Great comprehensive demo. You got 3 flagship amps there, going up against each other. Of course they all sound great.
The thing that hit me while watching this video is this: it would be a huge waste of money for me to own all 3 of those amps. Any ONE of them would be all I need. They all do the same thing. They all sounded very close to each other. I really like all the channels on the Stealth, but the ENGL's are built better. The Stealth is also the cheapest of the three.

Cool shootout here bet that was a fun one. What surprised me the most about the founders edition was how 3D the clean channel came across. Alot of versatility and brutality in all of these amps. I'd like to hear it up against the Splawn may be shockingly similar.

The Engls can sound amazing at all volumes. The savage is a very precise definable amp even at higher volumes. The only thing you should carefully dial in is the Prescence and the treble. The savage has lots of that.I dont know how the stealth sounds at all volumes I only heared that beast loud and I dont know hof difficult it is to dial in the sound at that volume level. But I playing the Savage 120 MKII and never had any trouble to dial in the sound I want at high volumes. As mentioned you have to be careful with the Treble and Prescence at high volumes. But thats also a bit depending from the speakers you use.

Okay my feelings about these amps! First all 3 are good sounding but for me what i;m hearing is no.1 is the special edition on all the tones you did! No. 2 is the Savage and last evh. The Special Edition it just's in so clear and full of that rich tone and make you want to hear this more and I WANT ONE! Great job playing that was so much fun to here them.

I think the Special Edition took the prize. The cleans were glassy and so much definition and richness. Crunch was dialed a little thinner than the Savage but more focussed. Stealth was a little more throaty and warm. On the overdriven channel the Special Edition was aggressive with less fizzle than the Savage. The Stealth sounded great but a tiny bit nasal compared to the Special.

Damn dude, choosing is hard. Since you're the guy who actually has all three your opinion would be great. I'm on the verge of a new amp, either the stealth or the savage. The Savage and the SE seem to have a rich upper mid luxuriousness about them that makes them seem a little louder and punchier, that might be more apparent through the video though, maybe they're closer in person. I wonder if the stealth could be tweaked to match that upper mid punch with some tweaks on the front or an eq in the loop for a subtle bump in that high mid region, because I absolutely love that over-the-top aggression of the stealth, but also the richness of the Engl. Some wisdom would be greatly appreciated. Love the vids, you're the man!

The stealth is definitely a very aggressive, brutal amplifier and I love it.
However, if you don't mind spending the money, the SE founder's edition is absolutely amazing
Between the stealth and the savage, I would go with the stealth, more usable channels and it's just so aggressive
Check out my video on the stealth where I talk about the Easter eggs

ENGL SE sounds killer! I prefer the Savage and by some strange reason, the EVH sounded not to the level. Generally, I feel the sound too oversaturated. Will be better to test the amps without OD pedals with less gain, only a SM57 and starting at noon for the EQ. This as a control! Many other youtubers do it in this sense and it gives valuable information as a initial comparison point. Later, the comparison here made is also valid, let´s say, a custom setup.

SE FE for me. More clarity, and best note definition. Plus, it sounds more in your face. The Stealth sounds like it has a blanket over the speakers compared to the SE FE. ENGL!

@@TONEWARSgearshow I have to say, got it yesterday, and damn, this pack sounds amazing =P Great job on this one, also thanks for including DI captures, because the way I have my Tonex set up is, in the loop of my Helix, what I do now is split the signal, XLR goes to front of house with an IR and 1/4" goes to my power amp and Mesa 2x12. You can turn the cabs off on Tonex, but I've noticed that sounds REALLY weird 😂

Top video my good Sir! Thank you for putting in so much effort in these shootouts- even if having to do them twice :)
The Special Edition (SE hereafter) is rather surprising. Clean tones I'd say it's my pick, as it has so much more warmth while retaining the clarity- just what you want in a clean tone. Crunch channel was a bit weedy- didn't quite have enough going on in the lower mids, rather nasal. Crunch gots to have balls for that Akka Dakka sound. Single note lead channel I thought the Savage and the Stealth were going to run away with the game, but holy smokes if the Pull me under riff didn't just jump out on the SE. So much closer to JP's tone than the others, it had that chonky but razor sharp voicing. It would be hard to pick between the Savage and the SE. I still have the Stealth in 3rd here because while it undeniably has the most aggressive gain stack, it comes at a cost of being less dynamic, more 2D and scooped- less character if you will. But damn if you aren't spoilt by fate if you have any of these three.

I used to use the old rack version of the special edition. The lead 1 channel is where the magic stuff lives. Lead 2 is actually darker and a little compressed.
One thing I would say about engl stuff is it drops straight into a mix. A lot of guitarist dont like the crispness especially because it’s very unforgiving. In truth it makes you sound much better especially if you have two guitarists. All three of these amps sound great though .

  • @svenhanke3251
    @svenhanke3251 11 дней назад

I myself have a Savage MK2. As good as this amp sounds on its own, in the mix it unfortunately develops a midrange honk that is simply too much and difficult to control for my taste. Especially when the tracks have been doubled or even quadrupled. When a Fishman Fluence pickup or similar is added, it becomes annoying for my ears. I find it even worse with the Special Edition. The EL34s then add a somewhat “unconcrete” quality to the bass. The Stealth is perhaps not quite as biting at first glance and actually seems “oversaturated” to me in your video, but I think that's a matter of adjustment. Less gain, a suitable boost and speaker and the amp delivers a killer sound. For me, apart from a few exceptions, it's hard to beat. It's not for nothing that a lot of modern metal bands are playing it at the moment. Trivium or Gojira are a good example.

Until you compare it to a late 90s Crate Blue Voodoo........we will never know who is the REAL "high gain titan!" Crate left a mark on the high gain world that has yet to be replicated. Crate set the standard for High Gain definition with huge bottom end and ultra frigid, yet toasty warm, articulate upper to lower mid highs that accentuated the harmonics from 9-52 gauge strings. In order to maximize the Voodoo, you needed Dean Markley Cryogenically frozen strings using the gauges 9-52. IF you detuned you would want 21-98. With a wound G string. My girlfriend's favorite underwear is a "wound g-string." Yeah, Not only do I crush guitar, and have all the hottest gear, I've got an ultra hot woman who uses my old g-strings for "under garments." Yeah........I'm a total bad a$$.
Also I copied your settings of the Special Edition and applied those settings to the Line 6 Ventoux amp in the LIne 6 Helix. Total fail. They sounded nothing alike so your settings aren't "optimal!" I tried with My Helix to get the tones you were getting using your settings and couldn't get close. No matter what amp I tried your settings with. Total Fail.
Let's not mince words: The Special Edition is an amazing amp. As are the Stealth and Savage. But when I can't take your settings and apply them to ANY amp in the Helix and make them work............ the only conclusion I can come up with is "your settings aren't optimal."
    Digital for the win!

If Jarrod was a real player with taste in gear, he would have a Peavey Rage, a Line 6 Spider, and an Ibanez tone blaster. He would also be running a metal zone and DOD Thrashmaster through each. Instead he puts out videos with this Engl garbage. A real metal amp sounds like you’re playing through a 1960s transistor radio that’s been filled with killer bees. Really disappointing, Jarrod.
