I think this is absolutely the BEST version ever (Grammy! Grammy! Grammy!) and is definitely one of the best arrangements they’ve created. It stuns me every time I hear it (and I’ve heard it A LOT). 💜
This video makes me cry every single time, just because it's so, so beautiful. It's like being transported, as an old lady, far back into a crisp, cold December night when I was young, all my family was still here with me and my faith was strong, innocent and unquestioning. It's magic of the best kind, and I'm so grateful to PTX for giving it to us.
I was just waiting for Kirstie to unleash her epic belt on you. I already had the image of you being blown back in your chair. Here's 1 more like to help you beat a thousand.
There's an autobiographical #PTX song named "The Lucky Ones." Unsurprisingly, it underplays the amount of talent and sheer hard work that has gone into making them so successful, but I have to agree with the basic premise - #Pentatonix HAS been lucky. How lucky was it that Mitch, Kirstin, and Scott were all born in the same small town, at roughly the same time? How lucky was it that Scott met Ben Bram, and that Ben worked on _The Sing-Off?_ How lucky was it that Ben knew Avi, and that Avi was willing to join with The Trio so they could audition for _The Sing-Off?_ How lucky was it that Kevin posted a celloboxing video to RUclips, where The Trio could find it? How lucky was it that a young man on the fast track to becoming a brilliant heart surgeon was willing to give all that up in order to join three teenagers and a bass on a television talent show? Do you see a pattern here? All of the really lucky things that have happened to Pentatonix are people things - running into the right person at the right time. And nowhere is that more evident than in Matt being available just when they needed a new bass, and Ben Bram knowing about him and suggesting that they invite him to audition. From his earliest performances with Pentatonix, Matt's warm, vibrant voice has been such an asset, whether he was "just" backing Kevin up on rhythm or whether he was soloing. But his voice has been improving steadily over the years, and now it's downright spectacular. Pentatonix made a good choice when they decided to re-record "O Holy Night." The new arrangement that makes full use of Matt's voice is SO much better than the 2012 version. I think this song is Grammy-worthy.
I totally agree!!! Winning that show and being "dumped" by the record company (shame on them) but Way To Go proving they didnt need them anyway!!! Congratulations to the best ever Accapella group ever!!! These singers work tirelessly with Ben Bramm arranging their performance worthy renditions of these songs... I also applaud their videographer and all they do.. From mixes, to compilations, to simple videos to complex blow your mind live performances... I simply hope I get to see them live one day.... they are simply put the best anywhere (imo)
Breathtaking! Oh, and J. Timberlake WISHES he could sing like Scott Hoying! Lol! Btw, Scott has a cd out called Parallel that is 🔥🔥🔥. Came out last Aug. Love you!! 💜 ( So very happy you are back doing more Ptx - you will not be sorry! 😉)
I seem to have found this by listening to the playlist, can't believe the comments are so empty! Phenomenal arrangement of this amazing song. Having just watched through your PTX playlist again, the contrast between their younger years and this masterpiece is so striking. Our angels really did grow up.
Every time I watch this video with a RUclips reactor I get goosebumps when Kirsti sings. I am so glad you covered this video. Absolutely one of the best from PTX. PTX poured their hearts and souls into this performance and it shows.
This was released pretty close to Christmas 23, so that is likely why the views aren't higher. I have a feeling they will spike when Christmas 24 approaches! It is passionate, beautiful, and completely epic. And yeah, I think Scott, Matt, Mitch and Kirsin all took a star turn vocally. Kirstin has the fastest most gorgeous vibrato!
There are no words in any language that can describe the beauty of this performance. This was just transcendent. This was not a Wall of Sound, this was an Avalanche or a Tsunami.
This version of the song o holy night is my favourite. I had goosebumps all over my body. I hope to see more reactions of you. Please react to pentatonix' version of 12 days of christmas. It is incredible.
Yes, the most epic version ever. And I've heard every version, because it's my favorite Christmas song ever. They displaced CELINE DION as my #1 favorite version. If you knew how big of a Celine fan I am, you'd understand how nuts that is!
Same!!! I always thought that Josh Grobin and Celine should do this as a duet... I love both their versions and couldn't decide which was better... well now I know which is better... this one...
This version is amazing. You mentioned Carol of the Bells. If you have not reacted to their version from Christmas Under the Stars special (it is live) you really should. It is so much better than the video. It is unbelievable!
To take you a bit aside, I know you've always had an appreciation for Avi Kaplan's solo music, even though you haven't reacted to any for quite a while and you're way behind, so I wanted to provide a different take for you on "O Holy Night". This was the first time after leaving PTX that Avi had performed a Christmas song. He put together this arrangement literally on the fly toward the end of his 2022 US tour as a thank you to the fans in 3 Texas cities - Dallas, Houston & Austin - as he'd had to postpone their concerts earlier in the tour, due to a family emergency. Those shows were rescheduled to the end of the tour, right before Christmas, and this was his special surprise gift to those 3 cities and he did it as his final encore, giving the song a little Texas twist. ruclips.net/video/5cvb2qOU0o0/видео.html
Now listen here, this is how reviews are done. As for the back street boys they are one of the most iconic bands to come out of my generation, and they gained tremendous popularity, a couple of them could sing, and obviously Scott would be way better than them. But to say that I'm insulting them is audacious
@@mattsreactsclearly it was a compliment - and I agree, the Backstreet Boys are iconic, legends, with amazing songs that most of us who had the pleasure of being alive during their career still immensely enjoy to this day.
BEST VERSION EVER!!!!!!!!
I think this is absolutely the BEST version ever (Grammy! Grammy! Grammy!) and is definitely one of the best arrangements they’ve created. It stuns me every time I hear it (and I’ve heard it A LOT). 💜
Yeah!!!! You're back. We missed you.
I’ve probably listened to this at least once a week since it came out and it still gives me chills. Just stunning.
This video makes me cry every single time, just because it's so, so beautiful. I wish I could ❤ this reaction instead of just "liking" it. Great reaction Matt. Love your videos.
Aren’t they just perfection?!
I was just waiting for Kirstie to unleash her epic belt on you. I already had the image of you being blown back in your chair. Here's 1 more like to help you beat a thousand.
I totally agree. This is Epic PTX. And I love your reference to being on the top of Mt. Everest. Best version ever!

Loved your reaction to this Matt! Truly Epic arrangement that really pushes their amazing talents to the extreme!!

If you ever have the opportunity to see them in their annual Christmas concert you absolutely owe it to yourself. It’s always worth the effort

Greatest version of this song I've ever heard. That makes me emotional EVERY TIME I hear it.

Hey Matt, thanks! Watching this mid-way in 2024 is heart-warming. You are so loved and appreciated as well
This version is amazing. You mentioned Carol of the Bells. If you have not reacted to their version from Christmas Under the Stars special (it is live) you really should. It is so much better than the video. It is unbelievable!
You don’t realise you’re holding you breath while Kirstie’s voice is climbing until she stops and you let that breath out.
Just dropping a song request: "Hi Ren" by Ren. Hopefully it will be another musical reaction rabbithole that you can go down

Missed you. Hi😊
You should try to see them live. Kirstin is actually better live than in the studio.
It only took 6 months but it cleared copyright! 😂
RIGHT
Would have liked you ‘re ” review” if you hadn’t Hacked the crap out of it with your stops! And , really, Scott in Backstreet Boys!! How insulting!
