM57 with a MD421 like I did with the Invaders and the result wasn't as expected. This beast is completely different. Hope to see you again...maybe on Guitar Summit this year?
awesome video. i love my engl savage 60 mkII and it's funny how different our settings are for a achieving a similar type of tone. i'm absolutely going to try this approach.
Appreciate you keeping it real. I ordered up a Savage MKii. Looking to learn from this video too 👍...oh and I just checked out Obscura (never heard of them before) aaand holy crap!!!! Just plain awesome. If they use the Savage, I am all about that tone. Siiiick!
i need this amp. i have never owned an engl amp. own the v30 412 and love their cabs for sure. i need to play more of the amps in general but i feel like this maybe the one for me.
One of my favorite power metal bands, Dream Evil, used this amp in combination with Hughes & Kettner TriAmp MKII, I love the sound in The Book of Heavy Metal album
I remember that album came out when I was in high school. I didn’t like power metal back then… It’s pretty much all I ever listen to nowadays. 80s rock and power metal. But listening to Dream Evil now, their tone really isn’t that great. Their low end is really spongy. I think it needs a boost. I boost almost everything though for that exact reason. It just gives palm mutes a tight attack sound. To each their own though.
I'm just seeing you and this video for the first time. Bro, you are the freaking GOD of High-Gain Metal Tone 🤘🤘🤘. There are too many WEAK, popular RUclips airhead channel celebrities that Dial in their amps at NOON and play Sh@tty 💩sounds from killer Amps. Keep being REAL bro. You're THE GOD OF BRUTAL, CRUSHING PUNISHING TONE 🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘.
Way to generalize RUclips… this guy is good at showing the amp features. But all he does is chug away at the low A. That doesn’t exactly show off the full tonal character of the amp.
Record the Savage with mics!!!! The tone in this video differs dramatically to that of recorded with mics! This amps sounds even better with mics and also is pretty easy to record!
Just bought both fireball and savage mk2 I don't know if I should keep both or return one. 🤔 I believe I love them both in diferent ways but my moneys are tight as fuck
Scott I have some brutal heavy tones I made. And trust me it's very heavy. It's on cake walk and I uploaded it on bandlab. Could u tell me your bandlab and I can send it to u
Hi. I'm curious about the savage. So I ended up buying a revv generator mkiii. I use a boosted channel 3(purple) for rythm and boosted channel 4 (red) for leads. I don't use the second channel because it's the classic crunch channel. I want to buy a savage but I I'm wondering if a boosted channel 3 is good for modern crunch on the savage. Other reviews say channel 3 is quirky and that channel two is like the classic crunch channel or something like that. Thanks
Have you messed with OD pedals in front of this? I’ve been looking for one, have a few in mind(Horizon Precision, KHDK LCFR, Mud Killer, Deadwell Duality) but wondered what OD pedals you think would work well In front of the Savage?
Haven't tried any pedals to be honest, when I plugged in directly it has SO much gain that any pedal in front of it as far as an overdrive would probably make the situation worse, haha. But as far as effects or what you were talking about, definitely test it out! I could probably throw my Grindstein / HM2 into it and see what would happen!
Yeah. Doing it that way allows me to do a softer boost so it's not so shitty sounding. Alternatively you can pick an exceptionally dark microphone. But yep. For IRs I find this to be the best since you can really dig in on the very high, piercing frequencies. Real cab I probably would stop at actually around 10k, depending.
I've used a few ENGLS and they all have the same sort of low end compression that I find overly polished. This is why most metal gear channels seem to prefer modded Marshalls, certain boogies and 5150's because they sound like an untamed animal, raw and aggressive. I also find the 'flavor' of Engls to be dark and dull/flat sounding. So not really my 'king' of amps imo.
Dude, I need this amp! Is it true bypass? Frequency capable? Are the knobs user friendly? Can it get me the famed EVH "negro sound?" Asking for a friend
Scott is still the master of actually explaining how to use amps and get crushing tones.
Exacty. So much better than another 'Here's how it sounds. Here's what the knobs are..." video.

hi. it can give meat high gain punch sound at low volume bro?
That tone is so massive and juicy! I love it. The playing is just as massive and juicy. Amazing video, bro!
Sounds really brutal and amazing! Great presentation Scott!
Time to put that beautiful machine to good use! ❤
Man this amp is so great! Really some raw dark evil tone!
Sweet video! I love the engls!

I love the content of your videos. So glad you play killer heavy riffs when talking about dialing in your tone and eq.
I’m partial to the Fireball myself(my favorite amp of all time), but it’s just hard to beat an Engl, any Engl.
SO SICK!!
My man! \m/
Great demo 🥰
sounds like my Savage Special Edition, love it)
Super cool presentation, dude. It didn't help to get my GAS away, but killer tenx😎🤟
Fantastic review Scott!! 💀🤘 I absolutely LOVE my ENGL Savage 120 Mk 2!!! 💀💀 It's such an incredible amplifier - Chefs' kiss indeed! 🔥

Excellent demo man, you got me thinking about going back to my settings on my original Savage 120
How did it sound? Thinking of getting a mk1 and i’m wondering if i could dial in anything like this
thank you! my savage is so much better now!
Engl is so great man, the powerball Is killer too man!

@@Lenser Oh yeah, you are right! It was the original 120, not the MKII lmao
Thanks!

Great Video, Scott! So when are we getting a studio tour video!?

hi. so Savage 2 is good purchase or Powerball 2 will be better?
Record the Savage with mics!!!! The tone in this video differs dramatically to that of recorded with mics! This amps sounds even better with mics and also is pretty easy to record!
I like the Fireball 100 better than the Savage Mk-II.

Soon good

@@ChernobylAudio666 Thank you!
This amp has some huge cojones, awesome!! #Br00000tal💯💥
So you took 10k out with ProQ then added it back in with a channel strip?
What screen shot?
Yeah I goofed. It's my Captor-X software. It's the ENGL XXL Cab with V30s, SM57.
sounds pretty evil for being angel i mean engl

It's not the negro sound, it's the mexican sound. Jose modded Marshall.
