...CHRIS JASPER ..YOU HAVE ALWAYS BEEN MY FAVORITE (KEYBOARDS) ! ..."GO ALL THE WAY." ..WAS MY FAVORITE NO. #1 ALBUM !!! .."WINNERS TAKE ALL." NO.#2 !
DITTO, AMEN!!!
As a teenager I got to go to a Isley's brother's concert in the summer of 1978 seeing Chris playing them keyboards wearing a maxie coat that concert was along with undisputed truth and parliament the mother ship connection with George Clinton was an unforgettable experience! and im just glad that I was alive back then because we had the baddest music of all time black Americans .
Wow! 🏆💯🎵 Thank you for bringing us Chris Jasper's amazing, prolific talent and long musical career that was deservedly recognized by the R&R Hall of Fame! So great to learn about his very real influence on the funk soul music of the 70s Isley Bros. He is a solid talent, a heavyweight. Great songwriting and soulful voice. Scott, thank you for helping us learn about this important band and how things went down 💯🤩❤️
I wish those guys could do something together one more time as a great fan
Me too, but I doubt it.
With the recent death of Rudolph that leaves three but those are the main ones you have the voice in ron Isley the guitar player in Ernie Isley and the principal song writer in Chris jasper let’s get it done
Great Job! The host gave Chris the latitude to express himself and complete his thoughts without interrupting him. This was a quality interview, very insightful.
Winner Takes it All is a MASTERPIECE lp.
Thanks for the truth I love you. You are the cream of the crop. You wrote all of the baby making music and such a humble man. Waiting for you to score a movie brother. Much love and peace.class act.
One of my favorite songs was "Highways of My Life". The piano intro by Chris is one of the most beautiful pieces of music ever recorded. And it's been sampled by others.
Good call!
The Real Deal (1982) was a good album !!! “It’s Alright” was a great hit the rhythm arrangements you can tell was written by Chris Jasper !!!
Dont Hold Back was the jam.
Great interview on a very talented multi instrumentalist and songwriter, respect
Njoyed interview. Isley Brothers is my #1 group. It was good to really find out how they created that good music. Sad about the group's separation. The music is just so good. Vocals and the Instrumentals. Love it !
Thanks for feedback. They were so great.
They were creative in their own merit and each member had their own style of singing. Great interview.
Great video coverage Great interview Chris Jasper... wow! Very informative and knowledgeable 🎵🎶🎶🎹🎤
LOVED ISLEY JASPER ISLEY
I always envisioned the Isley Brothers having a lot of fun recording all of those hits.
Chris you have always been a great keyboard player you influenced me to play keyboard I can remember being a little boy with my Juno 106 trying to play your licks LOL keep on making music
ABSOLUTELY HANDS DOWN…Mr. Jasper has ALWAYS been one of my Top Two ALL TIME favorite soul/funk keyboardist! My favorite I.B cuts are…
- Liquid Love
- Be With You
- Go For Your Guns (ENTIRE
Album)
- Live It Up
- Fight The Power
- That Lady
- Go All The Way
- It’s Your Thang
- Layaway
- Move Over and Let Me Dance
Great choices!
@@FunknstuffNet Ain’t no funk like Isley Brothers funk!!! But I feel like I left off some other deeper cuts off my list, help PLEASES???
wow, and from a fans point of view i always thought Ronald convinced Chris to open up and start singing to show off his vocals.
I found it fascinating how Jasper actually guided some of Ronald's distinctive vocal stylings.
yeah that stunned me too, you would've thought Ron already had that down. just goes to show that Chris is a baaad dude!
THE ISLEYS BROTHERS MR RONALD MR ERNIE & RUDOLPH ISLEY NEED TO REACH OUT TO THERE BROTHER IN LAW & MR CHRIS JASPER & SHOWS SOME LOVE TO HIN& REUNITE TOGETHER & DO ONE LAST ALBUM FOR THE MANY DIE HARD FANS OF BOTH GROUPS( THE ISLEY BROTHERS & ISLEY JASPER ISLEY) & ONE THING IVE LEARNED THIS LIFE IS VERY SHORT. IN MY OPINION IM JUST SAYING PEACE
I Believe Him Ron Isley Something Else.Poor Angelia Winbrush I Loved Her
Chris’ resentment is obvious, however in some cases, probably justified.
following Kelly’s death and Rudolph’s retirement to go into the ministry, Ronnie lured Ernie and Marvin away from Isley Jasper and Isley without Chris’ knowledge to “reform” the Isley Brothers.
this hurt and bothered Chris drastically.
i remember Chris talking about this in an interview on Video Soul.
I can play Let's fall in love from the Winner takes all album on the piano.
🎹🎹🎹 Chris Jasper Form Blewfoot.....
The interviewer got it wrong for me. Winner Takes All and Go All The Way were outstanding LPs in my opinion.
I like them too, especially Winner Takes All, but as a two record set I didn't love everything on it. Go All the Way was better on the mellow content because the funk tracks were not at the same level as peak Isleys funk.
here’s how i rank the Isley Brothers’ classic albums in the 3 + 3 era:
1. The Heat Is On
2. Live It Up
3. 3+3
4. Showdown
5. Go For Your Guns
6. Winner Takes All
7. Go All The Way
8. Between The Sheets
9. Grand Slam
10.Inside You
Well we both agree Inside Love is weakest 😃 GFYG is my No. 1.
@@FunknstuffNet …but i think “Inside You” is better than “The Real Deal”.
I dig that one, title track, Are You With Me (my longtime ringtone) and Under the Influence 🤘
Wow, talk about 'spilling the tea'. While I don't question Mr. Jasper's musical skills or contributions to the 3+3-era Isley Brothers, its clear he that he still harbors some deep rooted resentment towards the older brothers being the 'faces of the group'...Ronald in particular. Its also apparent that he really REALLY wanted sing lead in the group, but the elder Isleys weren't having it. The 'I deserve' issues are very apparent as well(see Jasper's comments at around 10:45 when he talks about how when he would sing lead at Isley's Brothers concerts the fans would 'go crazy'...hmmm. Not a good look IMHO, as many people view successful and famous musicians as being overly arrogant and self-absorbed anyway. Nevertheless, I appreciate the transparency and I appreciate this revealing FUNKNSTUFF interview, and for letting Mr. Jasper tell it as he feels it needs to be told. #justsaying
@Richard werkNprog Hall Ronnie lured his 2 younger brothers away from Isley Jasper and Isley to reform the Isley Brothers following the death of Kelly and retirement of Rudolph. and it was done without ever approaching Chris. i believe this bothers Chris to this day.
Ronald didnt lure Ernie and Marvin back, Ernie quite IJI and Marvin followed Ernie
GOT 2 B A GAME
WHO KNEŴ ?.
Why didn’t he attend Rudolph’s funeral
I know Chris Jasper is a gifted & talented guy, but he began to vent & rant to the point that he became annoying to the host and myself. He didn't give the older Isleys any credit for having any talent at all. That goes for Ronald also, we all know with his voice alone, he is one of the greatest vocalist of all time. He even had the audacity to say he was more soulful than Mr. Isley. C'mon man, u sound bitter. So sad!
Chris is a very fine keyboards player, multi instrumentalist, songwriter and producer. However, in my humble opinion, based on the songs he's sung so far, he is no Ronnie Isley, Michael Macdonald or Frankie Beverley, if truth be told.
I go back to Twist and Shout all the 70s releases...I was a Radio DJ in the 80s...Between the Sheets Lp was Massive...Loved the Caravan of Love...Beautiful title...Got lots of good Pussy to Isley Bros...Smooth Sailing...Come my way...hear you say...its alright ...that joint...Ballad for a Fallen Soldier...the Guitar...all favorites...Bless Yall..This is A Great American Family...PS...Talk about Jimi...
You can say what you want about Chris jasper, but the hits you know of today, from the past, wouldn't have existed, without his written, and engineering. They could have made more hits, with jasper as a co lead singer. Most successful groups, had 2 singers.the 3 older guys, especially Ronald, was probably threatened Chris, tge knowledge of ernie and Marvin, because the 3 younger guys, could read music.
