It's been a year and 6 months since I have been learning guitar. And this is coming from a man who never ever played or picked up a guitar.. I started learning by RUclips video from different people, but when I viewed Matt from Country Song Teacher, for the first time, I was hooked. He made it looked simple, and know what, it was and is... Now I can play any song, which was my goal from the beginning... .if you want to learn how to play one day, THIS IS THE MAN TO LEARN FROM...
    MATT.... GREAT JOB MY FRIEND....

Matt your a blessing to alot of people you should be very proud of yourself. I am 44 years old and I'm recovering from open heart surgery and I'm doing my bucket list. I've always wanted to learn to play guitar and just couldn't get it but now I know the c,a,em,g,and d chords I can play broken halo by Chris Stapleton. Please put a video on my cousin's songs Brent Cobb. It would be great if I could learn his stuff. That way when I showed up to see him I could play guitars with him

Just started and this is great at 61 (62 on Sunday) Fingers are fumbling and apart from wanting to turn Beethoven music into country songs overnight; I have to content myself on a guitar with the compulsory stabilisers lol.. I will order your book and hopefully on the Emerald Isle I shall be strumming a few songs comfortably next year.. Every blessing and thank you for the teaching. It is pretty awesome!

Hey @CountrySongTeacher just wanted to shout out and say youve been a big help to many of us beginners in the Country genre. One thing that i feel would help us out is a bit more detail on the strums in conjunction with the chord changes. On Broken Halos here for example, you explain the stay on each chord for a two count...then go into a full speed strum "pattern/timing"...makes it difficult for novices to know that on G G C D it should be D D Du D or whatever it works out to be. Sry to be long winded...but that would be most helpful

So about 15 -20 years ago I started to learn how to play guitar with the standard g, c, d, em. I was just getting started and was alright, but because I was using my mom's guitar and was moving out and couldn't afford one. So I lost it. Now I stumbled on to your channel and man it's so easy too learn. Thank you very much buddy. And God bless ya.

Another great lesson Matt... The strumming on this song was daunting for me until you broke it down into the 2 part rhythm way of doing it instead of a choppy up/down/up etc pattern. Chris Stapleton and this song is one of my favorites and the easy chords made it tempting for me to try as a newbie. I still struggle with the singing and playing because I'm doing exactly what you were saying, breaking the chords changes up to fit the lyrics of the song rather than your way of playing to a rhythm & singing separately. I think I'll probably just concentrate on playing and strumming without a pick until I get this one into muscle memory... but as a 70 years old newbie, muscle memory takes me a while. Thanks again Matt, your lessons and teaching methods that are keyed to new guitar players are really helping me!

I may never become perfect, but I'm progressing & having fun at getting better.

Matt just giving my feedback I absolutely love your videos ! But I have a suggestion. I love that you stress timing and not strumming patterns because it is the reason I learned to play. However if you could go into strumming patterns for once we learn to play with timing it would help me a ton ! But either way your videos are amazing !

there is a part right before the "don't go lookin' for the answers" line where he plays a bar chord (this is where you hear a slide up on the bass as well, my fav chord ) also, once you capo fret 5+ C, F, E, Em,A, Am, and various bar chords are progressively harder and harder to play (usually only G and D work from my experience, good luck tho) and i'll edit this if i'm wrong haha
