    Good morning Oscar, it's Martin from Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire. I hope you are ok today. I am a bit late up today which is unusual for me. But I've just watched your splendid video Oscar, it was great to see the Flying Scotsman and her teak coaches gliding along the tracks, just perfection in motion. The three car dmu has a great sound as she runs around the layout. And also I love the stations and their buildings especially the little green book stall. All in all, you have a wonderful layout Oscar. Well I am going to have my tea and toasted tea cake now and watch your video again Oscar. So keep safe and have a good week ahead and I shall look forward to seeing your next video. 👍🚂🚃

      Good morning, Martin, I'm a bit late getting around to the replies this week. Glad you enjoyed the video on Sunday morning. Those little green newspaper stands and lovely little things. There is a variation with railway modeller advertised on the front of it..

    Hello Oscar, I've recently bought another black princess together with the transcontinental pacific for £30 the pair at a local antique centre. The princess just needed new brushes and a service whist the other needs the brush holder fibreboard and brushes. Both models have mk2 couplings. I've been building a small layout using series 3 track and wondered what you use to clean up the fishplate contact area? The rails came up well with a Peco rubber, and I've tried a fibreglass pencil on the fishplates, but I'm still losing power over a certain section. Any tips would be appreciated.

      Hi, sounds like some great find it mate is items provide a lot of fun and getting them up and running. I've dismantled most of my series 3 track scotch-Brite pads, quite nice for cleaning up the rails, finishing off the rail head with a Peco track rubber is good tweaking fish plates with pliers improves things also cleaning them with the glass fibre pen as you suggested are use a rotary tool with a bronze brush to clean up fish plates and ends of rails as well. I've also soldered the fish plates rails I'm almost all the Tri-ang track on the current railway. If you have a look at this video of covered some of these aspects within it ruclips.net/video/l4X6yPeeNMk/видео.html
      Hope this is of some help.

    A very good morning Oscar, the Princess Elizabeth train with the Custard and cream coaches really does look the part. Can you imagine getting this as a 10 or 11yr old you'd be so proud. Nice running session again today, as you said, this is what it's all about is having fun and playing trains. Thanks Oscar take care Eddy xx

    • @oscarpaisley
      @oscarpaisley  8 месяцев назад

      Morning Eddy, thanks for looking in. Glad you enjoyed the playtime on the railway, would've been such a great experience getting these as a 10 or 11 year old though not sure what children of that age would make that set today. My son now 18 was only interested for a very short period of time at that age, others of his age at the time were sadly not remotely interested.
      All the best.

    That really was a great Sunday morning video. I love how you see the beauty in these models that most of us would consider shabby. I wonder what you would have to say about my first Princess, a black one from the same time period as your green one. I thought the sound of the DMU was as good as modern DCC sounds, I loved it. There's nothing like playing trains on Christmas eve with thoughts of what the morning might bring. Your clean up has got me thinking that I should spend some time doing exactly the same. David.

      Hi David, another busy week here. Glad you enjoyed the video on Sunday morning. The DMU great sound on the rails. Video was made sometime ago now getting on for mid February and time for another cleanup! just getting around cleaning another set of Pullman coaches which I've been putting off for weeks now.
      Thanks again take care.

    WOW Oscar & I thought I kept a lot of boxes!!! That's the 1 down side to Railway Modelling - You have to keep the boxes that the Locos, Rolling Stock, Track etc came in - to keep the value of the items!!! Thanks for sharing 🙂🚂🚂🚂

    • @oscarpaisley
      @oscarpaisley  8 месяцев назад

      You're right boxes do take up some space! but they're all part of the collection in the end, I think it's also better to try and keep the original packaging out of the light where practical.
      All the best.

    Hey Oscar, love the content. Love watching, and learning from your research. Infact I have bought a few locos after watching you run them and giving us an honest opinion on them. Thanks for that. Quick question, do you intend on adding static grass, ballast or any form of detail to your layout? I was just wondering. Apologies if someone has already asked.

    • @oscarpaisley

      Hi, thanks for watching glad you've been enjoying videos and having fun acquiring some of these older items yourself. I tend to stay away from the scenic element of model railways. I had a play around with landscaping and weathering as a child many years ago, since coming back to playing around with model railways about 10 years ago its all been about the track and the items in the range for me.

    Thanks Oscar, nice to see the green Princess, I may have mentioned I was given a body, chassis and tender years ago and I've managed to fully restore it, which is the beauty of the modular nature of these loco's, they just need a little work and you can bring them back to life, which is half the fun of it.

    Another great video. My 3rd locomotive was the green princess (a CKD kit I think); my father would have built it as I would have 3.. Do you intend controlling the signals based on points position or separately?

      That's how mine operate mainly and also by turning red after a train passes, going back to green after a period. Initially, this was just done with microswitches and bistable relays but now is controlled with an Arduino MEGA which gives greater flexibility over how it all works together. Best wishes, Tom@@oscarpaisley

    Hi Oscar, that Princess is a wonderful loco isn't it ? I prefer those with the full valve gear, much more interesting to watch! Its nice to have an old faithfull loco like that, bringing back those memories of Tynemouth market with your son every time you run it.
    Looking forward to watching the signalling develop, and noting how all they're wired up.
    Thanks Oscar, take care.

      Morning Antony, thanks again for looking in. Sadly the stall that used to have model railway items has vanished from the market, a few years back now.. I use to enjoyed a visit and a rummage around on the Stall, all sorts of useful bits and pieces could be found.

      @@oscarpaisley Oh, it's a shame the stall has gone Oscar, it's a lovely place Tynemouth isn't it? My wife and I spent a day there when on holiday in Northumberland a few years ago.
      There used to be a similar stall to the one you describe on Chesterfield's Thursday market, again sadly no longer there. I bought a lovely boxed Triang Hornby R759 Albert Hall with R760 tender from it. Happy days eh?

    Hi Oscar,
    Great play session and Princess Elizabeth, always a lot of enjoyment to be had from play worn items. Whilst watching, a voice in the background said “you should take leaf out of Oscar’s book and tidy up the shambles upstairs”, so thanks for that 😂. Seriously though it is good to be in a tidy environment.
    Keep up the good work,
    Gordon
