    Here a fellow S5iiX owner (and also a S5).
Mine setup is not as wide: i have my SSD mounted at the side directed to the top, thats how it works for me for the best.
To be honest I don't understand why people want the black mamba cage instead of the normal Smallrig cage. It is a lot cheaper and does give a lot more protection to the buttons on the top. But I'm a run-and-gun videographer so perhaps for that i want more protection.
I actually also use the Samsung T7's, but some state they are not good enough for Prores or all Intra. However I just shot several hours all intra in 45+ degrees Celsius in Spain without any problems, so i wonder if that's true. But did wanted to let you know.
And you just got a new subscriber from the Netherlands. Keep up the good work 👍

Another s5iix user👌🏻 I bought my black Mamba cage months back before our camera was even released and got it for 99usd. Big thing for me is the ease of controls as I use this camera for photography as well. I never dropped my S5 and I don't plan on doing that with my s5iix.
The Samsung drives are rated over 1000 MB/s well over the rating of the camera and have a max operating temp of 60c. Spain would be beautiful to shoot.
      I appreciate the sub!

Is the Black Mamba much lighter? Does it have any benefit instead of the normal one?

@@eddiespectral I don't know, the normal version works great for me

@@JoJoOnTheMove You said that you don't understand why people want the black mamba cage instead of the normal Smallrig cage. If you don't tested both, why do you say it?

cool rig. i never thot of mounting the ssd to the side handle.
have u tried recording in those fancy braw/prores formats on the t7/t7 shield?
did u have to upgrade the firmware on the t7?
i hear the black mamba cage has better access to ports than the standard smallrig s5iix cage.
not as crazy about the black mamba tophandle, seems small. but def want that matching hdmi clamp so mite go for the kit.
also the basic smallrig cage comes w nato rail, and i jus feel hesitant w nato rails in general. back in the day horror stories of rigs dropping, vs more secure arri anti twist dual pin mounts.
its too bad both smallrig options have those very lose-able-looking tiny screws that mount to the sides. the dark olive a73 cage did a good job w the vertical locking screw bein permanently attached to the cage.
lovely camera, its only like 1 stop worse than the fx3 indoors in lowlight. for $2k less.
s5iix is a perfect value for money. best stabilization ive ever used, w that 4k60 + estabiliz ~1.6x crop, but smooth as butter. it feels like scifi movie stabe from the future.
full frame, pannys got good enuf glass selection now in full frame. likin my sigma 16-28mm f2.8 so far, for gimmicky car interior/24mm ish shots in 4k60 crop or in FF.
never use af, but worked well when i tested it as a goof.
built in fan means its worth rigging out for big boy filmmaking on peasant budget, hell yeh.
battery life is solid and the neewer 2400mah batteries for $50 work just as well, u get two for half price of one OEM.
recording to external ssd seems exciting.
such a versatile device, friendly menu layouts.
feels like a full frame successor to the gx85 in terms of versatility as a travel/b-cam, that can also totally handle indie filmmaking long takes.
    i just ❤ it, lol

Yeah just because of how i hold this camera, i find with the handle on top seems to work out better for me.
I pretty much shoot everything ProRES to my T7's i bought 2 and on max bitrate.. man you can fill them up so fast. I shot 2 TB of footage over the last weekend. What i love is editing straight from them, such a time saver for me. Yeah when i got them i updated them both.
Tbh, i dont use my top handle much, once i get a screen i'll use it more but i only use it for hand shoots tbh where im trying to pan fast and get close to something.
Thats a big reason why i went with the BM, its sleek and everything is screw vs clamp.
I havnt had issues with the clamps coming loose but thanks for the info, i ll check mine and let you know.
So many people complain about 4k Crop but its only select modes and at times i actually love the crop.
One of the feature i absolutely love on this thing as well.. LIVE STREAMING!
What got me to Lumix, the fact i dont need a gimbal for 99% of the things i shoot.
My S5 has become my Photo cam, my s5iix is my main.

yeh, u can def fill up those ssds/sds shooting 4k over the weekend😂 its addicting.
i ordered the black mamba cage, and its pretty good, but wanted to ask if u use the included, proprietary hdmi + usbc cable clamp.
i usually like the smallrig hdmi clamps (from a73, fx3 full cages)
but adding the usbc clamp , on the black mamba cage, find it really difficult to get both the hdmi and the usbc flush against the clamp,
and add/removing the usbc cable in particular w the clamp on, is sooo difficult.
like i gotta flip it and use gravity, and its harder w the sidehandle attached.
probs good if u keep the camera in the cage forever, but i add/remove for carmount stuff.
maybe theres a trick to using it.
or i shud jus forget about it, as the fullsize hdmi and usbc connections are reasonably firm.
also wanted to ask what usbc cable u use/if u like it?
tried the kondor blue 8 and 12" options w right angle but theyre super stiff, feels like it adds pressure to the usbc port.
so am using the included t7 shield usbc with excess cable wrapped on a kondor blue mondo tie (attached on the edge of the ssd holder's 1/4-20" thread).
would be good to have a backup tho/something longer for mounting to the side handle

@@Kevlexicon Yeah, i use to take my Camera in and out of the Cage but now its there for good. I just adapt the cage to where i mount it.
I dont use my HDMI clip much unless im out shooting a client gig. even then i get what you mean with how its finnicky to use.
As for the USB C i use a SABRENT Thunderbolt 3 cable i purchased off Amazon. its a 40Gbps cable and works like a charm. Only thing is if you are mounting your SSD to the opposite side of the cage it may not reach as its only 20cm long.

@@JozzieProductionsah, thanks for responding again, dude.
yahh, thats good to kno u dont use the cable clamp as much. more i use the cage, more am leanin that way too
yeh luckily the mamba cage is light so am able to get away w mounting it to suction mounts for the car without bein overweight. so turned out to be a nonissue.
actually mounts better mounting to the cage than straight to the camera body, as the female thread for the cage goes deeper. lovely.
thanks for the tip on the cable. bhphoto recommended the angebird usbc cable, and it works fine. i am using the 1.6ft version, cable connects to kondor blue t5 ssd holder, holding the t7 shield (tight fit, but works).
mounting the kondor ssd holder to the cold shoe of the niceyrig 15mm single rod clamp, so it gets the ssd off the top of the cage.
it just barely fits, using 9inch 15mm rods, w the camera cage then the niceyrig clamp then the smallrig adjustable arm battery plate.
but perfectly reliable, perfect cable length, nothing in the way when am rigged up on a tripod.
      good stuff.
now shud be able to shoot 4k24 for several hours using the 98wh vmount to power the camera + atomos , and the 2tb t7 shield.
not bad at all. reasonably low profile indie filmmaker vibes. super excited to actually shoot something real with it, lol

@@Kevlexicon That's what i'm about, The low profile setup i have seems to work. I connect my side handle when i use my SSD. The first cable i used the T7 cable.. it was too long, i had to wrap it around the handle arm a few times so i wanted shorter.
