Three puns from Carrie inside the first minute. Well done.
In the first 20 seconds!
As a former forestry type it is true, all forestry work goes better with an ax and suspenders! Especially red suspenders, red are the best.
(Honestly though I wish the game offered more non-ax mechanics closer to conventional restoration techniques? Like there's this technique known as livestaking where you cut branches of pioneer river species like willow and cottonwoods and plant the branches to grow new plants, and do I now want that as a bonus game? Why yes, yes I do.)
As they teach the history of this conflict in the first day of forestry school I don't have to tell you but for anyone who has not had the opportunity to study the war as we have, I will explain: Axe and nature have been mortal enemies in perfect balance since the dawn of time, then two millenia ago axe teamed up with human and tipped the balance against nature for many years. Now in this controversial move axe and nature have put aside their differences to join forces against human for axe focused problem solving to save nature from human.
As is the tradition to have death counts for Souls-like games, I think we also could really use a pun counter for Carrie's incredible puns!
With the exact same presentation as the death counter, except it uses the comic sans font.
That could get quite grizzly.
I hope to see a continuation of either this or "bear and breakfast" - Carrie seems to have a knack for cuddly brown forest teddy mammals and you two seem to enjoy playing as them quite a lot ;)
She has an affinity for a LOT of bearaphernalia, yeah.
Dan and Carrie are what I look forward to on the weekends.
Definitively makes Sunday mornings more fun!
This is one for the "Dan is away, Carrie will play on the purple site"-backpocket!
Most of the humans become campers or farmers, but I love how the first human just put on PPE. As far as he knew, OSHA just hired a bear.
the whole 'animal cleans up nature' gives me an Okami vibe
8:40 absolutely living for the Protomen reference, thank you Carrie
17:17 Tim Curry singing Toxic Love lives in my head and I'm not sure if I'll ever be able to evict it, or even if I want to
Is this the most perfect cosy game that has ever existed and will ever exist? Yes, yes it is. It has it all: a cute animal protagonist, a big axe, satisfying destroy-cleaning, outfits, schmacking sense into people, and petting stuff.
At 18:16 to answer Carrie's question the purpose of the stilts is to lift it off the wheels which gives it more stability and means there's no risk of it rolling away.
"For one thing, people don't get happier when you smack them."
Wait, you mean I've been doing this wrong the whole time? No wonder people think I'm a jerk.
2:57 Carrie's gasp of delight is absolutely adorable.
I always enjoy when I manage to anticipate a Dan line. This time it was, "Squirrel no. Leave this to the professionals."
Also, after all the Banjo-Kazooie references, I'm amused that, when the game handed Carrie a _mole wearing glasses,_ she didn't default to "Bottles."
32:56
Yes! Yes, you could! Yes, you should!
Ahahaha, Carrie is the last person I expected to hear a Protomen reference from and I am so happy.
"I swear, Your Honor. I didn't know that when they said 'make the world a better place, go slap some humans' they didn't mean it literally" - the defendant accused of 437 accounts of serial slapping and 2941 counts property distruction from planting over 30 thousand trees in a week after watching this video.
The defendant really needs to improve their property destroyed:trees planted ratio.
This is the second Sunday in a row I've had to go buy the game you two were playing cuz I enjoyed it so much.
Ah, you just want a boss fight with Tim Curry in the background singing toxic love and you smsh his machines.
That was adorable and really satisfying to watch!
But most importantly, every time you slapped a human I had to laugh, that sound effect is so good
I always love when Carrie drops a Protomen line
8:41 Wait, Carrie's a fan of The Protomen?? Nice!
This seems like first recording post desert bus for Carrie. She’s got that energy about her
9:30: Without getting complex or political: Trade is not automatically capitalism, even if it uses money, and assuming that trade = capitalism plays into the hands of capitalist realism. Capitalism refers to a specific social relationship between people and the means of production (ie, capital).
More importantly: Everyone knows bears are anarchists.
32:20: Does bombing slap the humans? (NOTE: Do not test in real life.)
1:30: This bear owns everything that cannot be destroyed with his axe and hates everything that can. An unusual value system, but a simple one.
2:25: Judging by the symbols on the barrels, destroying them probably didn't make a bad situation worse.
6:00: Wasn't the construction company going to run Arthur over if he didn't move by a certain time, and he was only saved by Ford tricking Arthur into thinking he solved the problem?
7:30, 8:15: I was going to make a joke about how the bear wasn't cleaning up anything, just turning a few big trashes into a bunch of little ones, but the devs figured out what I was going to think before I thunk it.
21:25: I'm probably not the first to notice, but this game feels like it drew some inspiration from Katamari's game loop.
27:50: Well _now_ what am I gonna comment on??
It was Ford that helped Arthur. And in the book at least, he tricks the construction guy into thinking he needs to fill in for Arthur lying in front of the bulldozer while he goes to the bar. It doesn't work for long though.
I mean the strategy of laying in front of the bulldozer really didn't work for Arthur Dent because both his house and the planet he is from both ended up destroyed anyway so 🤷.
@@Gorfinhofin Not sure how I got those two confused. Thank you.
8:50 great Protomen reference
I love when you two play games like these. So soothing 😌
"Banjo looks different." Carrie wins the video.
This is a contender for 2022 "Christmas Cozy Game"
5:36 It is a single dark grey dog in a yellow shirt, on their back - probably looking at the clouds.
If ever a game had Sundays written all over it, it's this one. More please.
Carrie casually quoting The Protomen is a mood.
Request for a Carrie + Dan One-Off playlist. :)
the name alone has me intrigued.
BTW - yes, I have you on in the background while working on my own game. just doing a bunch of UI. color wheel for paint selection right now.
32:39 golf kart bodykit unlocked by playing mini golf in a racing game. great idea!
URSA using those puns real early, ain't ya'
can’t wait for you two to play Frog Detective 3
Bear boi is love bear boi is life
Finally, a game that gets my desire to become a bear and slap people better.
Gotta love the little game with big eco-friendly message
4:28 "Arm Smokey"
Well you live in the US, so you do have a right to arm bears.
Nice. Yeah, VERY nice.
This may be thinking too much into it, but I like how the humans aren't just diametrically opposed to nature. Once they are "woken up" they can do very human things, just things that co-exist with nature instead of actively harming it.
And the last level is what the golf all over again
When *you* slap people it doesn't make them happy, but *surviving a bear "attack"* probably does make people rethink their life and maybe make better choices
This is un-bear-ably cute.
Resetti but not Bottles or Jamjars to stick with the Banjo theme? Tut.
I have noticed that all the words in hardspace shipbreaker can be rearranged to make a name that still works.
Hardbreak Shipspacer
Breakship Spaceharder
Spaceship Hardbreaker
Shiphard Spacebreaker
This game is certainly part of the bear-essentials.
Does Carrie wear glasses? If she does not, it appears that she may need to make an appointment. If she does wear glasses, it appears she needs to make an appointment.
What an adorabear game to play on this, Day 15 of looking forward to seeing the rest of the Beacon Pines branches.
Suddenly I'm getting Terra Nil flashbacks, though that was a much more puzzly game.
Those puns!
I imagine the Bear's axe is like that scene in Jojo. The guy punches through a frog and creates a HUGE splash in the water under it.
Not even 5 minutes in and Carrie's already arguing for the right to arm bears!
Un-bear-ably cute.
Carrie was that a Protomen reference!?
Is this by the people who made the donut hole game?
Extra history pertculary
Gonna have to go buy this now. All your fault.
31:30 What The Golf?
Why tho golf?
Well, that was a quick purchase. Also, I do plan to use it for kids, as I have a nephew who'd love this, I think, though perhaps 3½ is a bit young for it?
31:35 what the golf?
Bears and mountains.
It's a trend now.
Just slapping the Late Capitalism clean out of workers.
Adorable indeed 😍.
What a cute game!
Would you like to destroy some evil today?
I'm disappointed that the "arm smokey" comment was not followed with "the right to arm bears"
Are you returning to extra credit
