What is your opinion on content warnings in the query?-Some say do it, others say don't.

I suppose my almost forty years in the writing business give me a specific perspective. I think content warnings in query letters are completely unnecessary and inappropriate. In fact, if I were an editor or an agent and writers put these in queries, I'd peg them as amateurs who've learned their business from another wannabe writer in a Facebook group. I'm not much of a believer in warnings on finished books, either. The book's blurb should be sufficient for any potential reader to determine if it's the kind of book they'd want to read. I'd appreciate warnings that say things like "Warning: This book contains multiple stylistic and punctuation errors." Hope that helps! P.

@@PatriciaJParsons Thanks so much for your reply. I am so relieved, since I couldn't agree more. To me, it smacks of a "flavor of the month" scenario. The "latest thing"...so everybody wants to have you jump on their band wagon...
