Stanley's genius was augmented by his capacity to get the best crew and actors and get the best creative output from them. The perfect control freak navigating to perfection.

Peter Sellers, Slim Pickings and Stirling Hayden’s best ever film and an all time film classic for me, quite brilliant! A great debut by James Earl Jones too as well as many other gifted actors who played supporting roles so, so well ! Stanley Kubrick‘s genius throughout is masterfully evident! Gaaaaarrrrd it was sooooooo goooooood!

My Brother-in-Law had been an Electronics Tech in the Air Force who worked on the B-52 in the late 50's early 60s who watched that movie with me when it first aired it on tv because he wanted to see how much they got right and he said" Yeah, that's a B-52 cockpit. They have some things covered up and some numbers wrong on the dials; but I'll never tell."

The makers of this doc attribute the character of Strangelove to Fritz Lang's early work, but I think the movie "Dr. No" was more influential. It went into release while "Strangelove" was being filmed, it was a gigantic hit, the production designer was also Ken Adam, and it dealt with an evil genius with mechanical hands.

Apart from being a brilliant satire, we should perhaps also appreciate Dr. Strangelove being the first attempt outside documentaries and army movies to a more realistic depiction of procedures involving nuclear warfare (ok, maybe not the bomb riding part). Another movie with comedic elements, which is nevertheless realistic at times, would be 'War Games' (first scene in nuclear bunker for example).

War Games was also responsible for kick starting the home computer revolution!

Turgidson, a name fitting for the guy obsessed with sex. Turgid is the word you'd use to describe an erect penis.

Rumour has it, Peter was supposed to play an alien in 2001: A Space Odyssey. The alien looked like a horn-helmeted Viking, but sounded like Queen Victoria! Reportedly was too close to the truth.

Maybe its due to the moisture in the artic region compared to high altitude flight? The early spy sat experiements were unpresurised and had the same problems with the film disintgrating.
