Humans CAN absorb monster souls, but only if they from a very particular kind of monster called "Boss monsters". Like Asgore. That's why Frisk can absorb his soul to pass through the barrier

So I don’t think those are napstablook’s tears on the ground, I think they are Flowey’s petals. He is shown to be missing a few, and it makes sense that they fluttered to the ground

Okay. Hear me out. The artifact wasn't just some random orb. It was a prison. It contained something dark. Twisted. Evil. REDACTED. The parasite. Once it breaks free after everyone leaves the underground, it begins to absorb all the monsters. The most notable ones appear in its outward appearence. Once all are consumed, it kind of looks like this, but with these differences: No bow. I know it's supposed to represent monster kid, but that isn't a bow that he has, those are his horns. So, the parasite has these horns too. Frisk isn't involved as humans can't be absorbed. The arm that holds the flower is one of normal mettatons arms, holding a royal guard sword. It has petals around its face to represent flowey. A cat tail because of mad mew mew. A top hat for nabstablook. Scars on its face because of gaster. Glasses for alphys. A temmie face. During the fight, it uses attacks from every single enemy. By using the ACT "free", you can remove one monster every turn, preventing that monsters attacks from turning up again. Every so often, a special characters attacks are used, allowing you to free them. That will then remove that characters features from the parasites appearence. Once all are freed, use the artifact to seal it once more, ending the fight. EDIT: it would also have dog ears for the annoying dog and the sleeveless jacket thing (don't know the english name) for so sorry. Additionally, it has a rare chance to use an attack where spades fly across the screen. Using "free" after that attack prompts the text "you feel like you just returned someone to their original world". This means that the parasite also absorbed lancer, but because it's tied to the undertale world, it was pulled back before it could absorb anyone else.
Everyone should have noticed that flowey seems very dead. Edit: actually it's probably not flowey. Edit 2: I'm not sure if it's flowey or not because the colours are inverted, but flowey is dead and something might have happened to flowey when he died.

Okay. Hear me out.
The artifact wasn't just some random orb. It was a prison. It contained something dark. Twisted. Evil. REDACTED. The parasite. Once it breaks free after everyone leaves the underground, it begins to absorb all the monsters. The most notable ones appear in its outward appearence. Once all are consumed, it kind of looks like this, but with these differences:
No bow. I know it's supposed to represent monster kid, but that isn't a bow that he has, those are his horns. So, the parasite has these horns too.
Frisk isn't involved as humans can't be absorbed.
The arm that holds the flower is one of normal mettatons arms, holding a royal guard sword.
It has petals around its face to represent flowey.
A cat tail because of mad mew mew.
A top hat for nabstablook.
Scars on its face because of gaster.
Glasses for alphys.
A temmie face.
During the fight, it uses attacks from every single enemy. By using the ACT "free", you can remove one monster every turn, preventing that monsters attacks from turning up again. Every so often, a special characters attacks are used, allowing you to free them. That will then remove that characters features from the parasites appearence. Once all are freed, use the artifact to seal it once more, ending the fight.
EDIT: it would also have dog ears for the annoying dog and the sleeveless jacket thing (don't know the english name) for so sorry.
Additionally, it has a rare chance to use an attack where spades fly across the screen. Using "free" after that attack prompts the text "you feel like you just returned someone to their original world". This means that the parasite also absorbed lancer, but because it's tied to the undertale world, it was pulled back before it could absorb anyone else.
