I’ve gone 100% iPad Pro as my computer. When I had a laptop I found I was using my phone for as much as possible because of how nicer experience it is over a laptop. Getting the iPad was the nail in the coffin for my laptop. Love the iPad
Great video. I think for many the question of the IPad Pro being a daily computer includes more things like doing papers, doing my banking, doing my homework, doing spreadsheets, documents, etc. . Not everyone does video and photo editing. Just seems like all the videos on the IPad being a daily driver revolves around it being a photo and video editor.
I can’t imagine how frustrating it is trying to record yourself editing the video about yourself editing the video, and then editing those portions into the video and make the video sound and look coherent
it's amazing how the iPad pro can become a full computer. We are soo close for it to being as seamless as to a "real computer". There are still a few hoop to jmp to make this happen, but just like anything once you understand the wrokflow it's amazing. Last year, when I went out of town for work, I just brought iPad and I edited a few videos and no one even noticed a drop off in quality. Hopefully, we will get a full-fledge final cut pro on the iPad, so I may be able to ditch my Macbook for good? As always, great job.

I think if Apple make new step for New versions on IPad to give a programmer new experience with using it. If Apple try to make this experience for any programmer get one for doing everything (Small Size + high performance).

I’m a full time student and I only use a 2018 iPad Pro 11’’. There are a few bad things like you cant be in a zoom call while multitasking you can only listen to the call. Other than things like that the iPad is one of the best computers in the industry.

The iPad pro is the best thing that ever happen to me. I slowly tried to fully switch to it. And now I 100% rely on my iPad for everything. File management, photo editing, photoshop, editing my website and adding products to my online store, report writing and presentation making, watching movies, project management, studying for Uni, making DFD flowcharts and Databases on Oracle cloud, writing notes and scheduling meetings, I even started playing games on it. Its by far the best tool for everything! I love using it with the HDMI but I hope they fix the aspect ratio.

Canoopsy, you've got great narrative skills, most of the time I watch your videos just because of that. I would enjoy so much listening to bedtime stories if you ever decide to create that kind of podcasts.
I currently use my iPad Pro as my main device. I also have a MacBook Pro, which I use less and less since adapting to the iPad ecosystem. At first it wasn’t easy as it is different from the Mac, but now I use it 99.9% of the time. The other .1% I use the MacBook Pro is for using Zoom videos, as I use my iPad as my notebook as well. And all of this I do as a Cybersecurity Researcher.

I’m moving to Philippines and my iPad Pro is now my only computer. I couldn’t be happier with the Magic Keyboard and capabilities. My only suggestion is get skins for the Magic Keyboard to protect the delicate case! I wish I had the creative skills you have! Very impressive... Take care & be safe!

hi! i actually had the same problem with that, a useful solution is to use your cellphone and ipad for zoom. Just inform your teachers you are using two devices (i turn the video off on my ipad, i use my ipad to view the presentation and take notes when i need to)
You and a few other RUclipsrs have inspired me to take the drastic step in making the iPad Pro my desktop, just can’t wait for the aspect ratio to be fixed for external displays.

I actually sold my 2012 MacBook Pro to fund my current 2020 iPad Pro 12.9 and it’s quite the upgrade and coming from the point of a laptop replacement and not a tablet replacement, I’d have to say I love my iPad. The display is great, battery life is excellent and I got the 12.9 instead of the 11 cause I knew I’d be taking notes and light video/photo editing so that extra real estate is really good! I really want to buy the magic keyboard for it but $300-350 is really hard to justify and for less I can get a mx master and a Bluetooth mechanical keyboard but the magic keyboard is all in one and is much more portable

Did you know that you can eliminate the need to record on an SD card by using streaming software? It'd make moving your files to your iPad for luma a bit more efficient. Especially if you have a MacBook laying around doing nothing. You'd use Ecamm live to record. It'll record your zoom audio too if you plug your recorder in via USB. Then you'd just need an HDMI capture card for your camera and boom. You have a video recording studio. 🤘😎

I’m in awe of this thing every day I use it. I had the iPad Pro 11 (2018) and decided I wanted the bigger screen so I sold the 11 inch and got a Pro 12.9 (2020). I know I’ll never use it to it’s full potential...but just to explore everything you can do is quite mind boggling.

Linus's team is just lazy to learn something new, even though LTT could save lots of money on editing rigs. I know, that they work with servers that are the most seamless with Windows, but this and the forthcoming Apple Silicon Macs would be cheaper in the long run, than constantly upgrading huge PC towers. Apple's tech also saves space, since its compact, therefore Linus could easily hire new editors if necessary. The only bottleneck in the concept of switching to the new architecture is Taran and his macros on his 10000 keyboards around him.

I use my iPad as my main device as well, although I own the 10.2 7th Gen.
I use pc only for my stock analysis and trading due to lack of software compatibility on the iPad.
Considering the high price of the pro model - I would recommend anyone who isn't a professional content creator of some sort and don't like to waste money, to purchase the basic 10.2 model instead of the pro,
I even play pubg on it and it's great.
So no one's gonna talk about how the first gen pencil is just casually chilling and magnetically attached to the side of the iPad pro. I thought first gen pencils didn't work with the pro series iPad.

I’ve made the videos for our family business (Pruden Tree Service) on my iPad Pro. I basically am just using my iPhone 11 Pro to shoot the footage with some drone shots and GoPro here and there. The footage is dumped to my Samsung SSD via USB C hub, edited in LumaFusion, thumbnails in Affinity photo, and upload through the RUclips app generally. It’s been a blast so far!

Got super lucky with my 12.9 iPad Pro. Got one from ebay all specc’ed up (2016 model) for a great price. And then had to give my macbook air as my SO HP computer finally broke down. Luckilly this was when the iOS 12 Beta came out so I managed to do a full replacement. So since 3 years ago my iPad Pro has been my main device
I’ve just started a channel. A little bit of tech and I will be doing more-so reaction videos to tv shows and I have recorded the videos with my iPhone and have used my iPad with iMovie. I just had to purchase lumafusion due to iMovie having an error saying there is no room on my device and then that it can’t get the video from iCloud. Its quite nice to use in conjunction with the Apple Pencil. Trying to do it with just my fingers proved to be quite difficult. I also tried it with my monitor and a mouse and that was nice too. I did my thumbnail on procreate as well!
Honestly, If I wouldn't code, I'd be absolutely fine with an iPad instead of a laptop. I've even used my iPad for Coding with a remote desktop software + my big desktop. The only thing I really wish the iPad would offer is proper external screen support and better windowing and multitasking since some of the ways the windows are grouped is sometimes a bit confusing. Additionally, I think the iPad has become quite a bit too expensive. If you want the "full" package with Magic Keyboard and the iPad, you are easily spending above 1000€ for the package. I found my 10,5" iPad Pro with the Smart Keyboard a much better price point.
I wish I could make my iPad Pro my daily driver. As a student writing papers word, pages and google docs grammar is sketchy and doesn’t catch everything. Hopefully the functionality will improve so I can try again!

Can I ask you a question? I’m actually an aspiring tech reviewer but I’m still studying. Now, I’m currently using my Iphone X to do all of my editing as well as shooting. I’m editing using splice, the app and I’m kinda used to it already. Having the touch capability is good but i’m still stuck with 5.8” screen though that’s why i’m planning on buying a macbook pro. My worry is, since i’m already used to at using my iPhone for editing, I even plan on buying luma fusion, knowing its capabilities and all, should I buy an iPad Pro instead or should i still opt for the macbook pro???
I'm not a huge RUclips, but I edit videos on my iPad or Galaxy S20 as well! There's this app called VLLO from a Korean company and its a free alternative to LumaFusion. Think of it as something better than iMovie, but a little simpler than LumaFusion. I absolutely LOVE VLLO.
The upcoming changes to the iPad pro will only make this all much easier

I still can’t do it. Using Google sheets is a pain on the iPad. The cursor also drives me crazy. Lack of full screen on a monitor is also something Apple needs to prioritize. One usb in the middle is also not useful. Having to buy a third party dongle for $70 just isn’t cool. Maybe in 2022?? I do enjoy my iPad but still need my MacBook for some tasks.
Final Cut Pro on IpadOS is the endgame. I hope that Apple are working on it.
Your requirements must be super light. I bought into this idea it can be the only compute device given the videos of some RUclipsrs and of course Apple advertising it as a "computer" But the reality is iPadOS still has a looong way to go
1. Multi User support like Android has had for ages. Cant believe that in 2020 iPadOS still cant drive this
2. External screen output at native external screen resolution and not just screen mirror but second screen
3. Keep working on improving file manager at least offering ability to format external storage with different filesystems and better file copy status indicator, especially over network. Again its 2020 already and these are really basic things.
4. Consolidate all settings for keyboard, mouse, pen in one settings menu option
5. App tray like iOS just got and ability to place widgets anywhere allowing me to have a clean clutter free desktop
6. Keep working with Microsoft and Google to beef up all productivity apps like Office, Docs and Chrome to be same as as desktop apps. Most if them are still just glorified mobile versions same as on iPhone and pretty useless for real productivity work
7. 4k video in RUclips (Got it now in iPadOS 14 beta but will keep it here until the final release is out and it still has it)
8. Support more filesystems for external storage even if we have to purchase plugins for the support
9. Safari still needs to be beefed up to be closer to desktop. Online design services like Marvel Apps work well on desktop but simply does not work on iPad. Again with se productivity web apps in combination with a keyboard and mouse is quite flakey experience. Sometimes you simply cant click on things so have this constant switch between being forced to use finger for selecting and sometimes mouse works. Even ChromeOS does this pretty seamless how is it possible that these expensive iPads cant?
Few things I wish for in terms of hardware but those are all more wishlist type things rather than things clearly lagging or missing yo make this great as a only device
I did as well buy into it. What a useless heap of shite. Hardware is ok but the software is so limiting and buggy it can't even copy files to a HDD without corrupting them and takes forever to do it. usb support is so limited. Also the cellular limits what you are allowed to download by size. I have an unlimited data package so it was another useless feature. I switched to a note 10 plus and it's way better for what I need and want. I have a Mac as well for the tasks that the iPad and phone can't do.
I literally just ordered an 11" 2020 iPad Pro. I am pumped to finally experience this iPad after hearing so many great things about it from you and other creators here on RUclips (most notably ThisIsE, ByteReview and Brandon Havard).

Why not put your video files in Files App, along with the audio, instead of the Photos App? With iCloud it would be easier to get the files on your MacBook easier than the photos app
Also impressed you did it all on iOS 14 betas. They’ve been pretty stable. I use LumaFusion and Over everyday for my job.
I think I would have to lock my MacBook away somewhere I didn't have access to it, and only have an iPad to force myself to use it for my daily tasks. But I really can't see me enjoying the experience, vs using my MacBook Pro

2 years later..ipad will have final cut pro for $5 a month, supports proper secondary display and the display is HDR, not only that, although I have a panasonic GH5 II..the iphone 14 pro max literally looks better in most situations..including lowlight..with no color adjuments, not only that but iOS on the ipad actually gives you HDR video rendering in imovie or capcut for free..where as the macbook..only way to edit HDR is by paying over $300 for finalcut pro because capcut and imovie on macOS don't support HDR

i am glad you admitted that doing work related tasks is faster on a laptop as compared to ipad. i have tried very basic different types of works like word processing, making presentations, file management, online research, multitasking etc., and even in these basic tasks, Mac OS is a much faster and simple experience than ipad. someone said it right, in trying to make things simple, ipad sometimes makes them more difficult.
iPad Pro just a great tablet for work, editing, etc. But the only one made me couldn't replace my computer is iPad can't print on office printer which it use a USB connection, example: epson L100,200,300 series... so I still need my computer to do a complete workflow
Right now it is my main computer. My MacBook Pro 13” is getting used a lot less since getting the Magic Keyboard. I do use my iPad at work a lot and like I said a lot more since getting the keyboard this past May.

Yep, ipad pro 12.9 is now my main computer, i mostly play mobile mmo now, so everything else on my pc becomes obsolete, i dont even need most program on pc that i already have on my ipad

This is so so good. The only limiting factor is the non existence of fcpx on lumafusion. I’m so excited for those Apple Silicon macs. Same experience that the only thing I do now on the macbook is edit videos (for work), everything else is just a better experience on iPad. The speed and stability is just in another level. If FCPX gets in iPad OS I”d love to completely shift to iPad for everything.
