Since the heartbreaking burning smell from the trunk has happened my son bought this doodad on Amazon you clip it to the channel on your amp play a song at 40 Hz and adjust it accordingly my speakers do not smell anymore and they sound so much better when they are tuned
It always pains me to see subs go up in smoke, reminds me of when I fried my first sub, Mobile Authority 12" subwoofer, can't remember the exact model and they went out of business, but it still made me a sad basshead. Thank you for the information you provide, and I really feel for the dude, I wouldn't wish that on anyone. Keep on keepin on, mr Viral, and everyone who competes or just likes audio.
Yep, I’m relatively new to this stuff. Installed a 12” SDR series SKAR Audio sub about 2 years ago. Used 8 gauge for my power wire, however I didn’t pay much attention to how long my power wire was and with it being about 16-18 feet I realized I should’ve been using 4 gauge wire. Which is why my sub was always distorted if I turned my bass knob more than 1/3 of the way up. After putting in 4 gauge wire it sounded awesome with the bass all the way up but after about 15 minutes I smelled something gnarly and saw smoke coming out of the sub box, fml. I’m assuming my gain was up too high, speaker wire from amp to sub was super hot along with the sub.
Your supposed to set your gain with three bass knob all the way up. You should always be able to have your volume to the highest you play it with your bass knob all the way up. Bass knob shouldn't be used like a "volume". Protect your investment. I don't even use a bass knob.
If I run my sub with the car off for a long period of time, And the battery voltage drops to like 11 volts and my sub starts to smoke a lot and then stops working will that be because the battery voltage was too low?
Wondering if anyone did any sketchy shit in the back seat because the amp is literally right there (Just saying) Anyone can mess with the gain, bassboost and crossover. it could also be the lack of power, Coil malfunction or way to much power for it.... I mean if he's been playing it since he got it then maybe he just got carried away on the head unit and turn the volume knob pass distortion? There are so many ways on why the subwoofer are smoking but anyway, The owner of that Audio system looks Beautiful though! Thank you Jacob for doing another auto audio video for the audience to watch. That Toyota FJ cruiser is freaking gorgeous. I love the rims and tires they chose and the lift. As for the other vehicles there beautifully amazing!
I think if you Demo way too long and allow the subs to get hot and not allow them to cool. They’ll smoke. Hopefully his subs are ok and he figures out why that happened.
It can be but it's not going to benefit like you would think. It isn't going to give you any louder of a system on output and just lower quality of your bass output overall and I'm talking about on both. You don't want any Bass Boost period but that's just my experience and opinion.
I just wired up my car and I had a dual coil sub wired in parallel. It started smoking so I turned it off. I have it on one voice coil and it is still working. Should I be worried?

No do NOT use it. Also your gain setting is NOT a volume.knob, so when you see people say "durrrrr it's so loud and my gains only up half way" .means literally nothing. Your amp can put out full power at no gain it all depends on input voltage.
@@jangusroundstone9701 10/4, appreciate the honesty, only reason I asked is because my buddy and I get into it all the time about using the bass boost at all.
@@jangusroundstone9701 not true amp can't put out full power with the gain turned all the way down, your gain is practically a volume knob to match with your head unit, processor etc. Here's a test turn your system full tilt with the gain turned all way down and turn gain 75 percent up and tell me the subwoofer excursion flex more and it is louder, gets hotter, amp draws more Current versus having your gain at 0 percent.

Amp is always better bigger then the rated subs so you don't ever have to max out and clip the amp to create dirty power if you have the electrical so you should be fine as long as not clipping.
the way the output section is designed on those Brazilian style amps is completely different from Korean. The Brazilian amps use the coils in a different way and they unload tons of current on them and will completely blow a hole in them on the slightest of clipping. The amplifiers will work fine especially the Bandas but you have to watch that shit. There nowhere near as forgiving to your coils as a Korean amplifier. You can typically smell your subs get hot on a Korean amplifier but with a Brazilian amp its usually to late.
I love that brand of amp, but those amps will destroy some woofers if you don't take the time to match them up properly like you were saying. I like them for the power but I'm going to have to make sure that I know how to match the correct subwoofers and tuning.

Fastest way to help them break in, is to free air them at a low frequency on lower power for a hour or more, but keep an eye on the temperature of the woofer.
You can go full hammer from the start just ensure you have your subsonic set higher for the breakin periods on the low end depending on your subwoofer box tuning range. So say a 32Hz Box Tuned I would set to 2-3hz below that so 29-30hz subsonic for say 10-12hrs playtime then set it down as low as you want. That's what I've learned works plus what a lot of manufacturers recommend.
