Hello, I have this same player and I cannot seem to get the HDMI output to work. It's always greyed out in the menu, and the TV says "no signal." It's not the cables I'm using, and the port itself is not damaged or dirty. Do you have any suggestions on what I could do to fix it?

I have the same unit. It has problems 6 hours of dubbing on it. It has been unused for several years. When I tried to use it, it munched on the tape. I was able to retrieve the tape but now it will not accept a tape. It did once but pretty much immediately ejected it. Could the sensor be causing it?

Hi great video. I have a Toshiba dvr20kb. It’s been stored away for a while, then I copied a tape to disc, all worked fine then I tried to use it again and all it would do is Continuously click with no power LED on just trying to power up any ideas please. Many thanks nigel

Thanks so much! I had the exact same problem with my machine and I just dusted off the prism with a q tip and it works perfectly again! :)

Superb repair these late decks have quite simple mechanisms compared to the older stuff but these are very handy and useful machines for backing up vhs tapes .

Most owners would have tossed this player in junk car headed for the shredder for only a $5 part and an hour of labor. However, the endless hours of experience to know how to diagnose this problem is worth 100s of thousands of dollars. Thank you for sharing your valuable knowledge and experience with us! Bravo - another one saved!
I have a vintage Technics stereo receiver coming here with a dead channel and I hope to find the issue and get it back to my friend quickly. Hero status is on the line. hahaha

That is what the machine uses to detect if a tape is inserted. It always is trying to accept a tape.

Done a couple of these today, completely dead , turned out there was shorted electrolytics on both machines, on the main board, not the psu. On the always on 5v sys power rails

Did you ever get to repair that subwoofer after you suspected it blew the tracks on that Yamaha AV amplifier? If so, what were your findings?

No I did not, I sent the unit back and have not heard anything back.

@@norcal715 Thanks for the feedback. I think the same thing has happened with my Yamaha amp and was keen to understand why it had occurred before fixing it using your video as a guide. Keep up the good work! 👍🏻
