Mitch has said he suffers for anxiety also, it must take a lot for him to do what he does.
We get this gift because of Mitch's friends, Scott and Christie and the others around them. Mitch was so shy and self conscious, without his friends he would not have reached out to share this gift with us. Even on the Sing Off you see them grab him and drag him forward while everyone applauds. When they compliment him Scott puts his mouth next to Mitch's ear and whispers "See? I told you."
Now he is confident, bold and sassy even. He is proud and unafraid to be the "different" that he is. I'm glad we got to see him mature into this amazing creature with the singularly entrancing voice.
To have watched that growth, friendship and transformation has been just wonderful. He really is "sassy" and I love it!
Scott and Kirsty are Mitch’s biggest fans. Scott is a great singer but he’s also a wonderful, goofball, joyous human who spreads joy.

I so agree with you, Matt. How can a voice be this pure, haunting and beautiful? If I sang like this, I would never stop - I would sing from the minute I woke up until the moment my head hit the pillow! He is just a unique and beautiful, once-in-a generation talent. I know a lot of people would argue that Dimash has the best voice in the world and technically he is extraordinary but his voice doesn't move me like Mitch's does.
I soooo agree. Dimash is unique with his gifts. He has an amazing talent. Mitch, though, touches me, grabs me, effects me, makes me cry...he holds my heart in his hands whenever he sings. No other singer/person touches me like he does. I ache with so many emotions whenever he opens his mouth to sing. I am so grateful for him; for his other-worldly voice and talent. He is such an intimate singer. He makes you feel as though he’s just singing to you when he sings. And that’s meaningful to me because I am an Introvert too. I’ve been singing for people all my life and it’s tough when you’re desperate to sing and express yourself, but you can panic around too many people (say, over three!), and you waste so much time and energy believing that you suck at what you love to do more than anything else in the world. Anyway, I would love to meet Mitch and hear him sing away from the crowds, just for me. I would love to talk with him about so many things like music, and how we came to be who we are. Just everything. But I would give up food, water, sleep and even conversation, just to sit in the shadows of an empty hall and listen to him sing.
This song didn't impress me when Billie released it, but when I heard Mitch's rendition it tore my heart.
I love Billie's original - but the snake in the video was too distracting. And Mitch made a couple of word alterations which I don't understand. Mitch's voice is one in a million and I love hearing him sing. And his arrangement of this song, with the piano and orchestral parts is just brilliant. I'd never heard of her before I saw this video, then I went to check out the original and now I've watched a few covers of her work (the Bass Gang does some awesome things with her work, and so does VoicePlay). She writes some amazing stuff, her and her brother.

Wow! Everything you said about this performance and Mitch himself was exactly how i feel but couldnt articulate it properly. The song was already beautiful when Billy Eilish sang it but he just took it up a notch the way only he can. They covered another of her songs "When The Party's Over" as well, i think you would enjoy that one. Thankyou Matt, i really enjoyed that reaction.
This was the first song I ever heard Mitch sing, and I was instantly struck by a sense of absolute wonder that a human voice could be so pure and so beautiful, and then... I've always believed that music heals, but I never knew the healing could be so profound. "Your Power" was already a song I could relate to strongly, in that the exact circumstances weren't the same but the emotions certainly were, but to hear it sung in that angelic voice was like a message from heaven. I cry every time I listen.
Well said! Mitch always sings with such passion and the pureness of his voice is like no other. There will never be another who can grab my heart and emote such strong feelings as Mitch when he sings. I am so glad that I came across PTX when I did about 9 years ago, and have been able to be blessed by PTX and in particular this man and his music. I agree there will be no one with a voice as pure in my lifetime and the passion he has for his music and his kindness and convictions for which he chooses to live his life and share with the world is to be commended. The world could definitely use more Mitch Grassi's.
Honestly I think Mitch ranks as one of the top talents of music's history as we know it. He is incredible.
A lot of musical people who know what they're talking about have called Mitch's voice "once in a generation." This performance more than proves that. You're right, Matt; Mitch has a huge heart and has been through so much bullying in his life simply for being who he is, and he's risen above it all with such grace and dignity.

I had watched PTX on the Sing Off when it originally aired and then kind of slowly lost track of them as I was dealing with my mom's illness. She was sick until 2018 when she finally passed, and I was so numb and so far into pure survival mode by that point that I could barely even feel it. A couple of years later, during the early part of the pandemic, someone sent me the video of them singing Hallelujah, and as soon as Mitch started singing, I burst into tears for the first time in 2 years. They made me finally feel something again. Listening to them pulled me out of my own head, and I'm pretty convinced that that actually saved my life. Since then I just can't get enough ❤❤ I love every member of PTX and pretty much everything they do, but it almost always comes back to Mitch for me. His willingness to share his gift with us, to be so open and vulnerable, to show us his struggles as well as his successes is just so special. He's just an amazing human being.

When ptx released Thank You during Covid the lyrics just floored me so hard i cried for an hour like a little baby.I realised that I forgot to say thank you to my loved once (so i did that the next day)I felt so relieved afterwards all the bottled up pandemic stress found an outlet.

Mitch really lifts this song. He just... he sounds otherworldly here. A human being shouldn't be able to do what he can. He really just has an amazing gift. I wish he knew how special he really is. He's always been so hard on himself. So we just do our best to let him know how much we love him, and how much we think of his vocal ability. Pentatonix was there for me. I was right on the brink, and I mean right on the brink, looking down at the abyss. And they brought me back. I literally owe them my life. And all I want is to be able to tell them thank you in person. I will almost certainly never get that chance. Mostly I accept that. But sometimes it really tears me up. To think they may never know just how much they mean to me. To know what they did for me. All I can do is listen to thier music and support them the little bit that I can. Thank you for sharing Matt. It means a lot to a lot of us. Myself included.

I don't believe Mitch's his voice is anything special. He never seems to interfere ot make suggestions in the videos that I've ssen of them working behind the scenes. He see to come in ready to sing perfectly. He always makes me smile with amazement at how effortlessly he sings notes most wouldn't even try.

I’ve said before to other reactions, I can barely listen to this song whether Billie ‘s or Mitch’s, because of the lyrics, the story that Billie was telling when she wrote it. I hope there’s a special place in hell waiting for powerful men who prey on young girls.
